About the property

Luxury 3 bed sea view villa on the highly acclaimed Dunas Beach Resort

This property is located end of row, forth row from the beachfront and is one of the more private villas. It’s other stand out feature is that it is on the largest, and most spacious of the three in a row Meliá Resorts ( Dunas Beach ). It is therefore not overlooked and gets...all-day-long sun ( as it’s got the all-important, often forgotten, South-facing moving to the beach is not necessary when wishing to work on achieving a sun tan ).

It faces towards the amazing Llana Resort 😎 and is in the best location private villas.

It comes fully equipped with air conditioning in many rooms. The mosquito blinds allow for windows to be opened allowing in a lovely sea breeze.

The first floor master bedroom has an ensuite his & twin bathroom with bath and shower. Wi-Fi is free throughout the Resort though it’s recommended to purchase a mobile mini router at a local phone provider shop to enable very strong signal 👍

The remaining two ( twin ) bedrooms are each located by other bathrooms. As can be seen in the photos, it's a very spacious airy villa, with comfortable beds. The ample kitchen has lots of amenities. Please let us know if you think other gadgets might be required and we will see what we can do to add to the list.

The upstairs bedroom terrace has sea views, perfect for a chilled out drink at one of the magical sunsets.

" Penny Lane " is in a very peaceful location just far enough from the many on Resort restaurants, bars, tennis court, swimming pools, piano bars, shops, etc.

And the beautiful sparkling tourquoise sea with endless soft white sandy beach is reminiscent of the Bahamas.

Such friendly local people make this detached private villa ( with personal cleaners on request) the perfect holiday " no stress " getaway with more or less 25c sunshine all year round.

Look at Tui/ Thomas Cook/ condor for flight bargains!

This holiday home accommodates up to six people, and is located with a South facing un-obstructed garden for all day sunshine. It is a new 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom spacious villa. For the utmost in relaxation, it's the place to stay.

A large communal swimming pool is seconds away, with sun loungers. Located by the very frontline 4 - bedroom villas.

Supermarket ( five minutes) and car hire nearby.

About A Thomson

Owners since 2011. Have experienced many magical holidays in Cape Verde, as have many guests. Their comments say it all!

Please bare in mind however, that we cannot control some of the negative comments which are on the whole untrue! 🙄 An example is that one particular guest expected brand new pillows and towels. Not even top hotels change pillows after guest stays.

A Thomson purchased this villa in 2011

Why A Thomson chose Sal

Year round Sun ( the villa is one of the few South facing villas ! 😎🌞 ) vibrant turquoise sea, golden white soft sandy beaches, brilliant sunsets, the array of restaurants, bars, spas, 'Latino-Portuguese-African' blend of music and culture.

Anyone for tennis? Melia Dunas Beach Resort also has tennis courts 🎾

The Local ( 95% Christian ) people, and fellow holidaymakers friendliness.

Close proximity to airport is an added bonus...just 15 mins away.

"No Stress" as the Cape Verde motto goes is so true!

What makes this villa unique

Average daily temperatures 26 Celsius every day of the year, soft golden sandy beaches, turquoise seas. No jet lag with flights from Europe, and no hurricanes either. As a little fact for the day...hurricanes are usually “ born “ in and around the islands...because of the tropical weather.

Hey, it’s only 150 metres to the beach aswell. Bonus !

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank-you for letting us stay at your gorgeous villa. We had a lovely week and the weather was fabulous. We would like to return again soon !

What a fantastic place!

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned form a week at this wonderful villa, location on the complex is perfect, the villa is very clean, comfortable and with great facilities

We opted to go for the all inclusive offer with the Melia resort which was also great

We are currently looking at flights for when we will return to Sal, and we will certainly be staying in this villa again!

Great villa, but….

  • 1 of 5

What a great location. Very quiet with a great plunge pool to cool off in the heat and close to the beach. The villa is very spacious with good powerful showers.

However, we had significant cleanliness issues with the bedding which took several days to resolve. During our stay, we also experienced numerous other issues, some of which the owner was already aware of prior to our stay, but these still had not been repaired after we vacated the villa. Hopefully the new fridge has been installed.

If all the issues were addressed and the property was maintained to a better standard then we would not hesitate to go back, but as it stands we will look for other properties on the same resort.

We have provided feedback directly to the owner, but have not yet had a reply.

