Villa in Ostuni, Brindisi, Puglia, Italy - A Tranquil, Peaceful Location Perfect For Unwinding And Recharging The Batteries

The Trullo is to a very high luxury standard after having been been refurbished to the highest standard using all natural stone, carefully blending traditional and modern architecture whilst incorporating the original trullo and lamia to create a unique luxury property. You will only find Trullo construction is southern Italy they are unique to Apuglia.

The original building is thought to have been constructed over 400 years ago and has walls which are 1.4m thick. The property now consists of 4 trulli and three lamia all traditionally constructed in stone. Trulli are cone shaped dwellings with very thick walls the larger Trullo is 5.5metres high. The villa comprises of 5 bedrooms all with their own bathrooms lounge seating up to 10 with 42 inch TV and sky facilities and a kitchen areas with seating for up to 12 people. Entrance hall and a work desk in the inner hall, games room with 55 inch screen and round sound system including sky with free WIFI. The external is terraced with a pool and seating areas for breakfast, dinner and just chilling. Outside has,lighting, external speakers set with 3 pergola one for dining and the other two for sun lounging . There is also a outside barbecue with a preparation area.

About David Grier

We rebuilt this Trullo between 2006 and 2012. It was challenging and it was full of difficulties, original built for a young family they are now teenagers and seem to enjoy the property even more.

We now have a beautiful property with its own olive grove and this year produce excellent olive oil and in bulk. The trullo is a place for relaxation and to reflect on the quality of life.

Three years on from completion the effort's are being rewarded with a luxurious home in a natural environment. it is a home and if you wish to relax with modern facilities in a quality Trullo this property is for you.

Why David Grier chose Brindisi area

We purchased the property as the quality of food and red wine in the area was superb. I was amazed by the construction of the trullo's which is unique to Puglia.

We found the total experience of the area very relaxing. For me it is one of the best places to chill, whether it is the food , the surroundings or the quality of the light I do not know but a week in Puglia always recharges the energy levels.

There is a great mixture of things to do from the beaches nearby to the ancient architect. The property is with in easy travelling distance of Ostuni, Cisternio and Martina Franca. Both Alberobello and Lecce are about 45minutes away.

The biggest reason for loving the area is the climate and pace of life coming from the north it becomes incredible relaxing.

What makes this villa unique

The property is a full refurbished Trullo with 4 cones, lamies and has vaulted ceilings in other rooms.

The refurbishment is to a very high luxury standard with all modern requirements in the bathrooms and it comes with free wifi and bose music system and sound system for the games room.

It is constructed with local stone and the effect is that the building generates its own peacefulness and the location at the side of the woods enhances the general well being of the total location. The gardens are now mature and the effect is one of total relaxation and harmony.

The full benefits can only be appreciated by standing of the terraces. A benefit we now have is local cook coming in and cooking, not to be missed!

Notes on accommodation: The accommodation has been refurbished in stone using traditional building practices and finished to a very high international standard and quality is present in all areas of the property there are 4 trullio and one lamia. The furnishings and fittings also reflect the quality with design and style. The fittings are a combination of italian and english furnishings carefull sourced . The internal has used a number of designers products and it is all finished with peacful and tranquil colours.The trullo's height provide a sense of space and allow the property to remain cool. This has been carried on to the outside areas with tiling and lightening that allows a feeling of luxury through out. The pergola's outside have maintain the feeling of luxury and relaxation that is equal with the inside and the 600sm terrace allow space for everyone. Outside: The 600 sm terracing has been landscaped with 3 covered pergola's one for dinning and the other two for sunbathing.All of the terraces have manicured olive trees and planted with lavender and herbs that create their own delightful scents of the Mediterranean. The private swimming pool measures 13m x 5m and has the latest in filtration technology, this allows swiming against the current. The pool is designed from a depth of 1.2m with a surrounding ledge in the pool that allows all levels to feel comfortable. At its deepest the pool measures 2.2 metres, it is surrounded with non-slip stone. There are large areas for sunbathing and an external shower for pool users. The kitchen terrace has its own seating with a round table for early morning or late breakfasts. The dinning area which seats 10 is adjacent to the built in barbecue which includes an external preparation area. All of the terraced areas have subtle lighting and integrated sound system. Utility Room: Utility room is only available on request, washing machine and washing area. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are changed weekly and include pool towels, the property is also cleaned weekly. Additional linen and towel changes can be arranged but this is an additional cost. The property has the ability to assist in any special needs or trips. Other: There is a large inner hall with a working desk that is ideal for computer working. The games room has a 55 inch plasma screen, Sky, playStation and game consoles with a Bose round sound system. Free WIFI.

Wonderful time

The villa is beautiful, fully equipped with lots of space. The house is private and set overlooking a valley with the hills beyond.

