About claire palmer

Although originally from London I have now escaped and live in rural Wales with my partner Phill, The boss cat, Tigger and our dappy Westie 'Mrs Jones'. We spend most of our holidays in Dalyan but as I worked in travel for many years I still like to visit other places too, but Dalyan remains in top spot and we hope to live here permanently one day.

claire palmer purchased this villa in 1994

Why claire palmer chose Lycian & Turquoise Coast

Ive loved foreign travel all my life, and have worked in travel for the last 20 years, I stumbled across Dalyan through word of mouth and have loved it ever since. Ive been to many resorts in Turkey but none come close for the natural beauty and friendliness of Dalyan. Also because of building restrictions in Dalyan, it has grown since Ive been coming here but it has never gone crazy and still retains much of its quaint charm. When I visit Dalyan its like coming home.

What makes this villa unique

Villa Palmiye benefits from daily maid service and a local management lady (Dondu) who lives just 2 mins walk away, who will meet and greet and is always on hand for any help required.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We really enjoyed staying at the villa .It has a lovely setting and its great that good sized pool area gets the sun all day. There were also shady spots when we wanted ,garden was really well established and private and with villa being on the edge of the resort there was an amazing amount of bird life.Pleasant 10/15 minute walk into town . Local mini market about 5 mins walk .Dondu was great, the gardner and cleaner were also very friendly. We enjoyed our stay, plenty to do and see in Dalyan and look forward to visiting again soon.

John and Jane Ryan - June 2012

The villa was beautifully decorated and spacious for our family of four. It was well equipped and very comfortable. The pool was a particular hit. The location was perfect- quiet with breathtaking views but in easy reach of the town. Dondu who manages the villas was particularly friendly & helpful. We will be recommending Villa Palmiye to friends and family and will return ourselves.

Beautiful, traditional and relaxing villa

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our 7 year old daughter stayed here for a week at the start of October 16. The location is absolutely fantastic. So peaceful yet only a 10 min walk into town. Dalyan is such a chilled out place to have a holiday with so many beautiful things to see and do at your finger tips.

The villa was ideal for us. It has a very comfortable living room in the traditional Turkish style, comfortable beds, 3 toilets, kitchen, WiFi, upstairs sun terrace.

The gardens are mature and well kept with a hammock and barbecue. Nice pool to cool down during the day. What more could you ask for!!

Our only regret is we didn't book for longer, we moved to a villa in a hotel in Ovacik for the second week of our holiday and it was lifeless compared to this place.

We highly recommend this villa and the Dalyan area to anyone considering coming to Turkey. The local people are so friendly and accommodating, 20 minute drive from the airport. Loads to do and see. Beautiful lush countryside, beaches, river boat trips. Would recommend hiring a car, just gives you the freedom to explore. The roads are excellent on the whole.

Thanks Claire, we will definitely be back in the future !

Well equiped Villa in beautiful gardens

  • 5 of 5

Villa Palmiye is a lovely Villa in a nice quite part of Dalyan. The Villa has a large shared pool which we were lucky enough to have to ourselves throughout our stay which made it very difficult to haul ourselves off to the beach! The Villa itself is very well equipped and sits in a beautiful maintained garden. It was very good value for money and is heartily recommended!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your lovely review. I am so pleased you enjoyed your holiday at Villa Palmiye as much as we always do. One of the other two owners doesn't rent at all and the other rarely does so it is quite common to have the pool to yourself in high season. Please do not hesitate to contact myself next time you visit lovely Dalyan

Lovely villa in peaceful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely little villa in quite a rural area of Dalyan which is very tranquil, yet still just a sedate 15 minute stroll away from the town centre. The living room has traditional Turkish decor and is very comfortable and pleasantly cool during the heat of day thanks to an overhead fan. The kitchen is small, but has all the facilities needed to self cater if you want. The 2 bedrooms are of a decent size and they each have an en-suite, both have air conditioning and overhead fans. There is a small utility room by the pool with a shared washing machine, perfect for keeping the washing to a minimum for your return home.

The outdoor areas are the real bonus for this accommodation. There's a large, vine shaded balcony which can be accessed from both bedrooms, with two sunbeds as well as a small table and chairs. It's the perfect place to watch the neighbourhood wake up with a cuppa first thing in the morning. There is even a distant but lovely view of the tombs over the rooftops from one side of the balcony. Downstairs there's a terrace which is also nicely shaded during the majority of the day, the seating area is really comfortable and a lovely place to relax with breakfast or a drink. The garden is beautifully maintained and the planting is well established, there's also a hammock to laze around in.

We were very lucky to have the pool all to ourselves as apparently one of the villas is only visited by its owners in early and late season and the other is not being rented out at all this season.

