About Rowan Carver

Rowan Carver

Why Rowan Carver chose Ross-on-Wye

The area is just so beautiful and relaxing. There is so much to do - with the River Wye and the Royal Forest of Dean on the doorstep. Canoeing, horse riding, walking, bird watching, cycling, pot holing, climbing....you name it, you can do it here. Old Chapel Cottage used to be rented out as holiday accommodation many years ago by my parents (who live in Old Chapel House), and then as our families all got bigger with grandchildren arriving, it was used as a family overflow house for family gatherings. Now we have moved back to the area (we live a couple minutes walk away down the hill), we are renting it out again and look forward to welcoming you to Old Chapel Cottage and all that the area has to offer.

What makes this cottage unique

Whilst the cottage is in excellent condition, spacious, and full of character, it is the location and views which guests most remember. Peaceful, relaxing and so much to do on your doorstep. Children and adults alike love it so much - with a huge natural playground all around.

Car: necessary

There are two very good village shops within a 5 minute drive. The market town of Ross-on-Wye is only a 10 minute drive away and Monmouth is a 15 minute drive.

The Hostelrie, Goodrich - 20 minute walk

The Inn on the Wye - 10 minute walk

The Mill Race - 15 minute walk

Goodrich castle is a very short drive/20 minute walk away.

Old Chapel Cottage

  • 5 of 5

A quiet and peaceful cottage with fantastic views of the Wye Valley. The hosts were very kind and accommodating.

The cottage is within striking distance of most of the attractions that South Wales has to offer.

Note: when using your sat/nav coming from the north do not turn left on Bull's Hill Road as it will take you on a very circuitous route on narrow back lanes. Stay on B4234 and when you see the Inn on the Wye on the left slow down and you will see a mailbox on the right in about 100 metres or so which is opposite the turn-off to Lays Hill on the left.

a lovely place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Two families of three stayed in this great cottage in a fantastic location for all that this area has to offer. The cottage had most of the facilities two families with 13 year old boys could need and it was ideally situated for walks and bike rides in this scenic location.
