This recently built luxury 2 bedroom 2-bathroom south-facing apartment sleeps 4 people and forms part of the superb restoration of Lyncourt, a beautiful Victorian Villa set in peaceful mature grounds in a magnificent position 400 feet above Meadfoot Beach. The apartment's view of Torbay is truly jaw-dropping with a large garden terrace and free access to the lawns and mature grounds. A roof terrace is accessed via a spiral staircase from a light-well (atrium) in the centre of the apartment. The living space is open to the garden terrace through two double patio doors and includes a luxury fully-fitted kitchen. The two double bedrooms at the rear of the apartment are a few steps up to a hallway from the living room. There are two bathrooms each with WC. One is ensuite to the master bedroom the other is opposite the second bedroom. Meadfoot Beach and all the beautiful coastal walks are directly accessible on foot from the apartment. Torquay Seafront is only 15 minutes walk away.

I am a Chartered Engineer in my mid-sixties now retired. I own a stunning Penthouse Apartment in Spain (S920) and a beautiful Garden Apartment in Torquay, Devon England (E3892). I love to stay at either of these places whenever possible. My UK and Spanish Homes share unique climates and great views in unique locations. I love to play golf, sail and walk so these activities are always high on my priorities. Both Torquay and Almerimar offer these and many other activities providing a perfect holiday location for all the family.

Lovely apartment, great location!

This is a lovely modern apartment (an extension to the older house), very nicely equipped, and in a great location! Beautiful views across the lawn to the sea from the lounge/diner, and a short 20 minute walk to the town centre. We stayed as family of four (Mum Dad and 2 teenage boys) so the welcoming gift of a bottle of wine and a Devon cream tea hit the mark with all of us - a very nice touch from the owner :)

I can't recommend it highly enough - we hope to visit again before too long!

Stunning accommodation/stunning location

Excellent accommodation,really first class with everything you might need. If possible this is surpassed by the location and stunning view over Torbay. Taking breakfast on the private garden terrace on a glorious morning with such a view was truely memorable.

Excellent

We, a family of mum, dad and two boys, stayed here for one week in early August 2014. The location is excellent and the property is superb, with stunning views and a beautiful terrace and garden. The quality of this accommodation only added to what was a fabulous week in a lovely part of the country. The other residents within this building were very warm and friendly, especially to our boys. Fabulous view over Torbay.

We spent 5 nights in the appartement and it fully fulfilled our expextations. It was a nice and quite place and only a short walk from centrum of town, ca 15 min. The appartement had a nice terrasse with beautiful flowers. The neighbors were nice. We can safely recommend this appartement.

This superb apartment is uniquely positioned high above Meadfoot Beach in a quiet mature part of Torquay surrounded by stone walls, lanes and magnificent Victorian Villas. The views are astounding and access to the beach and coastal walks a short walk from the apartment. The area is lovely and the mature grounds of Lyncourt allow you to enjoy the feeling of space and freedom in beautiful surroundings. Lyncourt is a Victorian Villa which has been beautifully restored. The garden apartments are newly built providing the best of modern accommodation and facilities in a mature setting. The bustling Torquay seafront and high street are 15 minutes walk away so you can choose the peace and tranquility or the excitement that Torquay has to offer.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

Meadfoot beach is a blue flag beach about 15 minutes walk directly down from the apartment. It has a charming and enthusiastic beach cafe where teas and snacks are served plus tapas and wine on weekend evenings. From here you can walk the coastal paths east towards Babbacombe and west to Torquay. Torquay seafront is just 20 minutes walk. Shaldon and Teignmouth are about 20 minutes by car as is Paignton.

Travel:

The two nearest international airports are easily reached by fast motorway connections. They are Exeter at 20 miles then Bristol 2 hours away at around 100 miles. The main railway station that serves Torquay is Newton Abbot about 20 minutes away by car while Torquay Station is 5 minutes by car; however, most trains that stop there are local. Plymouth is only 30 miles away offering travel via Brittany Ferries to northern Spain and France with luxuriously comfortable overnight crossings.

Further Details:

Torquay seafront and high street are about 15 minutes walking distance. The return walk is steadily uphill so is healthy but would be a bit challenging for those who are not used to exercise. There is a Co-op less than 10 minutes walk away. The Willows Shopping Centre with major stores including M&S, Next and Sainsbury's is a 10 minute drive away.

I love this apartment for its comfort, unique location and views. The whole of Torbay dominates the view from the living space, the terrace and gardens. There is always something happening to watch on the water. The modern kitchen space allows me to cook when I feel like it and the many restaurants in the immediate area allow you the freedom to eat out in many charming locations. These include Langtry's, a high class restaurant in the Osborne Hotel, while the Brasserie serves lunch and light snacks. There is also a very adventurous cafe on Meadfoot Beach offering excellent refreshments and Tapas with wine on weekend evenings. I have looked at many properties in and around Torquay and I can confidently say that I have never seen anything that comes near to possessing its magical charm.

Bedroom 2 has twin beds, and good sized wardrobe in light oak. Both bedrooms have large windows with white venetian blinds looking onto the atrium.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The apartment has an open, light and airy feel about it with full ventilation via the terrace and atrium doors. The living space is fully air-conditioned and this system also can provide limitless heating during the cooler parts of the year. The amazing view dominates the living space and the lower and upper terraces. The Bedrooms are cosy, quiet and comfortable. The bathrooms are bright, modern and spacious. The central light well (atrium) ensures that all the bedrooms and the rear of the living space are light and well ventilated as well as providing access, via an iron spiral staircase, to the top terrace which is directly above the living space. The lower terrace is well planted with small shrubs, roses and bedding plants. There is a great variety of roses and climbing shrubs including 3 varieties of jasmine. There is a Daphne which sweetly perfumes the whole area in January and February. Outside: Above the apartment is a large terrace reached by a door from the living space to the central light well (atrium). From here an iron spiral staircase takes you up to this area where there is a small table with 4 chairs and plenty of room for sunbeds. The lower terrace with patio table and chairs is accessed through the two double patio doors from the living space. This terrace leads directly onto the lawns and mature gardens with their uninterrupted views of Torbay. In the lower garden wall is a security gate giving access to the stone walled Victorian lane which leads down to Meadfoot Beach. From that point you can walk the coastal paths either to the east towards Thatchers rock, Babbacombe and Shaldon or the west towards Daddyhole Plain and Torquay town. There is private car park with one allocated space plus unlimited free safe parking on the quiet road just outside. Utility Room: The large utility cupboard contains the central heating boiler and the washer-dryer. There is also an ironing board with iron and a Dyson vacuum cleaner. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are provided and the property is cleaned before each stay. Extra cleaning can be arranged. Other: The hallway is 5 steps above the living room and connects the living room to the entrance door, the bedrooms and the main bathroom. A glass door at the top of the stairs separates the living space from the hall and bedrooms.
