The villa Les Chênes Verts is situated in the “Provence Verte" The immediate surroundings are intimate with wonderful views on mountains of the Verdon, forests and vineyards. The principal house (6 people) and the new apartment below (4 people) offer four large terraces for sunbathing or lazy, shady afternoons. Sufficient tables and chairs allow you to enjoy extended lunches or dinners at various places. The romantic courtyard for “jeu de boules” has a fountain (lit at night). The large swimming pool (4.5 x11.7 meter) is private with full sunshine. The level of arrangement is superb: two fully equipped kitchens, an outside kitchen, 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms (3 with shower, 1 with full bath), 4 toilets, a laundry room, barbecue, pizza oven, cherry trees and many original details. The air-conditioned villa and apartment are for rent together (unit1) in high season. Ideal for large families, 2 families or group of friends. The villa of unit 1 and apartment (unit 2) are for rent separately in low/ mid season. The swimming pool is heated making swimming possible from April to November.

Excellent property, lovely pool, great views.

As 2 families holidaying together this property suited us well as each family had their own part of the house with lots of communal space for socialising. We loved using the outdoor kitchen and eating on the terrace. Air conditioning was great given the heat wave. The kids loved the pool and the inflatables. The area was lovely with plenty to explore. The house was very clean and well equipped. A fantastic, relaxing week - we would all like to return. Highly recommend!

a wonderfull stay at 'les chênes verts'

'Les Chênes verts'

A beautiful charming Provencal Villa indeed!!! Everything descripted regarding location, facilities,... was more than accurate. The property was very clean, and 'les gardiens' oo so friendly. Marie and David are more than just the house keepers! We were looking for a quiet environment to spend the holidays , we found more than that!! A very nice home for us and our 4 teenagers, a large refreshing swimming pool, a place in the center of the Var that I would recommend to all my friends . 'LeThoronet' a typical provencal village where you find all you need (bakery, fresh vegetables, butcher,...). At driving distance, in the range of 20 km, a lot of nice villages. What we love the most : Tourtour, 'le village dans le ciel'.

It was a perfect stay, hope to be back next year.

A piece of paradise

Having stayed two years running at Les Chenes Verts we have found it to be the perfect place for an extended family group. Whatever the weather or time of day, there is always somewhere pleasant to sit, to contemplate the gardens, the petanque court or the beautiful view of the distant hills. Some of the aspects that we found particularly beneficial were: the generous sized pool - we spent hours in it. The 2 units are very well equipped with everything you might need, particularly if you want to cook or need to do washing. The air conditioning was a welcome relief from the heat of the day and my parents were pleased to have their own self-contained accommodation. There are even yoga mats available - I can thoroughly recommend practising yoga at sunrise on the main terrace!

The property has been clean and ready for us both times we've stayed and the owner is very friendly and responsive to any questions.

Nearby attractions for the younger members of the family include canoeing on the Argens and accrobranche, both located together on the road to Carces – D562, and go karting at Le Luc. The nearby villages are a delight – Entrecasteaux and Villecroze being just two that are well worth a visit. The Tuesday market at Lorgues is good – but our main reason for visiting this year was to get our hands on the nougat sold at one of the stalls. It is very expensive but fabulous! Arrive early as it gets extremely busy. My brother took his daughter (19) on what looked like a hair-raising walk in the Gorges du Verdon, but they came back with huge grins on their faces. My son and I went for the gentler activity of snorkelling in the Med.

Overall, highly recommended.

PERFECT!!!

This is the best house we have rented over the past 6 years in France.

The house is perfect, beautiful rooms, 3 kitchens, great garden, large pool and several terraces (with breath-taking view). Also the location is perfect for trips. (beach, Verdon, Lorgues...).

Next year we 'll be back!!!

To have a second house in the Var was a longstanding dream. We looked for a location not too close to the hectic beach region, but still close enough to enjoy the Mediterranean see regularly. We are lovers of good wine (I’m even a hobby wine importer) and found our house in the middle of a fantastic wine area in the centre of the Var.

