Lakefield is a detached property set in an enclosed garden with space for football, hide and seek, with a wooden deck & garden furniture. Downstairs, the House has spacious sitting room and well-equipped kitchen/diner both with spectacular lake and mountain views, 3 ensuite bedrooms all with flatscreen TVs. Free WiFi. Upstairs are 2 further bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a further sitting room & kitchen. The adjoining 1 bedroom cottage comes with great lake and mountain views, a living room/kitchen (marble work tops and high grade appliances) with a bedroom and bathroom upstairs and flatscreen TV in sitting room. Free WiFi. Both properties were extensively refurbished a few years ago with high-quality furniture, curtains and bathrooms. Quiet but convenient, at night you can hear the geese on the lake and the sheep in the fields. Both the house and cottage have wonderful lake and mountain views.

A very cosy cottage in a stunning location.

We had a brilliant week at Lakefield Cottage, the weather was good and the views were amazing. The cottage has all you need for an enjoyable and comfortable stay. It is very peaceful and you can certainly unwind.

Lovely little cottage

We spent a week at Lakefield Cottage the week following our wedding and it was exactly what we needed. The cottage had everything that you could need and it felt like home from home. The view of Esthwaite Water was stunning and it was lovey to look out at it from either the little garden or living room every evening.

We enjoyed lots of walking in and around the area, which also suited the dog, who enjoyed himself immensely throughout the week!

We had a lovely week and couldn't have asked for more!

From the Owner

We feel Lakefield is special because it is tucked away and yet convenient. It has a number of easy walks straight from the door but is also not far from some spectacular climbs. It is also a fairly easy drive to visit places associated with significant literary figures-good for wet weather! We love watching the view as it changes with the weather even when Coniston Old Man disappears behind the mist. Also watching the many birds & hearing the cows, sheep and geese. A wide range of outdoor activities are available in Grizedale Forest and on Windermere and Coniston, all of which are within 20 minutes' drive.

Atmospheric and historic Hawkshead-about 1 1/4 miles (5 minutes by car).

Further Details:

Great walks from the door. 3 mins walk to atmospheric pub (Tower Bank Arms) with great food, 3 minutes walk to Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's house. Victorian Bobbin Mill (English Heritage), Ruskin's house, Brantwood, Wordsworth's Grammar School (Hawkshead), Donald Campbell's Museum, boats on Coniston-scene of Swallows and Amazons are all within 20 minutes' drive. Grizedale Forest offers mountain biking. Fishing is available on Esthwaite Water & kayaking on Windermere & Coniston. Walk down to the lake (Esthwaite Water) & feed the ducks.

Tower Bank Arms, the pub featured in Beatrix Potter's books is a few minutes' walk with further pubs in Far Sawrey & Hawkshead. Hawkshead has a Co-op store, chemist, post office, doctor and excellent bookshop with puzzles etc.

Tesco will deliver groceries and there are supermarkets in Bowness (easily reached by ferry-when it is working) and Ulverston. There are outdoor tennis courts in Hawkshead & indoor courts in Ulverston.

Sorry - because Lakefield House is a sell out, we do not offer short-breaks/week-ends: minimum rental is 7 days.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday. Check-in from 4pm, check out 10am.

Lakefield can be reached from junction 36 of the M6 by travelling via Newby Bridge without having to endure the bottleneck from Windermere to Ambleside. The milkman calls daily and can deliver a wide range of items & the convenience of shops in nearby, picturesque Hawkshead makes it easy to pick up items you may have forgotten.
