Are you looking for an activity holiday or one where you want to relax and enjoy the more tranquil of leisure pursuits then look no further as Languedoc Roussillon can accommodate your every wish. If it is the sea and beaches you want then the Mediterranean is very accessible. If it is skiing/mountaineering or walking then the Pyrenees are less than an hour and half away. On the doorstep there is also much more just waiting to be discovered. Cagarot is a delightful and charming farmhouse set in the countryside just outside Plaigne on the border with the Ariege. The farmhouse provides the ultimate escape-from-it-all; the recently renovated property provides elegant accommodation for up to 12 people. The garden with pool is a delight; a lavender lined path leads to the pool and is illuminated at night. This charming farmhouse is in an ideal location for exploring southern France. You will find it easy to totally switch off in this beautiful and calm environment.

About Robert Eustace

We have finally realised our dream of owning a property in France. Having spent just over 2 years looking and setting ourselves some very clear boundaries and objectives we were convinced that our dream house would be located in the foothills of the Alps (we are all very keen skiers). This was until a very good friend invited us to stay in their beautiful home near Fanjeux. Over a period of 18 months we fell in love with the area. It has everything we could ask for - sailing/windsurfing for those inclined towards watersports, golf/cycling/swimming/walking and horse riding and that all important skiing in the winter. The most important box it has ticked for us is the 'Get Away from it All' box. We can really get away from it here and enjoy all that this beautiful region has to offer. Notes on accommodation: For your comfort we have provided Egyptian cotton linen in all the bedrooms. For those warm barmy nights a cotton blanket is provided. For the cooler nights we provide duvets. (your choice). All pillows are feather by default unless you specify your preference for synthetic. All bedrooms have fans and hairdryers. In addition we will provide a complimentary 'get you in pack' (consisting of some of the essential you will need (including a bottle of the local (excellent) bubbly) just in case you arrive after the shops have closed. Outside: Cagarot is set in 0.7 acres. It has a private, 9m x 4m heated swimming pool, patios, terrace just outside the kitchen, lawn, barbecue area with table & chairs, sun-loungers and flower-beds. The swimming pool is for guests exclusive use. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen is provided. It includes Egyptian cotton linen in the bedrooms, towels and pool towels. The property is cleaned and all linen changed once a week. For guests staying more than one week only the linen is changed on the middle Saturday.

Fabulous family friendly house in peaceful location

We have had a wonderful time. The house has been amazing - big enough for 3 families to both have their own space and spend time together. It is very well equipped and has amazing log burners for the chilly evenings, need to mention the comfy beds and nice towels too!

The location is great, we have visited Carcassonne, Andorra, Montesegur, Lac Montbel and others.

Tom, age 9 - The garden was good for kicking a ball around. The pool was a chilly but was fun to play in.

Wonderful house in an ideal location.

We were very impressed not only with the property but the location was ideal. Having been been on dozens of trips to France the location exceeded our expectations. It's convenient for Toulouse which easyjet have social flights times, (or ryanair Carcassonne). The med is about an hour, the Pyrenees not far and a host of wonderful towns nearby.

The house itself is excellent. You can tell the owners have prepared it to their own standards not as a rental property (for instance the quality of beds, bedding and furniture) We were a party of 8 but the house can take 12 in 6 bedrooms comfortably so we had more than enough space. The neighbour Jean Christophe meets you on arrival who is a true gentleman. As long as you can speak franglais you'll be fine. He'll make sure that all is well during your stay.

The pool is wonderful for families with steps one end and a secure cover. There is a barbeque around the pool area. The lawn is large for kids (and big kids) to run around and play.

In summary a great home in a great location. Wouldn't hesitate to return. Thank you to the owners who clearly love the house.

Fantastic house in a fantastic location!

We loved this house! Instantly recognisable by the blue shutters on the windows, it was easy to find on the outskirts of the village. We were met immediately by the wonderful Jean Christof who gave us a thorough tour of the building and its peculiarities, as well as the pool. The house was full of character and well furnished and appointed. Large airy bedrooms had lots of windows to let in the lovely light that this part of the world seems to get lots of . Downstairs, the two living rooms allowed the adults to chill in one room while the kids watched the large TV in the other and made use of the wifi. The kitchen was modern and well equipped, with a icemaking fridge that the kids loved. The house is next to a road but it is very quiet and there wasn't any issue of noise at all. In fact the only noise came from the braying donkey up the hill and the odd fighter jet that seemed to fly low overhead in the early evening!

