About Ben Mangan

Tree Tops has been a holiday home for three generations. The quiet and picturesque location has been enjoyed by family and friends for seventy years. The family have now decided to make it available to discerning holiday makers who appreciate the quiet and beauty of the south Cornwall coast and countryside.

Ben Mangan purchased this house in 1942

Why Ben Mangan chose Truro & Falmouth area

I have been going to Tree Tops all my life and it is a place you will really fall in love with. Nothing much has changed in Port Navas for 50 years and holidays here are still about playing in the garden, exploring the woods and the river, and spending time as a family in the magical location.

A few reviews:

'We have enjoyed peace and tranquility in such beautiful surroundings and leave Tree Tops feeling recharged and rejuvenated! What a delightful cottage - so very comfy and cosy....loved every minute' Terry and Margaret, June 2016.

'Charming cottage in idyllic setting. Very well equipped and comfortable. Have enjoyed the rabbits in the garden, and a pheasant came calling too. Had an early morning call, usually at about 5.45, from a crow who thought it was a good idea to "knock" on the bedroom window!

This is my first time in Cornwall and there is lots to do and see from here and even the narrow lanes were not an issue after a day or so.

Would definitely recommend Tree Tops for a relaxing break'.

Sue, Vi, and Alan. May 2016.

Tree Tops has a magic all of its own - once seen always remembered. We have shared it for a few days and loved every minute. If you know of a better holiday let, you are fortunate indeed'. Sue and Colin, September 2016

What makes this house unique

You will wake up to the sound of birdsong and the stream at the bottom of the garden, and the wonderful view of the Helford River. You will have all the privacy you could want whilst you are just a short walk from the river which can be explored by boat, kayak, car, or on foot. At night you will hear owls in the woods behind the lawn, and again the stream below.

Secluded property with amazing views and garden

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Tree Tops in February and I was really surprised at how cosy and warm we were. The heaters were on when we arrived which was late at night due to terrible storm weather and traffic and fresh flowers were on the kitchen table. Felt very homely. After a great first nights sleep we woke to the view which even on a rather dull February morning was beautiful.

The house has everything you need, comfy sofas and lovely real fire, lots of games and a well stocked kitchen so no need to bring any extra tools if you like to cook.

Lots of room inside and out and although very basic in design we loved it and would certainly come back and use it as a base to discover more of the area.

I guess if you wanted to be really picky I would say a double bed would not have gone a miss, and maybe a standup shower but if you are on a budget those things are easily won over by the amazing views, real fire and location.

If you are arriving at night be aware the drive is steep and hidden and you need to give the car a bit of welly to get the car up it but after a couple of days I got used to this.

The cottage was charming and set in a beautiful location.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was clean and comfortable. It had a beautiful garden and had views of the river. We found the owner to be extremely helpful and when we discovered the heater was broken, he organised for another to be delivered the very same day.

Fabulous stay

  • 5 of 5

A fantastic cottage set in idyllic surroundings. Very well equipped with everything you need and spotlessly clean. The views across to the yacht club are amazing. There are some narrow lanes to negotiate but you soon get used to them. We enjoyed watching the rabbits in the garden and a pheasant came calling one afternoon too. Would highly recommend for a relaxing stay. Many thanks.

A Relaxing Place to Enjoy

  • 5 of 5

An excellent base to enjoy this quite corner of Cornwall. The house is simple and unreconstructed rather than bijou but had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. If the house is fairly basic (as made clear by the owner) the garden and its views are magnificent; indeed it would be perfectly possible to have a great time without ever leaving the garden's confines - ask our dog! However there's much to see and do in the area. The delights of the Helford rRver are on the doorstep, Falmouth is but a short drive away, the Lizard Peninsula, Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan etc. etc. a little further afield - you'll get used to the narrow lanes, honestly. We had a very enjoyable stay and look forward to visiting again sometime.

Such a beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

Tree tops is the most beautiful place to stay, we have had such a great holiday there this summer. The best part is the completely private grounds, these are not overlooked at all by other houses and there is total Peace and quiet to relax...and sunbathe if youre lucky enough to get a sunny week (we did). The house itself offers clean and comfortable accommodation after busy days exploring south cornwall, this place really does have all you will ever need. Cant wait to return!
