About the property

E4001

We are a small farm, now non-working except for a few chickens, four sheep and our friendly dog Meg. The two cottages, Rose and Bryony, were converted in 2011 from former cowsheds by the architect Nigel Stock, and are furnished with furniture from Mark Product - our expanding high end furniture business. The design is contemporary with wooden floors and fresh colours. All amenities are new and to a high standard. The cottages are all on one level with views across fields and each has a private west-facing deck with seating and barbecue. You are free to roam over our eight acres with a stunning view from the top taking in the span of Cornwall from north to south coasts.

Flexiblity in accommodation is available for larger family or friends group as we have an adjoining door that will enable you to access both cottages.

For children we have a field with a swing and trampoline sunk into the ground, treehouse and lots of space to explore and make dens. We are also close to many of Cornwall's finest beaches on the north, south and west coasts. The towns of Falmouth, Truro and Penryn are all close by. A perfect base for a Cornwall holiday.

About Kathryn Miller

We are John and Kathryn Miller, we have 3 children, Rosie, Eve and Charlie.

We moved to Higher Lidgey in 2005 from east London. It had been in the same family for many years. Kathryn runs her own HR Development business and works for Falmouth University. John is a director of furniture company MARK Product. We are a typically busy family!

Kathryn Miller purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Kathryn Miller chose Cornwall

What we loved about this property was its seclusion whilst still being very accessible. It is a proper rural area - the real Cornwall, not a tourist honeypot. However it is so close to beaches, amazing walks and in between the towns of Truro and Falmouth.

What makes this cottage unique

Because the owners are on-site the properties are very well looked after and we are available if there are any problems. We also make sure the cottages are warm and cosy and there is fresh milk, flowers and wine for you when you arrive.

In spite of this convenience, most visitors won't see anything of us while you are here as the cottages have independent access and face away from our farmhouse.

We have 8 acres, away from the road, which you are free to roam (livestock permitting which occasionally use 6 of the acres).

The cottages are brand new conversions of old farm buildings, and very high specification in terms of design, comfort and furnishings.

You can rent one or both of the properties. We find some of our returning guests often do this. Grandparents or friends stay in one cottage and the family in the other. You have your own seclusion but can get together very easily as and when you want to!

My Perfect Escape

  • 5 of 5

An open plan, clean, well equipped hide away cottage complete with romantic log burner for those chilly evenings. Dog friendly, but never any sign that a dog has been a previous guest! Nothing is too much trouble, from immaculate and plentiful bedding to detailed information about places to visit and where to try local produce. Location excellent, quiet with a garden and beautiful views, only a few minutes drive into Falmouth and perfectly placed to explore the whole of Cornwall's coastline and historic places.

It's family owned and they care. We have a stress free and relaxing holiday break, visiting the best of Cornwall, why else would we return again and again!

Lovely week away

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week away staying in Kathryn's beautiful Bryony cottage. The cottage was clean and cosy with milk, wine and a few other things provided for when you arrive. We enjoyed the BBQ as well as the log fire, beautiful views to watch the sunset. For us, the location was perfect, we love being in the country side. We couldn't fault this cottage at all we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it. We definitely will be returning.

Lovely, clean cottage with good facilities.

  • 5 of 5

Cottage centrally located for visiting Cornwall. There was plenty of space for 2 people plus large dog and parking was easy. Could sit outside and not be overlooked and their was a decent sized garden and fields for exercising our dog. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing break or to explore the many sights of the area.

Secluded space, put together with care

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with our toddler and felt so at home here. The beautiful views across fields, the peace, and the private feel of the place make you feel you're in the middle of nowhere; and yet the pub and shop are walkable, and it's a great location for reaching all corners of Cornwall by car. So much care has gone into the detail of making this a comfortable, clean and easy place to stay...I miss it already. The Cornish light is famously beautiful; just remember your eye mask if you plan on sleeping past daybreak.
