This air conditioned villa has many traditional features and is set in a large garden with private pool on the edge of the Roche Estate. It is in a quiet road away from the main traffic areas and enjoys a peaceful location next to the forest. It is just 5 minutes from the beach and a short 15 minute drive from the lively towns of Conil and Chiclana de la Frontera. There are two terraces for alfresco eating, one covered and there is a barbecue on the open Northern terrace, An attractive 8x7 metre pool (installed in 2011) is in the back garden, with its own sun terrace and outside shower. We are Brian and Elizabeth Wolfe. We designed and had our villa built here in Roche back in 1989 after looking at numerous countries and areas for somewhere we really liked. We are now both retired and live near Guildford in Surrey with our two cats. We play golf and have found the courses near our villa to be really enjoyable, if somewhat challenging at times. I love reading which is why you'll find so many holiday reading books in the lounge. Feel free to borrow these - if you want to take one away, please leave another in its place.
Elizabeth Wolfe purchased this villa in 1989
Dear Elizabeth & Brian
Just wanted to email you to say thank you so much for letting us stay at your villa, we had a wonderful time, it was just what the doctor ordered! The directions you gave were excellent, we drove straight to it and didn’t get lost!
The weather was fabulous and the villa was just perfect it was very quiet, the pool was a bit chilly so we only braved it a few times! Paddled mostly!!
We spent a couple of afternoons on the beach which was amazing as there were very few people around which I loved! As you said it is end of season so we did have to search for eating places, but we found our way around and managed to try the restaurants you recommend (very nice) & we did eat out most evenings.
Our very Best wishes
Lorraine, Paul, Lisa & Nick
Our stay went beyond our best expectation. The villa has everything you need and more. The wi-fi works perfectly. It is ideal for a family with up to 4 children or for two couples. Whatever the party, it sleeps and hosts 6 in full comfort. A delightful swimming pool. Very nice garden, which gets plenty of hours of sun and light. You really understand why they call it Costa de la Luz. The villa is located in the residential area of Roche. It is a very nice, quiet and relaxed enviroment which ends on a very nice sandy beach (if you consider it ends up in the Atlantic Ocean). Within Roche, which is not small, the villa is about 10 minute walk to the beach and definitely in the best part of the area. Roche has a small market in it (and a much larger one within a 10 minute drive) and one can practise various sports. Renting a car is recommended to tour the area.
We can't see anything that was missing!! Claudia was great! Then the house: all you wish was there😊. All what was annouced by site was there and very clean. Wine, orangejuice, water by arrival and also everything you in kitchen too. It's a very quite place, very near to the beach with a beautiful garden and swimmingpool. TOP
Spacious, well equipped and thoughtfully laid out villa, beautifully kept and spotless. Large garden, with plenty of shade, BBQ area and delightful pool. Idyllic location, within walking distance of unspoiled long sandy beach, ideal for families.good resteraunts within easy reach. If you want to cater for yourself there is an excellent place nearby to get fresh fish and vegetables, Tuna is a speciality of this area. The owners go out of their way to help, also a good comprehensive guide to the villa and local amenities provided. I have brought my family here twice and we will definitely return. A beautiful uncommercial part of Spain - a million miles away from the busy beaches of the Costa del Sol.
For almost 15 years I have been escaping the Irish "summer" regularly to find guaranteed sun and beaches suitable for bikinis rather than wetsuits in the South of Europe. Returning not only to the same place but the same house this summer was a first, however. But why keep looking if you have found the perfect place! Elizabeth and Brian's house is exactly as you see on the website pictures: spacious, clean, nicely furnished with a wonderful garden with lots of shade. If anything, house, garden and pool are bigger than what they seem on the pictures. What we really appreciated was the fantastically equipped kitchen, not only in terms of appliances but also in terms of kitchen wear, pots, pans, cutlery - several grades above your average holiday-home standard. Also, everything from dishwasher detergent to candles, from basic spices to sugar was available - great start if you plan to do lots of cooking yourself. Which is a good option in Roche, as supermarkets, fish shops and green grocers are nearby - easy to reach by car, but also by bicycle, if all you need is the fish and the vegetables for dinner. Very nice outdoor barbecue also availablee; much appreciated: the stable and fast wifi connection in the house. How things work, tips about what to do and where to eat are all available in a big, up-to-date folder. And Elizabeth and Brian are great for providing information by e-mail before you arrive - including excellent directions for driving from Jerez airport to the villa. Booking and payments are absolutely hassle free and reliable. And the beach, a five minute walk away, is simply spectacular. Make sure to go at different times during the day as the atmosphere is completely different during the quiet, misty mornings, the busy afternoons and the romantic sunset.
