180 degree sea view. An end of terrace one bedroom, newly refurbished apartment. Sleeps 2/4 (1 twin Bedroom. +2 pull out sofa beds). 7 min walk to yellow sand Beach and Local Amenities. Gated apartment complex with large, communal terrace in front of private patio, giving a unique sense of spaciousness. What stands out is the light, huge sky and panoramic sea view. 10 min. from airport, with car hire and a supermarket right at the entrance of the complex. Best of two worlds: quiet, yet close (5 min.) to the seafront with its shops, restaurants, beautiful promenade and miles of sandy beach. The whole complex is in first class condition with a bright, fresh look.

About Gabriele Hock

Both my husband and myself are professional therapists in private practice in Oxford, England. We are non-smokers and try to live according to ethical/green considerations, to the extent this is at all possible. We have two grown up daughters and we all love visiting this dramatic island of Lanzarote. Rob is also an artist and the apartment has some of his colourful watercolours and oils on the walls.

Why Gabriele Hock chose Puerto del Carmen - Tias

I had no intention of ever buying an apartment in a holiday resort. Being one for 'off the beaten track', the whole idea felt alien to me. But then I joined a friend at her Atalaya holiday apartment in March and my previous attitude was transformed.

In brief I fell in love with the entire holiday complex, and particularly with Casa Maria, an apartment with its unique spaciousness, facilitated by a huge outdoor patio which belongs to the community but is mainly empty. The patio leads to a couple of gorgeous swimming pools.

So, what made me make an offer on the second day of my stay was the sea view, the space, the light, the sky and the sense of tranquility and freedom that all of this provided: my escape from long British Winter months was guaranteed.

What makes this apartment unique

Atalaya is super convenient: 10 min. taxi ride from the airport, its own supermarket at the entrance, yellow sand beaches round the corner, British and German doctor's surgeries, a health spa with reasonably priced saunas and massages and golf course. While you are only minutes away from shops, bars and restaurants you are far enough not to loose that sense of peace and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle. Atalaya gives you thus the best of both worlds. And the beach of Puerto del Carmen 7 mins walk away is simply the best. Casa Maria is unique as it enjoys a huge outdoor patio, which other apartments don't have. The apartment is newly refurbished and in excellent condition, with carefully chosen fabrics and as it says above with our 4 foot statue of Quan Yin, goddess of compassion.

Outside: On our terrace is a rectangular glass top table with 6 comfortable chairs and parasol. In addition there is a cushioned bench seat with lots of beach equipment stored in the box beneath the seat, plus a small tree in a large pot. In the communal area: white and blue sunbeds, parasol stands, communal garden and swimming pool (1 big one and one for children). There is a generous spacious feeling to the whole of the outside, with not many people. 10 palm trees and the rest hibiscus flowers and oleanders. A lovely space with great views of the sea and tops of houses. Utility Room: Mop and bucket are in the bathroom, clothes horse to dry wash, etc. Iron & board, electric fan, electric heater, First Aid kit, tool box, spare light bulbs, sewing kit, instruction manuals and many other useful items are in cupboard in bedroom. Cleaning / Towels / Linen: Bed linen and bed covers, bathroom towels, beach towels and kitchen tea towels are included. Property is immaculately cleaned before arrival.

Home from Home

Just returned home after staying in Gabys apartment for 12 days. Had a great time and the apartment was excellent. Everything we wanted was available in apartment and a lovely terrace outside. Lovely complex and pool area. Plenty of sunbeds. No getting up at silly o"clock to put towels out lol. Hoping to return in 2018.

Stu & T's Stay at CASA MARIA 120B Apartment - 14/05/17 - 21/05/17

First impressions were 'Wow, what a beautiful apartment with stunning views'. And it just got better from there. The apartment was very clean with all amenities, washing machine and a good working power shower. The apartment is situated in a fantastic location, with only a 5 minute walk to the beach, restaurants, bars etc. We will definitely be staying there again if the apartment is available on the dates of our next visit.

The property was in a lovely location the view was perfect. Comfortable apartment with everything you would need. Didn't use the cooker went out every night. Shower very good. Not many people on the complex so very quiet. The transfers from vinka was very efficient with lots of information for us. Would love to stay again.

Excellent apartment, home from home.

We loved our stay at this apartment, everything had been thought of. Very comfortable beds. Plenty of towels. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need for your stay. Loved the outside space, pool a bit cool but you get used to it. Plenty of sun beds. Very handy for the supermarket, although it's a bit of a climb back up the stairs. Loads of information about places to visit and good restaurants. The local buses are so cheap to use we travelled to Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise and Teguise market. I can't thank Vinka enough, she picked us up at the airport and I discovered I had left my back pack at the carrousel. She went out of her way to try and trace it and went back to the airport that same day to pick it up when it was found. She is a lovely person and was so helpful during our stay. I will certainly recommend this apartment.

Very homely, peaceful and clean.

Great views and in a peaceful location yet near to everything you need. Good restaurants and shops very near by. Fine for us but there are a lot of steps up to apartment but worth the climb. I loved sitting on the patio early morning watching the sun rise and there it stayed till early evening. Vinka is excellent from picking you up from the airport to dropping you off at end of holiday. Would recommend highly

5-7 min walk to the best beaches in Lanzarote. Sand is golden. Promenade very well kept with palm trees, flowers and shrubs, miles of promenade with many beach cafe's and restaurants. Pleasant, not too hyped up.


Arrecife airport 10 min. taxi ride away (12 -15 euros). If you want to see the rest of the island which we highly recommend you need a car. Car hire is in a garage situated in the basement of Atalaya in Calle San Pedro Barba, 20 euros per day. If you hire for at least 7 days and mention my apartment and name you can hire for 15 euros per day.


Tequise market in Tequise town on a Sunday is approximately 20 - 30 min. away. Haria towards the North 35-40 min, El Golfo 25 min., fire mountain about the same. Arrecife 10 -15 min. Lanzarote is a relatively small island and all destinations are easily accessible.

Further Details:

Restaurants, shops, banks, doctor's surgery, wellness spa, supermarkets, tourist info. are all in walking distance between 1 and 10 mins away. The old port is a 20 min. walk away with some very good restaurants. These are penciled onto the map which hangs on the kitchen wall. There is also an anthroposophical centre which offers various types of therapies, workshops, lectures and cultural evenings, with a wholefood restaurant. See Centro Anthroposophica near the Biosphere. The biosphere near the Old Town is a modern shopping complex, good for clothes shopping.
