The house is fine, the pool unusable for the week and the neigbours are noisy with building works

We stayed for a week at the end of July, having spent the previous week in a peaceful location only some 70 miles away.

On arrival the pool was a deep green colour and only the first step was visible. After treatment we could just about see the 2nd step on the day we left. If I could attach a photo to this I would, only a municipal duck pond would have been a worse shade of green!

The neighbours to one side were engaged in various building activities, so we got to hear during the day until about 7pm each day, a good mix of just about every power tool, from a JCB (French equivalent of) through cement mixers, chain saw, drill, to a compressor running. The neighbour directly adjacent to the property also has a habit of reversing his van up to the fence next to the pool, filling the area with fumes, while jump starting his collection of vehicles, only surpassed one afternoon when he had his bike pointing in our direction, all of 15 feet away and proceed to rev it like mad for 15 minutes while fiddling with the carburation. Suffice to say our grown up kids would not stay in the garden and just watched DVDs while we were at the house (good supply of these being provided).

Peaceful and tranquil is not what I would call it.

In balance, others have had a good relaxing holiday there from the comments in the visitors book, so perhaps we were just very unlucky. I sure wish I had booked the previous place for 2 weeks where the pool was crystal clear and even though next to an active farm was very peaceful.

Communications from John were poor and only after a month did we get the security deposit back. There was no offer of compensation for not being able to use the pool, not that makes much difference.