You do need a car, scooter or bicycles. There are few cars on the road.

The surrounding towns are beautiful medieval spots with wonderful markets and restaurants.

My friends and I went sightseeing during the day - except for one when we spent the day on an olive farm, collecting the olives behind the olive tree shaker and taking them off to the oil press.

Most lunches were late and consisted of perfect breads, cheeses, meats and fruits foraged from the markets. Often several bottles of the local wines would have us nodding off late in the afternoon -

Which of course lead us to waking up hungry around nightfall and ready to set off to one of the many interesting restaurants nearby. The food was excellent everywhere - someplaces expensive - someplaces -cheap - but I don't recall anyone not being happy with their meals.

The area around Ostuni is beautiful. Besides the unusual architecture of the region, you are also close to Pompeii.

I hope to return next year.

Villa Gabriella

Villa Gabriella is the most stunning property. Beautifully designed and decorated in keeping with the trullo style of its location with modern touches. Every bedroom and bathroom is gorgeous. The kitchen has everything you could wish for and fabulous crockery.

Outside is just lovely with tons of different spots to relax and drink expressos or sip cocktails. Our children had a blast in the pool and exploring the gardens. I can't wait to go back, it really is the best villa we have ever stayed in.

It is amazing to sit outside the villa snuggled amongst all the cushions on a beautifully starry Italian evening and it was always breath taking coming back to the villa in the evenings after dinner.

There is nothing to fault. We were so happy there.

Special interest holidays:

The property produces its own olive oil which is used by you on your visit.For those with a interest in wild flowers between Apriil and May there are up to 100 different specimens within the Olive Grove.

Coast/Beach:

Both coasts are within a easy drive west cost 10 min, Costa Merlata 10km. Santa Lucia/ Torre Pozzella 12km. Torre Pozzella consists of a succession of small coves, protected by rocks. It is a wild and unspoiled area of breathtaking beauty. Monticelli / Camerini 9km. You can find a peaceful fantastic sandy beach. Pilone 9km. A stretch of sandy coast with high dunes covered with juniper trees. This is a regional nature reserve. Lido Morelli 9km. Long sandy beach.

Travel:

The nearest Airport is Brindisi which is 30 mins and Bari is 60 min to the north. The train stops at Ostuni which is 15 minutes from the property, this allows people to fly to Rome and get a direct train to Ostuni, or to Bari and get a taxi to the Villa. Car hire is recommended and is easily available at the airport or from the station. The advantage of a car is that all of the local towns are a short drive.

Distances:

Ostuni: You can reach the town of Ostuni, which is well known as Città Bianca for the whiteness of its houses. The old town goes back to the 13th century and in amongst the architecture and churches. 10m. Cisternino 15m. The pretty old medieval town is well worth a visit.

Martina franca This beautiful baroque city sits high above the Valle d’Itria and is the most elegant town in central Puglia.

Lecce. This is the major Baroque master piece of southern Italy. A must for everyone to visit.

Further Details:

Ostuni is the closest towns and has adequate supermarkets as well local merchants. There are also adequate cash points and banks. You can reach the town of Ostuni, which is well known as Città Bianca for the whiteness of its houses. The old town goes back to the 13th century and in amongst the architecture and churches are some fantastic restaurants and interesting bars.There are numerous shops in the narrow streets selling typical products of the region including pottery and ceramics. There are numerous festivals throughout the months of July and August.

Cisternino.

The pretty old medieval town is well worth a visit and is the place to be seen on summer evenings when you may purchase meat from the local butchers and have it cooked for you at one of the little trattorie in the old town.

Martina franca: This beautiful baroque city sits high above the Valle d’Itria and is the most elegant town in central Puglia. You need to head for the old centre, easily found through a magnificent arch leading from the main square and where you will find plenty to interest you. Locotronda. It’s easy to see how it got its name. The tiny streets wind their way around the hill, with little alleys here and there darting in and out seeming to imitate a maze. You cannot fail to be intrigued by the quite unique architecture, houses with pointed sloping roofs high enough to enclose vaulted ceilings. We think the centro storico it is one of the prettiest in the area and it is also one where you can find several good restaurants.

Lecce: This is the major Baroque master piece of southern Italy. A must for everyone to visit, either during the day or in the evening. Lecce has great places of interest in Centro Storico with endless architecture, art galleries, shopping and entertainment in the evenings with excellent restaurants. All guests will be met outside Ostuni and taken to the Villa. There will be a starter pack of food and drinks to allow the guest to relax and go shopping the following day. The Villa manager will run through the entire house all of the equipment to minimise and provide local knowledge. They will also answer any questions. There is a security deposit of 1500€ property has to be returned with all rubbish placed in dust bins and left in a general good order