Dondu, the manager and her family are lovely and live just a couple of hundred metres up the road, she is there if you need her but is happy to leave you to your own devices if that's what you prefer. Çilem empties the bins and makes up the bed daily and we had fresh towels and bedding each week. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely little villa and would definitely stay here again in the future.

Lovely Traditional Villa Quiet Peaceful Location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a lovely week at Villa Palmiye and can only echo the sentiments that previous reviewers have stated. Claire the owner was very helpful and all the arrangements were prompt, precise and trouble free.

We also arranged airport transfers via Claire which were hassle free as well.

Dondu (local manager) was lovely and extremely helpful but never intrusive. The villa was very clean and delightfully Turkish, a very relaxing place to be. Lovely and quiet, excellent balconies lower and upper to enjoy your breakfast, a cup of coffee, a good book and great views. We met the other villa owners whilst we were out there and they were all very welcoming and charming. The pool area is not huge and can get a little busy if everybody uses it at the same time but more often than not you will have to yourself.

I haven't mentioned Dalyan because I'm assuming the reader will probably know about it but suffice to say that it is as charming and delightful as Villa Palmiye. Dalyan centre is a lesiurely 10 to 15 minute stroll away where you will find restaurants, cafes, bars and shops to suit all tastes and very friendly locals.

As always the big question is would you go back....definitely! and hope to do so in the near future.

Owner's Response: Thankyou so much for your lovely review, I am so pleased you enjoyed our lovely traditional Turkish home as much as we always do. One thing that is worth mentioning is that of the 3 houses that share the large quadrant shaped pool we are the only one who regulary rents out and one house does not rent at all, and is therefore only occupied by the owners for their own holidays, so on the most part clients will get the pool to themselves or perhaps be sharing with one other house, but on the occassion of your trip a rarity of all 3 houses were occupied. I look forward to welcoming you back to Villa Palmiye in the future. Kind regards Claire

Great Villa with shared pool in peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

Dondu, the Manager, arranged for us to be picked up at airport when we first arrived - don't think possible to find otherwise. She was unobtrusive but very helpful throughout. It is on the outside of town so pretty peaceful with lovely views. We enjoyed the walk into town and back again - as went out to eat every night - just had breakfast at the villa. Many, many very friendly and reasonably priced restaurants in the town and great choice of food. Villa third one so further from pool than others but with more outside space. (Balconies not enclosed like the others.) Great pool to swim in and we mostly had it to ourselves. We hired a car and drove down to some beaches which weren't accessible any other way. Still, one of the best experiences was taking one of the local boats down to the Turtle Beach.

We were there out of season but still quite a buzzy place - our son who joined us for a week really liked it.

The villa was furnished in a traditional Turkish way - unlike some holiday lets which could be anywhere in the world. Would certainly recommend this to friends and, if the chance arose, would like to stay there again,

Owner's Response: Thankyou for your lovely review, I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay as much as we always do. The peaceful position of the villa is indeed a bonus, and you feel like your in the country despite only being a short walk into town. Dondu is indeed very helpful and has been managing the villa since before I bought it 11 years ago. It will be a pleasure to have you visit Villa Palmiye again in the future. Kind regards Claire

Wow! What a beautiful villa, beautiful grounds & beautiful place to stay!

We arrived, after a speedy transfer organised by Claire the villa owner to be met by Dondu, the villa Manager. I must say what a wonderful lady she is. She is such a kind and helpful lady - nothing was ever too much trouble.

The villa itself is perfect. It is the end one, furthest from the swimming pool, but believe me when I tell you that is only a couple of steps away! There is a lovely porch with table and benches undercover, that you can sit and cool off in. Small kitchen and downstairs lounge and then stairs to the 2 en-suite bedrooms, which both have doors leading out onto the balcony. The balcony has beautiful views of the mountains and surrounding area - so peaceful and picture perfect! We sat out on the balcony many a morning and evening and used to wave to the farmer and his wife whose villa is behind this one. It's not a big farm - a few goats, sheep, hens - the usual really!

The town of Dalyan is a short pleasant 10 minute stroll away. There are many restaurants to choose from, some of which are on the front where all the boats moor.

Must mention Dondu's husband Morat and the fabulous staff at his restaurant though - what a lovely set of people they are and as for the food - well, what can I say? Just perfect. They all helped make our holiday there, a very memorable one indeed.

Go to this villa. You really won't be disapointed. The villa, food, weather, scenery and most importantly, people are what holidays to remember, are all about...

Thank you Claire and please give my love to Dondu & Morat when you see them. Hope to see them all again soon :)