Owner's Response: What can I say about this review other than I’m quite taken aback with the one star rating! The previous guests ( who stayed just the week before ) had a totally different attitude. The words I received from them were quote “ Thank you for letting us stay in your villa, we had a lovely week. We had no issues other than the a/c blew out warm air in the upstairs twin bedroom, which may need the gas cylinder changing “ The a/c part has been ordered and so this will be fitted very soon. As for the fridge, my maintenance people have now repaired the minor glitch ( the small door on the internal freezer box now closes but the fridge itself was always working 🤔? ) As for the pillows not being new, 4 of them are fine, and 4 new pillows were handed over to the guest quite promptly...even though they are all always fitted with clean fresh pillow cases ( and sheets ). In six years of letting the villa out to guests, none have before required thick duvets because the night temperatures rarely dip below 17 celcius. Fresh clean duvets are kept in the wardrobes just in case. It is not in the guest’s agreement to have new sheets/ towels/ pillows each and every time someone new arrives ( hotels do not do this either as far as I’m aware ). Many “issues” mentioned on a daily basis to me I did find quite bizarre, to say the least, in so far as to say they were non-existent... For example, stating that no lights worked in the living room and that a mosquito blind didn’t shut, soon translated to a switch not being pressed/ the blind had only to be gently slid across and held momentarily ( for the magnets to attach ). Once the maintenance team were called out to demonstrate that, all seemed to be getting better. But, alas, not for long unfortunately: however my maintenance team were once again quick to respond to the emergency call outs, and supplied a garlic press, hair dryer, more bowels, a new can opener and some more brand new knives ( oh, and a clothes dryer ). Just one other thing to add: I am seriously considering charging guests for laundry services beyond a certain point now. As I’d pointed out, water usage is expensive in Cape Verde. This guest has created a bill for me of some €80 in 10 days ( for two guests )...a feat thus far not before achieved by any previous guests! In future this guest will not be given the opportunity to spend an entire holiday nit picking this “great villa” it is regrettably no longer a viable option for her to stay there again.

Problems with hot water boiler

  • 3 of 5

There were big problems to get clean and hot water in the house.

Hopefully the problem will be fixed soon for other rentals.

Owner's Response: Eva, I'm so sorry that this had to happen to you when you arrived. After 6 years with no problem, the hot water boiler decided to pack up its job. These things unfortunately happen with most things in life 🙄 However, I got onto the case as soon as I could and am pleased to report that future guests now have hot water with extra pressure to boot! Fingers crossed, for at least 6 years 😀 Will offer you a discount on any future stay Eva. Hopefully, as with most guests, you enjoyed the rest of the villa facilities ...and the beauty of Cape Verde 😎🇨🇻 All the best, Andy

Wir würden gern nochmal kommen!

  • 5 of 5

Tolles Haus!

  • 1 of 5

Sal Island is very appealing for sun worshippers.

Most like to sit back and watch the world go by, with nothing to think about other than simply 'fun in the sun'. The whole Resort is now up and running with 7 restaurants, boutiques, eateries, souvenir shops, etc.

Many love the thrill of quad bikes, which can be hired. Alternatively, hire a bicycle, and take it easy exploring. Hire costs about €10 for half a day. Various excursions exist, too, including fishing trips, boat rides, submarine and Island hopping trips.

Wildlife enthusiasts may wish to visit in turtle season ( October ). A brand new ferry service now operates between islands.

The beach is less than a two minute walk away (approximately 150 metres ). The beautiful sandy beaches are reminiscent of those in the Bahamas.

Cape Verde is just south of the Canaries, with a Brazilian/Portuguese/African mix.

Free shuttle bus available from airport 10 minute drive away, or taxis cost €15.

In general Taxis are inexpensive and plentiful, averaging €3 per trip into Santa Maria town. Car hire most people tend not to choose as it is quite expensive.

Santa Maria town is 5 minutes away. Melia Dunas offers 7 excellent bars, including a piano bar, a late bar, spacious classy restaurants to cater all tastes, spas, massage areas, kids playing areas and more

...exclusively available to guests

The nearest mini market shop, 'Falmers' is a five minute walk away ( in Vila Verde Resort ).

Free Wifi available on the Dunas Resort ;)

Further Details:

A free shuttle bus will take guests from the airport in 15 minutes.

There are many shops which sell food and drinks. The nearest mini market is 5 mins walk away located in Vila Verde Resort, called ' Falmers', supplying basics like cereals, eggs, milk, bread, etc.

Tam Tams and Ocean Café bars are popular among many European nationalities, has excellent food, and are centre town, showing all the latest live Sky sports.

There are many more excellent bar restaurants. Melia Dunas offers Unlimited eat & drink packages. Weekly pass offers available too. ATM's plentiful.

Eating out varies from British, definitely some superb Italian to plentiful fish restaurants, serving fresh fish dishes. Brazilian steaks are excellent and well priced.

Sal's tourist nationalities are typically friendly locals, British, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Scandinavian and Spanish in alphabetical order!
