Tigh Mo Mhiann: Well-equipped cottage with original charm. No smoking no pets.

Updated: 11-Nov-2016
Cottage in Roybridge, Fort William, Scottish Highlands - Very Rural But With Easy Access To West Highland Line Trains And Bus Stop Nearby.

Tigh Mo Mhiann is a delightful former blacksmith's cottage in the stunning highland scenery of Roybridge. Ideal base for hill walking, winter sports and fishing. Large garden. Easy access to public transport. Real fire and well-equipped kitchen.

The price estimates for short stays on the OwnersDirect and HomeAway sites are wildly inaccurate! For full information and accurate pricing, please see the owner's site the name of which can no longer be shown here! You can easily get to it though using the property name: "Tigh Mo Mhiann".

The stairs are steep and this cottage is not recommended for those with mobility difficulties. Roybridge is only 8 miles from the Nevis Range mountain sports centre and 12 miles from Fort William. In the opposite direction is Fort Augustus and Loch Ness. Some of our visitors manage a day trip to the Isle of Skye.

About the Owner

Amanda and Bern Friman- we live in Bedford and we never fail to be in awe of the Scottish scenery. We love a range of outdoor activities so Scotland is ideal for our own holidays. We have been providing high quality holiday accommodation in Scotland for over 19 years!

As well as the spectacular natural scenery, Scotland has a wealth of architectural interest, combining robust and sturdy with ornate and beautiful. No other part of the UK is similarly speckled with such architectural gems; from tiny lodge houses to tower houses, castles and mansions. Although Tigh Mo Mhiann is a modest house, built for or by the village blacksmith, it is true to the traditional style of croft cottage that fits so seamlessly into the rural Scottish landscape.

Guestbook comments from the owner

- 17/09/2007 - Miss Silvia A.

As soon as we saw this cottage on the website we wanted to book it because it looked like the perfect place to spend our holiday in. Right from the start the owners were very helpful and the booking and payment were hassle free. The cottage is in a fantastic location, away from the hustle and bustle of town life. It's a quaint little cottage and as soon as we pulled up we thought how beautiful it was. It's got everything you could possibly need and is well equipped with kitchen essentials, bedding, towels etc. On a particularly rainy day we made up a lovely fire in the lounge and the cottage was warm and cosy in no time at all.

It is only a short drive or bus ride away from fort william, and the railway station is practically right outside so it is easy to get to places for sightseeing. It is a short walk to the Stronlossit inn where we had a very enjoyable meal.

The description of the cottage advises of the steep stairs. They are steep but they add to the character of this delightful cottage. You get used to them and they certainly did not cause us any problem at all.

We would love to visit this area again and would not hesitate to book this cottage. Thank you to Bern and Amanda for providing such a lovely holiday cottage.

Hidden gem

  • 4 of 5

What a wonderful weekend we had, a beautiful cottage set in its own small garden with walks through woods to small hidden stream. Pub nearby (food not great) but very convenient and friendly.

Climbed Ben Nevis and done all touristy things from this great location, would highly recommend anyone to book this cottage, from the first contact with the owners ,it was a smooth and hassle free break.. thank you

From the Owner

We bought here because it was so difficult to find accommodation for weekend ski trips especially around Easter. There are a lot of myths about Scottish skiing. The truth is that you can't rely on it, even if the forecast is solid. It's true that you sometimes ski on ice, facing horizontal hail and in thick fog. But when it's good, I don't think there's anywhere to beat it.
