Welcome to our lovely gite Kersidan - Breton for ‘Place of Peace’. The gite is a converted stone walled barn, approximately 300 years old. It has been sympathetically restored but retains many original features such as exposed stonework and beams and has everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. It is set in beautiful gardens with many specimen shrubs and trees and is part of a small hamlet with only four other houses, surrounded by rolling farm and woodland. The cottage has its own secluded garden and apart from the main house there are no immediate neighbours.

Kersidan is ideally situated for exploring Brittany and its many historic towns and villages. The spectacular Southern Brittany coast with its glorious beaches and quaint fishing ports is within a 45 minute drive.

Kersidan sleeps 2 comfortably in a kingsize bed and there is an additional double sofabed in the living area. A cot and high chair are also available. The gite is suitable for a young family with a baby or toddler but is not suitable for families with older children.

The gite has a shower room and WC upstairs and a bathroom and WC downstairs. It features a fully equipped kitchen with electric oven, gas hob, microwave and a table seating four. UK terrestrial satellite television and free Wi-Fi Broadband Internet access are available. * As we are situated in a very rural location our telephone and Internet connections can be interrupted at times by circumstances outside our control. Please be aware that we can not guarantee Internet connection at all times. Our Internet connection is also very slow due to our rural location.

Please note that our prices are fully inclusive; there are no extra charges for heating, electricity, linen, towels (not beach towels) and end of let cleaning. For rentals longer than 7 nights, a weekly linen change and clean is included.

If you require different arrival and departure days or a shorter stay (less than 7 nights), please contact us.

Upon confirmed booking you will receive a comprehensive information pack for Kersidan with details of the local area, places of interest and lots more!

We can also offer discounts on ferry crossings with Brittany Ferries - please ask when making a booking.

We are now able to accept online payment via debit or credit card through Owners Direct. We can also take payment via internet transfer or cheque. A non refundable deposit of 25% is required to secure the booking with final payment due 8 weeks prior to arrival.

About Mark and Alison Brooke-Read

Thank you for taking the time to look at our lovely gite in Brittany 'Kersidan'. We are extremely proud of the gite and our detached house which is situated alongside. Our previous guests have given us excellent feedback, not only on the gite itself but on the gardens, surrounding countryside and the area. We live and work in the UK and we acquired Kersidan in May 2010. It was a dream come true for us and we have never looked back. The problem we have is getting enough time to spend there. Whether it's summer or winter, we enjoy every visit we make. If you do travel out to our gite we're confident that you'll have a relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable time. Mark and Alison Brooke-Read

Why Mark and Alison Brooke-Read chose Le Faouet area

We wanted a country retreat and a bolt-hole from the hectic UK lifestyle. The surrounding area has everything we wanted - peace, local amenities and access to beaches. Since owning Kersidan we have made many good friends with our local nieghbours and the local farming community, they have made us very welcome.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We shall be returning to Kersidan at some point next year. You have a beautiful cosy place.

We had a lovely time. The Brittany coastline is beautiful. We had good weather most of the days, for late October, but it's cool back here in the UK.

Back to reality today, thanks for the warm welcome and a beautiful stay.

We will be recommending this Gite.

Very comfortable and cozy

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed a peaceful week. Explored the countryside and coastline. The cottage had all we wanted except we couldn't get French TV. Our lack of technical know how no doubt, and only a minor matter.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of Kersidan. As always these are very useful for us and our future guests. The lack of French and other European television channels is something we need to investigate. Thank you. Mark and Alison

quiet rural location

  • 5 of 5

Quiet rural location but only 15 minutes from the nearest town with a supermarket. The cottage was clean and well presented with everything you would need for a holiday stay, uk satellite tv is also available which is a bonus. The owners provide good information about the local area which we visited in September when the whole of Brittany was very quiet but the lack of traffic at that time of year was a plus point. We would definitely recommend this property for two people looking for a quiet break.

Beautiful , tranquil gite

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 22 July for a week. The gite was even better than we expected . The welcome pack was much appreciated after a 8 hr drive. We sat out every evening we saw hares and foxes, even a deer jumped from the hedges one day. The gite had everything you needed , it was spotless and had the most comfortable bed. The garden is secluded and a little sun trap . It is in a good location for some lovely places, Pontivy, queberon, quimper , vannes , Josslin etc and plenty of picturesque villages .

It isn't in walking distance of drinking or eating but that is what we liked, sitting out in the evening enjoying a bottle or 2 of wine any enjoying the peace. We would definitely go back there.

A little paradise in the middle of Bretagne

  • 5 of 5

We had the loveliest time in Kersidan. Our time there came in the middle of our European holiday, so it was a perfect place to recharge our batteries.

We loved the cottage. It had everything we could possibly need and was just so restful and quiet. And despite getting lost every time we went out (!!!) we found many wonderful walks in the surrounding area. We didn't cover a large area but hopefully we can come back some day to see more.

Many thanks Mark and Alison for making this part of our trip so pleasant.