We visited in October but the weather was still warm in the day and we got to sit around the pool. The evenings were chillier but JC put out some logs for us to feed the wood burning stove in the living room, which was brilliant.

The house location is rural but there is lots to see within an hour's drive. Top visits for us were the medieval market square in nearby Mirepoix, the chateau at Foix, the caves at Niaux and Carcassonne. There are no shops in the immediate village but in belpech to the north (about 3km) there are numerous stores as well as a few bakers and a great butcher.

All in all a fabulous house in a fabulous place.

Exceptional accommodation and attention to detail

We loved it! The house is elegant, light, very clean, comfortable and extremely well equipped, complete with a relaxing pool area. It easily accommodated our large family and friends. The owners thought of every detail to make our stay special and memorable. From large and very comfortable beds with excellent linen and plump towels, to a kitchen that has all necessary cooking utensils and more (including sharp kitchen knives!). We enjoyed games in the garden, took advantage of the different eating areas depending on the time of day and felt very at home. We also took advantage of walking in the local beautiful sunflower-filled countryside, visiting the lake (with beach) and went to the coast for a special time in the Mediterranean sea. A big super-market was only a 15 minute drive away in Mire-poix, which is a stunning village with many restaurants and cafes. It even had a Sunday English church service that we went to (11 am fortnightly at the Cathedral). Our stay was superb. We highly recommend it, and look forward to returning. Thank you.

Beautiful house in amazing location

A beautiful spacious house, with lovely interiors and furnishings. The house is amazingly well equipped and very very comfortable. Perfect for families and friends to get together. The pool and garden area were again faultless. Very gorgeous nearby rustic french villages and a great lake not far away. Highly recommend!

Narbonne is the nearest beach to Plaigne at just over an hours drive away. Like many of the Mediterranean beaches Narbone Plage offers fine golden sand. There are cafes/restaurants and shops in the area too. Near to Narbonne is the port of Gruissan. Here you’ll find a lovely old village to walk round, a small castle, with cafes and shops close to the moorings

Travel:

A car is essential to get the very most out of your holiday. Toulouse - Blagnac Airport - 50mins. Carcassonne - Airport - 50mins. Montpellier - Airport - 2 hours. For those driving - we are 11 hours from Calais.

Distances:

Belpech - 7mins - All local amenities. Mirepoix - 15 mins - Medieval Market town with a Supermarket. Pamiers - 25 mins - Hyper Market - Car dealers. Carcassonne - 45 mins - airport - 'La Cite' Medieval Castle and Golf. Castlenaudry - 30 mins - Canal du Midi

Foix - 50 mins - Golf and Cathar Castle. Andora - 2 Hrs - Skiing/Pyrenees and Duty Free!!

Further Details:

Belpech - Approx 7 mins drive and is the nearest village for shops. It is a quaint small village with the river l'Hers running through it and has two bakeries, a butchers, post office, a garage (petrol & repairs), 2 mini markets, a pharmacy, Doctors, a tobacconist/newsagent and La Vixiege bar/restaurant. Mirepoix is about 15 mins away and is a lovely medieval market town with a cloistered square and cathedral (which took 500 years to build). There are plenty of cafes and restaurants for both daytime and evening meals. It has a market every Monday with local produce and holds special events throughout the summer months. We will provide you with more details when you arrive.

Change over dates are normally Saturday to Saturday, however outside peak times July/August, discretion is considered so please contact the owner. The house will be available from 4pm on the day of your arrival, the house must be vacated by 10am on the day of departure. We are very sorry but we can not accept any pets.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday. We ask guests to vacate the house by 10am and for guests not to arrive before 4pm. This allows us to clean and prepare the house.

Notes on prices:

Please contact the owner for special rates. A 5% discount is offered on booking of 14 days and 10% discount for all bookings of 21 days or more.
