Guestbook comments from the owner

"An absolutely fabulous cottage with everything you could possibly need and so much more! Set in a spectacular location. A fabulous find. We've had a brilliant break. Walks, castles, bike ride, Clearwell caves, Puzzlewood and Tintern and a drink in the cosy Saracen's Head before getting the 'ferrie' home... perfect. The nature theatre at the back of the cottage each morning was an added treat - foxes, squirrels, pheasants, birds.. beautiful."

"A lovely cottage, warm, cosy and comfortable with everything we needed and more. Great walks from the door, we walked to the 'rock' the hard way both ways!! Excellent food at Old Ferrie Inn & Saracens Head good too. Wildlife amazing have lots of photos many from back door. A special place we hope to be back."

A fantastic, well equipped, warm cottage.

A fantastic cottage, with everything you need for a holiday.

The instructions for locating the cottage and key were brilliant (it was 10pm and dark when we arrived).

The cottage was very clean and all the extra things that the owner provides is brilliant. Loads to do in the area, the only time we used the car was to go shopping. will be back next year.

Booth - Excellently prepeared and equiped cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is very well set up for guests to have a home from home in a spectacular location; only clothes and personal items need to be taken as all other household items are catered for. The cottage was cleaned to an exemplary standard prior to arrival.

Lovely cottage in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is lovely and quaint yet had excellent facilities with household consumables like washing up liquid etc all being provided, there was even a box of chocolates to welcome us! The owner was exceptional helpful at providing help prior to our stay which added to the experience being smooth and relaxing. The property has outstanding views and the area is fantastic with loads to do without traveling any distance. There are four family friendly pubs within 2 miles that serve fantastic food. We would love to go again - best family holiday in UK yet!

Lovely cottage in a fabulous area. The cottage was well equipped and very clean. The surrounding gardens are beautiful, with lots of wildlife on the doorstep. We were visited every morning by a pheasant in the back courtyard, and enjoyed watching and listening to all the various birds, squirrels, foxes etc. Easy access to Symond's Yat East and with great walks starting at the front door. Would love to come back soon.

relaxing week in Symonds Yat

  • 3 of 5

Sue's cottage is ideally located to walk to all of the local pubs. The local pubs all welcome dogs and both The Wye Knot Inn and Saracens Head provide doggy treats for your four legged friends. We enjoyed the various routes you can walk from the cottage and did not need to move the car for days. The cottage is well equipped but the lack of fence to the rear garden was inconvenient as we always had to accompany our dog outside especially in the mornings when Mr Fox visited! There was no phone reception and the restricted internet did hinder some of the things we would normally access. We feel this should be made clear in the details. The walk to Symonds Yat East via Biblins bridge and the walk up to Yat rock are highly recommended and a trip across the river on the hand pulled Ferry is a must.

Owner's Response: Hello Angie. Thank you for taking the time to write a review of the cottage and it's location. All our guests are asked to complete a booking form, in which they confirm they have read and accept our Conditions of Hire. In these conditions, under the heading "Pets", the last line clearly states "Please note that currently the rear garden area is not enclosed, and there is a steep bank and woodland beyond." In this listing in the Property Description, under the heading "outside" it states: Please note there is a tall very steep bank at the end of the patio and then woodland beyond and this area is not fully enclosed. Because the cottage is situated in a gorge, yes, mobile signal will be patchy. It does seem to depend on your network provider, and this is why we have a payphone installed for guests convenience. If you could clarify in what way the internet was restricted for you, then I can look into the issue and see if it can be improved. Regards, Justine.
