Bright and sunny south facing 1 bedroom apartment in old building with exposed beams. Open plan kitchen/living area. 1 double bedroom with double bed and single sofa bed. sofa in living room suitable for one person to sleep on. Simply decorated with white walls, modern kitchen and bathroom. Wi/Fi. There is no terrace, however you can still lie in the sun with the windows open. 5 minutes walk to shops, restaurants and beach.

We live in Brighton and have 3 grown up children. We all love and spend as much time as we can in Antibes, taking advantage of booking ahead and getting cheap flights to Nice. All our children have lived in our apartment and worked on the boats.

Gorgeous Home from Home

We stayed at this lovely apartment in the equally lovely Antibes over Easter and had a wonderful, wonderful time. Flying from Heathrow was easy. Our flight to Nice was well under 2 hours; and we were through and out of the airport 20 minutes later. Just 20 minutes after that we arrived at the apartment. My kind of journey.

The apartment is a lovely size, extremely clean and very airy. There was ample room for our 6 year old to play with his toy cars and Lego etc and there was a chest full of board and card games which was a lovely surprise.

The kitchen area is a good size, easily big enough to stay in and cook a good meal. The bedroom had a double bed one end and a double sofa bed at the other. Both were extremely comfortable.

What we loved was that we could spend all morning, right up to mid-afternoon out at the beach or walking around the many nooks and crannies of Antibes, and when we got back to the apartment we could open the many windows and the sunlight (we were soooo lucky with the weather, it was gorgeous) would just shine through. So we could even get a tan reading in the apartment! Genius!

The beaches were lovely and we could boat and yacht watch until the cows came home. Are they even still called yachts when they are THAT BIG? Seriously?? It's nice to dream anyway.

Should you decide to eat out there are loads of restaurants, bars and cafés. We found the food at Cafe des Chineurs, a local Brasserie, to be extremely good and very well priced. But you can walk the Lanes of Antibes for hours looking for little restaurants, shops and cafés.

It truly was a delight. We can't wait to go back to Antibes and next time would like to do some day trips up the coast to Monte Carlo and Cannes.

We would stay at this apartment again in a heartbeat as we loved it. We really did.

Excellent apartment

What a find! A stylish, welcoming and well-equipped apartment in a good location near the labyrinthine streets of the old town, the Picasso Museum and the lovely harbour. We had a great time, the owner was very helpful and it was a fabulous base to see the amazing art of the Cote d'Azur. Highly recommended!

Beautiful and Idyllic stay - recommended!

A fantastically relaxed stay at this very lovely, brilliantly fit-for-purpose apartment. Having just read the negative review I cannot not state enough that we could not have had a more opposite experience than the negative one stated. We found the apartment to be very clean and certainly did not experience any smell. (If however there was any smell in the outer area(s), it certainly wasn’t anything to do with this apartment - perhaps just the barely noticeable smells of an old building in the middle of the built-up Old Town, in the middle of summer?) Arriving late on our first night we were thankful for the tea, coffee, milk etc that had been left, and relieved/grateful that toiletries and other such items (that we would expect in an apartment such as this) were around too, looking after us until we could get to the shops. As a family of four, the apartment size/layout made for a very comfortable stay. Everything is within a couple of minutes walk-a beautifully enclosed marina style beach, a fantastic range of traditional and more modern food shops/markets, as well as restaurants and late night bars - for every budget, trend and taste. The well-equipped apartment meant it was easy to cook the exquisite local produce ‘at home’ too. The four of us playing games around the table late at night, with the window shutters opening onto the street could not have been more idyllic–gentle live music played most nights nearby, but never too loud or too late–just perfect! The children have asked us many times, already, if we can come back again next year–but we hope to be able to return sooner, on our own! Thanks for beautiful memories in your equally beautiful apartment.

Disappointing

The apartment was not very clean. There is an overpowering smell of cat urine in the building, so bad that it wakes you up in the morning. There is no closet for your clothes.

The bathroom cabinets and drawers are full of partially used toiletries including a hairbrush, nail clippers and contact lenses.

The kitchen cabinets has half used food left over from the previous guests.

I emailed the owner to complain and she did not think anything was wrong and that people liked to use left over food and toiletries.

The final insult was that I was charged a cleaning fee on departure when the apartment was not clean when I checked in.

Avoid this place.

Owner's Response: This guest emailed me the day after arrival with his complaint. My response to the guest was to email an apology straight away and contact my property manager, who went over as soon as I contacted her to check on the cleaning and remove anything the guest did not want in the apartment. I explained to the guest that we usually leave the food cupboards stocked with the basics so that people don't have to start from scratch with the shopping. Most people seem to like this arrangement. Same with the toiletries, but they were removed as soon as his complaint was received. There is no wardrobe, but there is a chest of drawers and there are hooks and hangers. I did not get any response to my email of apology, and my property manager got the impression that the guests were happy after she had been in to address their complaint. In 4 years of renting our apartment, we have only ever had good feedback.

Location

From the Owner

We have always loved Antibes and the South of France. There is so much to do and see, from art galleries and museums to exploring the rest of the coast and countryside. Or, if you prefer, you can spend your days on the beach, sunbathing and swimming. Antibes is always lively with lots going on; even in the winter months when a lot of coastal resorts close up, Antibes is still buzzing. The weather can be good all year round - we have spent many weekends in January and February sitting on the beach in a t-shirt. Access is so easy - we can leave our house in England early in the morning and be in Antibes in time for a late morning coffee.

Nearest Airport : Nice at 15 Kilometres

Coast/Beach:

5 minutes walk to nearest public beaches (sandy and pebbly).

Travel:

25 minutes drive from Nice airport. Good bus or train links direct from airport to Antibes, then 10 minutes walk to the apartment. A car is not necessary as public transport is good and all amenities are within walking distance.

Distances:

Nice 20 minutes by train.

Cannes 5 minutes by train.

Monaco 40 minutes by train.

Further Details:

Numerous restaurants and shops of every description. Daily food market (except Mondays). Supermarkets. Picasso museum. Antiques market (saturdays). Clothes and household goods market (Thursdays). All within 5 minutes walk of apartment.

We love to be able to pop out to the markets to buy fresh produce to cook at home, or walk around the corner to the numerous restaurants and cafes and soak up the atmosphere.