Coast/Beach:

The white sand beaches of Fréjus, which are ideal for children, are easily reached by toll road A8 within 40 minutes. Beaches of St. Tropez, Pampelone and St. Maxime are reached by roads through the Maures (40km). Hyeres is a bit further, but an easy drive on the A57 (65km). From Gien you can take the boat to the white sand of the Iles d’Hyeres.

Travel:

The villa is situated at 2km from the centre of the village Le Thoronet and only 6km from the toll roads A8/A57 can be reached: By car, via A8-A57, exit Le Cannet des Maures, direction Le Thoronet via the D17 at a distance of about 6km.

By train, the TGV (super high speed train, direction Nice) railway station at Les Arcs-sur-Argens at 20km. By plane, the airports of Toulon/Hyères at 65km, Nice at 95km and Marseille/Provence at 120km.

Distances:

The cities of Cannes, Toulon, Nice, Aix-en-Provence are at a distance of one hour or less by car. The Gorges de Verdon and the Mediterranean Sea is at three quarters of an hour (St. Tropez, Fréjus, Ste Maxime, Hyères. Closer by is Lorgues, with its huge Provençal market on Tuesday mornings, Les Arcs (20 km) with its interesting House of Wines and its restored medieval town. You find many typical Provencal villages in the immediate surroundings of Le Thoronet.

Further Details:

The nearby Plains of the Maures are world famous for its unique geology, plants, pins parasols and its unique species of turtles: a wonderful walking paradise. The village of Le Thoronet is known for its magnificent Abbey. In the village you will find 2 well equipped supermarkets, a bakery, a butcher and physicians. Larger shops and hypermarkets can be found at 10 km in Le Cannet des Maures, and in Le Luc en Provence.

The immediate surroundings offer many opportunities for an active vacation: hiking, biking (there are 19 biking trails), swimming, tennis, kayaking and above all golf. There are a number of golf courses to choose from. For more information click here and here.

Booking Notes:
Once you have decided to rent the property you receive an e-mail with the renting contract. After approval of its content you send 2 copies of the signed contract to us. A deposit of 30% is required at time of booking for definitive reservation Once received we return to you the contract signed by us. The balance together with a refundable security deposit of €500 (€300 for apartment) is due 1 month prior to your arrival date.

Changeover Day:
In principle renting is from Saturdays 3pm to Saturdays 10am.

Notes on prices:
The minimal standard rate indicated is the rental price for the main house for 6 persons, which we rent seperately in low season. See: www.myprovencevilla.com
When you rent 2 weeks or more the final cleaning is included in the rental price.
Reduction of apartment rental for 2 persons is € 150 per week.
Sheets and towels are included as well as other charges except for after-rental cleaning charge (mandatory) which is € 175 for unit 1 and € 90 for unit 2.
Refundable security deposit is € 500 for unit 1 and € 300 for unit 2.
Prices are quoted per week.

We fell for its location and wonderful views. The great plot of land was transformed into a garden full of flowers. Its location close to the highways A8/A57 is very practical for trips. The entire Provence region is within reach in one to maximum 2 hours. After upgrading the villa we have extended the house in 2010. The new very Provencal apartment is ideal for families like ours or to have holidays with friends. Four terraces surrounding the house, each with its specific atmosphere and the new sun-room invites to live always outside.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The fully equipped kitchen of the villa has its own terrace under the oak trees, rustic BBQ and pizza oven, a lovely spot! The outside kitchen has its sink, fridge, gas cooker and planchas. The overall equipment (tables, chairs, plates, cooking gear etc) is abundant for drinks and meals for 10 both at the villa as well as the apartment level. Outside: The outside is a particular strength of this property with terraces everywhere. Situated on land of 4000m2 where you find a lovely garden with abundant flowers, a play area and toys for children (swings etc.), a jeu de boules court that can be lit at night, table tennis, and room to park 3 cars. With its generous size of 4.5 x 11.7m the pool offers great swimming pleasure with sun the entire day. Its depth ranges from 1.1 to 2.3 m. Around the pool you find a large number of loungers and umbrellas. For security, the pool is fenced and has a gate with a security lock. For the early or late season (May and September) there is a cover to guard the water temperature overnight. Outside are tables and chairs for dinning and various lounge chairs on the terrace all for up to 10 persons. Villa surrounded by (partly covered) terraces, one of which is connected to a sunroom of 16m2.
