About the property

Cottage in Llanllechid, Nr. Bangor, Snowdonia National Park, Gwynedd, Wales - 5 Minutes Walk To The Village Shop And Pub

This is wild unspoiled Wales and with the exception of the local bakery, little has changed since ancient times. A steep mountain stream runs under a small bridge on the lane that connects the cottage to the road network. A small convenience store is a short stroll away and a traditional pub 'The Royal Oak' 5 minutes on foot. There is one small farm, a church and just 4 more cottages in close proximity with the remainder towering mountains, open fields and marshland for miles around.

Green Cottage is perfect for couples, a family of 4 or 2 couples sharing the property. There are 2 bedrooms and the usual configuration of the beds is a double in one and twins in the other. A cot and a high chair is standard equipment as is all bedding and towels for up to 4 guests. The bedrooms are separated by a short landing and the bathroom, equipped with electric shower and jacuzzi bath, is positioned off the same landing. Downstairs is the impressive inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove that’s in the centre of the very cozy living room. Off the living room is the essential porch for storage of muddy boots and coats. The fully equipped kitchen is a very light and generous space that easily accommodates up to 4 adults seated at an elephant's foot solid oak dining table. Rear garden area is fully enclosed and very private. Perfect for bbq's, eating out or just catching the sun as it's all south facing.

High speed wifi is an essential part of the cottage equipment and full central heating is provided at no extra charge.

In the 20 yrs since purchasing our first overseas rental property we've worked hard to perfect every aspect of the villa rental experience and in 2017 we expanded our range of villas to 1 three bedroom villa, 1 two bedroom villa and 1 one bedroom villa in some of the most desirable locations. At regular intervals we inspect and ensure that standards of maintenance are kept at their very best. In 2012 we further expanded our range of private rental units to include a refurbished Welsh cottage in an area that has the highest concentration of outdoor activities and attractions in the whole of the UK - Snowdonia. Our association with that area spans 20 yrs.

Why Andy Want chose Wales

We purchased this 2 bedroom cottage in 1994 and after several months of refurbishment in 2012 it allowed us to further expand our range of private rental units to include this delightful Welsh cottage. The locality is quieter and less developed than the Lake District but many would argue it rivals if not exceeds the Lakes for it's scenery. Additionally the area (Snowdonia) has by far the highest concentration of outdoor activities and attractions in the whole of the UK.

Peaceful cottage - lovely stay

Had a lovely peaceful week at Green Cottage. Well equipped and cozy. Lovely light kitchen / diner. Living room a little dark on a dull day but cozy all the same. Only a 12 minute walk to the pub in Rachub (The Royal Oak or Y Dderwen Frenhinol), which I liked. It's a "real" pub with real local people in it, not some fake gastro-pub. Very friendly and the couple that run it are very nice, friendly people. Green Cottage is situated on a quiet lane by the church and very pretty graveyard, with original, well-kept stones in slate. The cottage is very warm, which my partner liked as she would look for her cardigan if she was in the Sahara, and the log-burner an added bonus. Bathroom done nicely and the shower lovely. The little garden is very peaceful and ideal for dogs as it's fully enclosed. Views from the cottage lovely. The parking is not an issue at all as Llanllechid is such a quiet village - and this coming from someone like me who is always concerned where he leaves his car ! The cottage has very nice neighbours too. Yes I would return.

Lovely Cottage, comfortable and clean

Well presented and comfortable holiday cottage. Good location for exploring the area. Whilst we were unsure of the parking arrangements i.e. parking away from the property, it didn't pose a problem. It was nice to have a supply of soap and towels which you normally don't expect to get when self catering and well equipped and for a property that allows pets, as non pet owners, we would not have known from the condition and cleanliness of the cottage.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and it was nice to be able to stay in the school summer holidays without paying a premium for the privilege.

lovely peaceful cottage

This cottage is located among a group of cottages just off a quiet lane. It is lovely and quiet and is well situated for easy access by car to the Snowdonia hills as well as the coast. The cottage is clean, spacious and well equipped. It has central heating and a wood burner, so warm and cosy. The kitchen is light and spacious with a table and chairs and French windows leading to a secluded garden with a bbq if warm enough. There is a pub in the village a short stroll away. We did pop in but it's not what you'd call a traditional country pub. Maybe we picked the wrong night ( big footie match on the screen and card game in progress, no other women punters), but it wasn't really our thing so just stayed for a quick half. It didn't stop us having a lovely weeks stay in a beautiful part of the country, with days tramping in the hills and evenings relaxing over a glass of wine in the evening.

Delightful cottage for exploring coast & mountain

Lovely cottage in a great location

We had a fantastic stay at Green cottage in November, its such a great base for walking - Snowdon and Tryfan are just a short drive away and there are plenty of walks you can do straight from the door if you've got an OS map. Also its just down the road from zipworld. The little village was really peaceful and parking was not an issue. The only issue we did have was the heating didnt work for the first few days- but the cottage owner Andy made every effort to get this sorted for us and after 2 days we had full heating. Looking at the guestbook nobody else had had problems with heating so i think this must have been a one off. We had a great stay thankyou!

We purchased this 2 bedroom cottage in 1994 and after several months of refurbishment in 2012 it allowed us to further expand our range of private rental units to include this delightful Welsh cottage. The locality is quieter and less developed than the Lake District but many would argue it rivals if not exceeds the Lakes for it's scenery. Additionally the area (Snowdonia) has by far the highest concentration of outdoor activities and attractions in the whole of the UK.

Activity and Interests

Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

Climbing and Hill Walking - The Carneddau and Snowdonia mountain ranges are the highest in England and Wales and attract thousands of visitors throughout the year. Tracks onto these mountains are accessible directly from the front door of Green Cottage.

Mountain Biking - Ogwen cycle trail starts 2 miles away from Green Cottage.

Angling - River Ogwen (1 mile away) is one of the foremost game fishing venues in this region of Wales with Sea trout and Salmon in significant numbers in season.

Kayaking and Canoeing - This is also the home of white water canoeing and a challenging river just 1 mile away from the cottage (River Ogwen). A few minutes drive takes you to the upper reaches of the Lligwy, Conwy and Glaslyn rivers. The National Mountain Centre at Plas y Brenin is a 15 minute drive. The National Whitewater Centre at Bala is approximately 40 minutes by car. For sea paddlers the Menai Straits (dividing Anglesey from the mainland) is just 6 miles away.

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beach is Lavan Sands that extends from Llanfairfechan to Bangor (5 miles away). This 7 mile stretch of sands is teeming with wildlife. Its cockle and mussel beds are world famous.

Travel:

A car is recommended although a shuttle bus stops on its way to Bangor every hour in the lane 100 meters away. The A55 coastal corridor is just 2 miles away and Chester can be reached in 1 hour. Both the coastal towns of Llandudno and Caernarfon are 20 minutes by car in either direction. The Island of Anglesey suspension bridge is 7 miles away affording convenient road access to the whole of the island. Anglesey airport and Holyhead Port (fast ferry to Dublin) are both app 20 minutes by road.

Notes:

  • Outside: The large kitchen patio doors lead out directly onto a South facing patio. It's a very quiet and private outdoor living space equipped with a patio table, chairs, parasol and a bbq. There are views to the surrounding mountains and all through the year squirrels pop by to store acorns on the lawn. Utility Room: An essential jacket and boot storage area is provided on entry into the front porch/ utility room. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: We include all bedlinen and towels for up to 4 people. The cottage is cleaned weekly. Please pack your own beach towels.