I came to the villa with my family, including my one year old daughter. The location is absolutely fantastic, with easy access to a stunning beach and very good restaurants.
The villa has everything you could need and more, with an excellent kitchen, very comfortable and well equipped living room and comfortable bed. There was also a proximity wristband to make sure my daughter didn't get too close to the pool which was a wonderful thing to have. There was also a cot and everything we need for the baby.
The pool was very nice, and was super-refreshing in the August heat and the BBQ was fantastic for days we stayed in.
It is so nice at the villa that it's tempting to just stay there all day, but it is worth visiting local towns too, and there are lovely places a short drive away. There are also good supermarkets a short drive away.
I really recommend, especially for families. It is a wonderful location untouched by foreigner-friendly bars and Blackpool-esque horridness! The microclimate of the Cadiz region also means it's much cooler than other parts of Spain and there's always a nice breeze. It was very pleasant even in August.
We love this part of Spain, Roche in particular, as it's very Spanish. This was our fourth visit but the first time in this villa and it will definitely be our preferred choice in the future. Elizabeth was more than flexible with our dates and times of arrival and departure, which made our holiday the more relaxing. The villa is very clean, the kitchen has everything you could need & more & the garden/pool area is huge and excellent. We spent more than just a few days relaxing here as the villa is perfectly located for a quiet holiday. Barrossa beach is fantastic, lovely sand, lots of space (except weekends when the locals descend!!) and good surf for body boarding. Cadiz & Tarifa are definitely worth a visit and are easy to drive to. Local restaurants cater for everyone's taste but the villa has a BBQ for those nights you just don't want to go out. We love Roche and the square in the evening is a good place to visit for a drink or something to eat too.
Coast/Beach:
The Costa de la Luz has the longest, cleanest and quietest beaches in Southern Spain. 5 minutes walk takes you to Roche's unspoiled sandy beach. In summer (July to September) there are beach bars, showers, lifeguard stations and toilet facilities provided. Weekends are relatively busy (in August) but there is always plenty of space to walk, swim in the sea or relax on the sand. Between Roche and Conil there are small coves to swim from (Calas de Conil) accessed via steps down the cliff faces.
Travel:
Driving time from airports are around 40 minutes to Jerez de la Frontera, 1.5 hours to Seville via motorways, 1.5 hours to Gibraltar and 2.5 hours to Malaga via motorways. Motorways to Seville and Malaga are toll roads (Peaje).
Car hire is essential.
Distances:
Roche is situated halfway between Conil and Chiclana de la Frontera, both of which can be reached within 15 minutes drive. Cadiz and Media Sidonia are around 30 minutes away. Vejer, well worth a visit, is around 20 minutes drive.
Further Details:
The historic cities of Seville, Jerez (Sherry bodega tours, the famous riding school and the home of Flamenco) and Cadiz (the oldest city in Europe) are within easy reach. Travel to Cadiz by boat from Puerta Santa Maria, a fun way into the city without the hassle of parking. Magical hilltowns are perched high above groves of cork oaks, olives and vinyards. A drive through these to Ubrique (fantastic local leather goods) via Alcala (National park) takes you through beautiful scenery and provides a tase of the real, unspoiled, Spain. There are many local restaurants providing good, local, food. El Timon, in Roche, on the cliff top with beautiful sea views. Manguita in La Barossa, offering fresh fish, prawns, crab, lobster etc, in true Spanish style. La Patria in the hills near Vejer with excellent food and views, El Cachito in Novo Sancti Petri has good Spanish food and the Golf club house itself offers very good value and tasty lunches. For self catering there are two good supermarkets in 10 minutes drive in El Colorado and next to Novo Sancti Petri. A fruiteria on the main road into Roche, five minutes drive, provides all basic requirements with fresh fruit, vegetables and bread. Supermarket in Chiclana,& Conil covers every need and is only 15 minutes away. Roche and El Colarado also have mini-markets, newsagent and pharmacy etc are within 10 minutes walk or 5 min drive of the villa.
