Townhouse in Calpe, Costa Blanca North, Spain - Quiet Relaxing Location, 10 Minutes Walk To The Beach And Calpe Town Centre And Supermarket

This modern four bedroom townhouse is set in a private and secure residential complex of 22 similar properties with beautifully maintained pool and communal area, which also includes showering and wc facilities, grassed and paved sunbathing areas, a petanque (boules) area (boules provided in the house). In addition to the larger pool there is also a toddlers’ pool. The main town of Calpe is only 15 minutes’ walk away (less than 1km, flat gradient) where you will find beautifully, clean and sandy beaches with play areas for younger children, and an excellent selection of bars and restaurants to accommodate all tastes. There is a supermarket, commercial centre and tennis club also within 10 minutes’ walking distance. The house benefits from full gas central heating for the cooler months and air-conditioning for the lovely hot summer months.

About the Owner

We bought our house new in 2005 to use as a family holiday home with our two children. We furnished and equipped the house to a very high standard for our own use and comfort rather than to a budget. The kitchen is particularly well equipped with cutlery, dinner service, cups and glasses for 16 people which means that you can get the maximum benefit of the dishwasher and minimise time spent ‘washing up’. We also bought good quality beds, as we had had some less than pleasant experiences in the past trying to get a good night’s sleep on what felt like little more than a piece of foam on a frame. 2012 was our first year offering the house for guests beyond close friends or family and we attempted to include everything that guests might need to enjoy a great family holiday.

Fantastic stay in a great villa in Calpe

The property was all you could ask for and more.

Loads of space, lovely secure good sized pool, great outside space.

Extremely well equipped with everything you could need.

Umbrellas and chairs for the beach, inflatables, a safe.

TV , games, great kitchen, air con.

And Calpe what a lovely place, our first time, the beaches are great, usual quality restaurants and bars.

We would highly recommend the property and the resort.

Fantastic house and wonderful owners

We booked this house for 2 weeks this summer, from the initial booking to the actual holiday everything went very smooth. Gillian and David were excellent owners, we spoke on the phone at length about the house, the area, transfers etc. Leading up to the holiday they sent a holiday pack with information. All very professional

The house itself is fabulous; it has everything you need for the stay. From small items such as dishwasher tablets to larger items like inflatables for the pool. The house is secure with gates at the front and rear making children playing very safe. Private parking is ideal and the house shades the car for most of the day. The rear garden area is a large patio with BBQ and table / chairs, we had around 5 BBQs during our stay.

The house has Wifi which kept my teenagers entertained and the wifi even reaches the pool area. We decided to take a “fire stick” with us so in the evenings once we put the younger children to bed we would sit and stream a movie.

The pool area is clean and well maintained, the other neighbours are friendly and everyone says hello, the pool wasn’t cramped and at max only had 3 families using it. The pool area has 3 white sunbeds for communal use, we simply took the sunbeds from the house to the pool In the morning, the beds are very light and its not much effort at all.

There’s an Aldi supermarket roughly 5 minute drive away which stocks pretty much everything you need for the holiday. There is also Masymas supermarket about a 3 minute drive from the House, in here they have a butcher section which make fresh chicken skewers, sausages etc which are perfect for BBQs.

We found the wasn’t much difference in the price between car rental and booking a minibus to take us, if possible I would recommend getting a car. We took advantage of ours and had days out to Terra Mitica, Aqualandia, Mundomar and also a daytrip shopping to Benidorm.

We ate out quite a few nights and found the food good yet reasonable; HQ Gastropub was out favourite place. We are a family of 6, our maximum bill was 102 euros for 3 courses with drinks. In total the area is very reasonable, we came home with 600 euros.

I would definitely consider returning!

Superb standard of accommodation

Our family enjoyed a wonderful stay in Calpe complimented by superb accommodation of the highest standard. The townhouse is well located in a quite neighbourhood within a 10 to 15 minute walk of the town centre and the beach is also within easy reach. Plus with the shared pool on site providing a welcome releif to cool down and the table tennis available in the townhouse grounds there is plenty to keep the children and adults entertained, making this the perfect family friendly accommodation option.

The townhouse is fully equipped to the highest standard providing everything that you need to enjoy a relaxing stay and we would happily return and stay here again to explore more of Calpe and the surrounding area has to offer, especially the Old Town for some culinary treats.

