Holiday Home in Stadl an Der Mur, Murau, Styria, Austria - Peaceful Location, Summer Activities On The Doorstep And 10 Minutes Drive To Nearest Ski Resort

Our detached chalet was built in the traditional Austrian style in 2008. It is a 15 minute walk to a small village, Stadl an Der Mur which has an excellent traditional restaurant and a few small shops. There is walking on the doorstep and a 380k cycle track just minutes away where you can cycle to the close by Medieval towns of Tamsweg or Murau or even to Slovenia!! There are also beautiful National Parks in the area. There is golf close by and whitewater rafting and dorse riding. In the winter there are numerous ski resorts the nearest only being a 10 minute drive away.

Sharon Cawtheray. I live in England with my partner, Andy and Duke our belgian shepherd dog. We both work but we enjoy lots of our holidays in Austria. We both enjoy skiing, mountain biking and walking in the Yorkshire Dales.

We purchased the property in 2008. We love Austria because of the beautiful mountain scenery and clean fresh mountain air. The property is a ten minute drive from the nearest ski resort and there are several others in the area. We also love the area in summer as we enjoy cycling and walking, but also sometimes just relaxing in the sunshine. The locals are very friendly and there is also some great local cuisine.

Car: necessary


The nearest airports are Klagenfurt - approximately 80 minutes drive, Salzburg approximately 90 minutes drive and Munich - approximately 2.30 - 3 hours drive.


Stadl An Der Mur which is a 15 minute walk and has tennis courts, volleyball

and an adventure playground. There is also a bathing lake / used for ice skating in winter. There are a few shops and cafes and traditional Austrian hotels which serve excellent food.


Rental rates


  • Booking Notes:
    A deposit of £100.00 is required on booking with full payment to be made 8 weeks before departure. The £100.00 deposit will be retained until confirmation is received from our managers that the chalet has been left in reasonable order

    Changeover Day:
    Change over days - preferably Saturdays but we can be flexible.

    Notes on prices:
    There is an additional charge of £65.00 to cover the final cleaning cost.

    Also payable is tourist tax which is 1 euro per adult per night

From the Owner

We really enjoy the fact that we have outdoor activities on the doorstep of our chalet - there are hiking trails right from the door and the 380k cycle track a two minute cycle away which goes all the way to Slovenia. For the more adventurous there is also whitewater rafting on the river Mur. We also enjoy the quietness of the area and find holidays in our chalet very relaxing. There are however, within a short drive two small beautiful medieval towns which have shops to meet your every need. There is also an excellent traditional restaurant within walking distance.

  • Outside: Outside are two decked areas to the front and rear so you can enjoy the sunshine at any time of day. There is also sufficient space for the parking of two cars. Utility Room: There is a small storage room for skiis, coats and walking boots etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen included. Property is cleaned before use - additional cleaning could be arranged at clients expense. Other: Conservatory/sunroom with underfloor heating. Double sofa bed. Dining table and chairs to seat 6.
