Well furnished, spotless apartment. Great views and a wonderful location for the ferry, beach and days out around the Island. Brilliant place for a family holiday. we didn't want to go home.

A very spacious, spotless, beautiful apartment, with stunning views from every window. fantastic location to explore the lovely Isle of Wight. The apartment has a great atmosphere and we were very comfortable here.

I have stayed at Sandlands twice now for the week of the Isle of Wight scooter rally and had a brilliant stay both times. The apartment is lovely and spacious, very clean and fresh, with all mod cons for a comfortable stay. The location is perfect.

Great apartment, well equipped, super location

  • 5 of 5

A modern, spacious flat, clean and well fitted out and equipped.

Excellent location close to the Esplanade and a few minutes walk from the town centre.

The owner was very helpful and answered emails promptly.

I'd certainly recommend the flat to friends and relatives.

Wow...super apartment and fantastic location!

  • 5 of 5

We (myself, Husband and 7 year old Daughter) were thoroughly pleased with this holiday home, it was a super find and the description is spot on! The apartment is very clean, well presented and very well equipped. Great communicaton from the owner Deborah before and after our stay. She made us feel very much at home.

We've been to Ryde before and love the area...the beach is just a few mins walk away as the apartment is a couple of roads up from the Esplanade, plus we had perfect weather!

I would highly recommend this apartment, Ryde and the Isle of White to anyone who wants a chilled out family holiday x

Fantastic base for a family holiday

  • 5 of 5

This lovely apartment with wonderful views was a fantastic base for our family holiday. The flat itself was light and clean with everything we needed in terms of plates, cooking equipment etc. Easy driving access to shops and activities meant getting around and getting settled in was a breeze. The beach and a number of play-parks were only a couple of minutes walk away, and the train from Ryde meant that you didn't need to use the car if you didn't want to. Also the owner, Debbie, couldn't have been more helpful with our rather last-minute booking!

All in all, it was exactly what we were looking for and we had a fantastic stay. I'm sure we'll be back!

Great base to stay

  • 5 of 5

Very modern, clean bright and tastefully decorated apartment and well situated for all local amenities. Couple of pubs nearby and main shopping streets less than 10 minutes walk. We stayed there to visit friends in Ryde and to do some walking in the area of which there are many. We really enjoyed our stay at this property it was in a quiet location and it was nice to relax in of an evening. A most enjoyable stay and would recommend this apartment.

Beautiful apartment overlooking the Solent

  • 4 of 5

A well-equipped, comfortable second floor flat which is very nicely furnished, clean and light within. The associated picture accurately shows the view from the dining/living room. There is a store and newsagent close by. Ryde town centre and restaurants are also nearby; Michelangelo's restaurant is definitely worth a visit. We found the flat ideally located for exploring the Island. We did a very enjoyable walk round the coast from the flat to Bembridge.

Minor quibbles. The stairs up to the flat might be demanding for someone with disability, and the lighting in the stairwell needs a bit of a knack to operate in the dark. The holster for both of the showers is set too high on the wall, so that the shower head is difficult to put back in place and results in water going over the floor if the shower rose is misdirected.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, much appreciated. Just a mention on the stairs, they are easy rising, short runs of 4 flights, as an oldie of 63 I can make it easily carrying laundry, so not so bad, and the fit elderly will have no problem. The shower heads have to be placed high, otherwise taller guys would have a problem standing underneath. Thanks again.

Excellent location

  • 5 of 5

Flat is in a great location, 2 minutes walk from the beach yet quieter as it is 1 road back from the front and the traffic. An allocated parking space and 2 bathrooms were very helpful too.

My wife and children (5 and 13) had plenty of room and would recommend to others without hesitation.

Location

From the Owner

Living in Hampshire, the Isle of Wight has always been a 'get away' for a few days, or even longer, to blow away the cobwebs, so it was obvious that we had to purchase a property eventually! The apartment was ideal as we didn't need to cross on the ferry, just the hovercraft from Southsea. It was a no brainer really, top floor with amazing views from all the windows, a short stroll from the beach and shops, and of course the hovercraft, the convenience was the key. Ryde is the gateway to the Island, and is a graceful, wonderful old Victorian town with so much to offer by itself but if you bring the car across, and park in the apartments own parking space, then there is the whole Island to explore!

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

plenty of cycling, walking, riding, tree climbing, sailing and children's activities nearby.

Coast/Beach:

The huge sands of Ryde and Appley are within a 4 minute walk away, with the marina close by. A boating lake is a few hundred yards away. Large park areas, and bowling greens on the seafront.

Further Details:

There are a wonderful array of individual shops in Ryde, all within walking distance, as are the restaurants. Appley Sands beach is a short walk away, and there is a boating lake and children's play park and fun fair close by. Planet Ice skating Rink and ten pin bowling, and the bowling greens are all within a short distance, about a 10 minute walk. Further afield, there is Queen Victoria's retreat, Osbourne House, The Needles, Carisbrooke Castle, Blackgang Chine, The famous IOW glass makers and the IOW Zoo with its white tigers to name but a few!

Cross on the hovercraft and visit Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard for a great day out. See Admiral Nelson's flagship Victory, and the brand new internationally famous multi million pound Mary Rose Museum, housing King Henry V111's tudor warship that sank in the Solent and was raised from the seabed in the 1980's, and houses many fascinating artefacts from that period, showing a glimpse of life in Tudor times. A must see!

Facilities

From the Owner

The benefits of staying at the apartment are the convenience if you don't have a car, as the transport system around the Island is the best from Ryde, and you can take the train to Portsmouth, and cross on the hovercraft. You are right by the best beaches, Appley beach being one of the best on the Island. The convenience of having the shops of Ryde within walking distance, and the restaurants. Planet Ice, and the bowling centre, plus the boating lake, and the children's play park are all a short stroll away. The little train starts and finishes at Ryde, and the main bus station is by the Hovercraft terminal. However, the apartment is fresh and modern, with views from all windows, so where else would you want to be!