Spacious well located villa with great facilities

We had a wonderful stay at this villa. As a large family with three children and four adults we found the villa extremely spacious. It catered well for families with use of lilos, buckets and spades etc as well as table tennis in the back garden, which was a great source of entertainment over the holiday. As the villa was 10 - 15 mins walk from the beach and all bars/restaurants it was ideally placed for walking into the resort in the evening. We would definately go back again thank you

Lovely holiday

The house is lovely, modern and clean and has everything you could need. The pool is lovely and a few steps from the back door. Outdoor terrace area private and perfect if you have kids, we enjoyed a few bbq's on the terrace. The location of the house is perfect too- only 15-20 minute walk to the promenade where you will find a number of restaurants and bars- Tango and Bar Coco are lovely for a pre or after dinner cocktail overlooking the sea. Most places to eat along promenade offer good selection of dishes and most are very reasonably priced (we actually came home with a few hundred euros!) We enjoyed a few nights eating out overlooking the sea :) There is also a Lidl supermarket about 3 minute drive from the house which was very handy. My only gripes would be: no wifi at the house, only 4 sun beds by the pool so had to carry the ones from the terrace back and forth every day, the second beds in the twin rooms are only trundle/pull out beds and are getting a bit rickety and creaky so we didn't sleep to well, Everytime we turned over they made a racket and woke one another up. Also worth noting the two beds on the mezzanine area aren't ideal for young children as its a small area at tip of a flight of stairs with railings over that children could be attracted to climbing on- but David and Gillian make u aware of this anyway. All in all we had a wonderful holiday, loved the house, location and Calpe itself. David and Gillian are very helpful and are great at communicating with you from start to finish. We will definitely return at some point :)

Lovely Spacious Villa in a lovely town.

A lovely clean, comfortable spacious villa which felt like home. The pool is very clean and we used it 2 to 3 times a day (the kids loved the late night swims). A 10 minute walk into the town which had great restaurants, shops, markets, funfair and a lovely sandy beach. The location of the villa is great if you don't like being in the heart of all the night life noise, as it was very quiet and secure for children. Close to Lidl and a new 24 hour Mcdonalds,

From the Owner

Once we had decided that the Costa Blanca was the area in which we wanted a holiday home we spent many months looking at properties and suitable locations. We narrowed our search down to northern Costa Blanca as we felt that the area was more interesting with the mountain ranges, forests and traditional towns and villages rather than the south. Calpe came out on top as it is just the right size, having a good selection of bars and restaurants, beautiful blue flag beaches and a lovely old town of narrow streets and traditional painted houses and is convenient for both Alicante and Valencia. It still feels very Spanish especially during the fiesta times which are dotted throughout the year.

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary


The house is 15 minute walk to the beach (0.75 miles) which is dominated by the ‘Penon de Ilfach’ rock which separates the two Blue Flag beaches of La Fossa and Arenal. Calpe has a marina and a working harbour where you can watch the local fishermen landing their catches and experience a live auction which takes place daily around 4pm. Calpe enjoys a number of spectacular fiestas and parades/firework displays throughout the year (details and dates can be provided upon request).


The nearest airports are Alicante (approx. 60km/50-60 minutes’ drive) and Valencia (120km approx). Car hire is not essential as all facilities are within easy walking distance, but is recommended. Benidorm is a 20 mins drive and Alicante approx 45 mins. There is a good modern train service from Calpe to Alicante/Benidorm and Denia. If you are looking for car hire we have always used www.carjet.co.uk as they provide vehicles from a number of different hirers at good rates.


Benidorm - 20km (20-25 mins) includes Terra Mitica and Terra Natura Theme Parks, Aqualandia Water Park.

Alicante - 40km (40 mins).

Moraira - 10km (15-20 mins).

Denia - 20km (20-25 mins).

Jalon Valley - 15km (20mins).

Guadalest - 25km (30-40 mins).

Sorry no pets allowed. The house is arranged over four floors, the bedrooms are on three levels -

The first flight of marble stairs from the living area leads to bedrooms 1 and 2 (each of which has two single beds and would be suitable for toddlers - a safety gate is also provided for one of these rooms); there is then a half-flight of stairs which leads to the Master Bedroom, followed by another two half-flights of stairs at the very top of which is the room where the sofa beds are. This area is like an open mezannine area without a door and one side has metal stair balustrades overlooking the stairs. The nature of the room, being open to the stairs and the size of gap between the staircase balustrades

(check lounge photograph 3 which shows the handrail arrangement) makes this accommodation unsuitable for unsupervised younger children.

A 15% non-refundable deposit is required with your booking and the balance payable 6 weeks prior to date of arrival. There is a £300 damage/security deposit payable with the balance which is refunded at the end of your stay subject to property inspection. Changeover Day:
Changeover will normally be on a Saturday vacating by 10am and access provided after 4pm to allow for cleaning and linen change. Changeover day & times can be varied subject to availability and prior agreement.

The key benefit is the location and proximity to the town, the beach and the local amenities and the fifteen minutes’ walk to each of these is a true estimation. This convenience is not at the expense of being surrounded by high rise apartment blocks or the noise of traffic or busy bars and restaurants. The location is peaceful, the communal areas and pool are substantial and are maintained to a very high standard. The private garden terrace and walls allow a large secure environment for younger children, away from the pool area. We have tried to include everything required for a family holiday including those little things like beach bat and ball, boules, beach chairs, beach balls, sun brollies etc. the expense of which can soon mount up and are all provided free for use by our guests.
