About the Owner

I harboured an ambition to own a property in Italy for many years and finally made my dream come true in 2006. As a family, we love spending time at Paradiso, and have learned much about the area and history of this part of Italy over recent years. I'm now trying to learn to speak Italian, and can order drinks and meals with ease - do I need to learn anything else?

Magical

  • 5 of 5

My husband, 2-year-old, and I had an absolutely magical stay at Paul's apartment. It's a steep, windy road up the mountain, but that's typical of every town in this region of Tuscany. We chose this location because it appeared to be somewhat off the beaten path of typical tourist destinations, and it was -- just what we wanted. We felt like we were staying in a true Italian village. We ate 4 out of 7 nights at the restaurant on the hill, served by waitresses who didn't speak a word of english, and who served the tastiest, most fresh italian foods.

The view from the apartment is spectacular. I wished we'd spent more time lazing about there. But we took day trips every day to other tiny mountain-top villages, eating gelato, and taking in the sights. We also spent a day in Sienna, an awesome little city. Biking the wall with kids is such a fun activity. The apartment also is just a couple hours from other great sites - Cinque Terre, Portovenere, Florence, the list goes on.

Thanks so much for your hospitality, Paul!

Magnificent Tuscan Experience

  • 5 of 5

If you have a romanticized view of what a vacation in the Tuscan Hills can be like, this villa really delivers! It is truly a magnificent. The award winning gardens are amazing and you feel like royalty walking through them. The view from the bedroom is outstanding. You open up the large french windows and are greeted with the sweet smell of roses. Nothing is more relaxing than looking down from your veranda at the clouds in the valley below.

We had an excellent stay. Paul was helpful throughout. We also got a private Chef recommended by the housekeeper and enjoyed a special evening with some magnificent food and wine. The pool is heated and warm and also has a great view of the valley below. The local town is small and has a couple restaurants. In nearby Barga and Lucca, there are some excellent restaurant choices to pick from. There is an organic winery nearby where you can enjoy wine tasting, lunch and a personal tour of the vineyards.

The Villa itself is very spacious and comfortable. There are lounge chairs, benches and tables scattered throughout the estate where you can relax or get some sun.

Highly recommended!

Adorable villa with breathtaking views

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time here. And more than we anticipated. What a stunning part of the world, what an iconic position Paradiso takes up on top of the hill (mountain?) and what a view it enjoys. Home made sausage pasta on the balcony, under the stars anyone? We got out and about; romantic Lucca, Pisa, Barga, the beach and the charming Pinocchioland. Basically tore through the insightful Paradiso guide in a week! And still had time spare to spend by the pool and in the gardens just messing around in the sunshine. Superb.

A room with a breathtaking view

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have enjoyed 3 amazing summers in this historic hillside retreat and love the seclusion, beauty and facilities it provides. The owners are always helpful and provide excellent guidance on activities, restaurants and navigation of the area. We are going back this year and cannot wait.

Gorgeous views, wonderful property

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Paradiso. Paul was so helpful throughout the booking process and provided lots of useful information prior to our arrival. Paradiso is an apartment on a beautiful estate, but we didn't see or hear anyone else the entire time we were there. The rooms are lovely, but two of them overlook passages which make them feel a little dark. Probably lovely in the hot summer and this didn't detract from the great living space. Everything was spotlessly clean and there was even a hamper of food waiting for us. Kitchen is well equipped, towels were fluffy and there is a great DVD library- what more could you want?? The views from the living room are incredible and impossible to capture in a photo. We travelled with a baby and a toddler which worked well in the property as the walls are solid. Even in October the pool was gloriously warm, even the baby had a swim! Great location for exploring northern tuscany, particularly Lucca, but you need a head for heights as the way to the property is steep, windy and stunning. Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Delighted you enjoyed your stay at Paradiso. I agree that no photos can truly capture the majesty of those views! Well, not with my camera anyway! I'll keep trying. Thanks. Paul

Location

From the Owner

I looked at many properties to buy in the Tuscany area, but knew I'd found my ideal as soon as I saw Paradiso. The beautiful gardens, amazing views and outstanding decor of the property made me buy it on the spot. Me, my partner and eight year old daughter spend as many weeks as we can at Paradiso each year - it's a true home from home for us, and we hope guests think the same too. The local village of Coreglia is a 10 minute walk, and we love to go there to pick up bread each morning, have a coffee (as well as going to the local bar for an aperitivo most evenings!). In the mountains you really are on top of the world, yet can still be in Barga (20 mins), or Lucca (35 mins) quickly. We can't think of anyone - family, friends, guests - who've not been bowled over by their visit to Paradis

Facilities

From the Owner

I doubt very few villas will offer the mountain views, extensive gardens, and clean air that come with Paradiso. This is an outstanding part of Tuscany - not crammed with tourists like Chiantishire, but providing a cornucopia of things to do from medieval festivals, sightseeing and food and music celebrations. There are fantastic restaurants serving outstanding food and drink, and overall prices are certainly lower than the more heavily populated tourist strongholds. You can have all of this and still be in Pisa (60 minutes) or Florence (90 minutes) or the coast (60 minutes) if you want to be. Many guests don't go much further than the villa, garden, pool and Coreglia though! Guests also love having an English speaking housekeeper close by!
