About The Owner

Terry is an architect and Christine works with children from deprived backgrounds. We live in one of the neighbouring villages.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2007

Why The Owner chose Warwickshire

We live in the next village and have always loved Farnborough with its National Trust hall and lovely walks down by the lake.

The village is pretty and very friendly and it has a great gastro-pub, the Country Kitchen at Farnborough. Wonderful teas are also held regularly in the Village Hall run by the villagers when Farnborough hall is open. The cakes are not to be missed - we went there rather too often when renovating the cottage!

What makes this cottage unique

Our guests love the original Victorian range in the sitting room and the roll-top bath in the bathroom. We like being able to watch the cows come home from the kitchen sink and just sitting out at the front of the house watching village life pass by.

Our younger guests like the village playground and seeing the local donkey being taken for walks!

Farnborough has excellent road connections and you can visit a myriad of places of interest in under an hour's drive.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Fantastic find, amazing quality!

  • 5 of 5

Booked as a base for a 3 day stay for dad's birthday trip to Silverstone. Only 30 minutes from Silverstone so it was perfect. The cottage could not have been any better. Lovely location, great quality furnishings and across the road from a great pub and restaurant.

The village is a perfect base for visiting some lovely parts of the area. Good shopping at Banbury Gateway shopping centre. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with lovely crockery and cutlery. Very easy to cook in.

Would definitely recommend. Thanks again Christine for the recommendation of The Falcon at Warmington. Great food, service and ambience.

Lovely well looked after property, excellent location

  • 5 of 5

Very well looked after property by its thoughtful owners. The village is very well located with easy access to the motorways yet quiet and picturesque. The pub is a stone's throw from the cottage with good food, ales and service.

Charming Cottage in a quaint village

  • 4 of 5

Lavender cottage is a charming and well equipped holiday home. The wine and lemon slices awaiting our arrival were a welcome touch. There are plenty of places to visit within reasonable reach of the cottage including Stratford , Oxford and the beautiful Cotswold villages of Burton on the Water and Broadway .

An excellent 'Home away from Home'

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at this well appointed Cottage with good space and Facilities. We have lived in Vancouver for 50 years and enjoyed the opportunity to entertain our Cousins. We were there on a Saturday so appreciated the Tea and Cakes at the Village hall, and a Gluten Free one for me. !! Enjoyed walking the Tow Path and a Meal at the Wharf inn at Fenny Compton and got blown away up Beacon Tower on Burton Dassett Hills

Lavender Cottage

  • 4 of 5

Rather a lot to recommend at Lavender Cottage, which is a traditional cottage in a village. Close by is a Gastro Pub. Twice weekly shopping van visits this village.

A wealth of historical places to visit nearby, such as Upton House.

Cottage itself has comfortable beds, a real fire and the kitchen is well equipped for real cooking, plus a small garden with washing line.

The owners are very accommodating and friendly.

I would return here and will recommend it to my friends; The icing on the cake was the sighting of a heron on the local pond.
