Notes on accommodation: An enchanting former granary more than 150 years old. Thick stone walls keep the house cool in summer and warm in winter. The rooms are large and airy, the upstairs double bedroom has a high ceiling but is accessed by a stone staircase with low headroom at entrance, so not suitable for people with mobility problems. Large and private grounds with huge olive trees and an almond grove, with plenty of fig trees producing delicious fruit in the summer. Giant cacti and prickly pear bushes, walnut and almond trees. The house has a large terrace at the front which is gated so suitable for young children. There is a large pool 16x5m in the orchard, and gates to the pool can be closed if there are young children. The outside dining area is shaded by established grapevines, perfect for eating in August. There is an outdoor table tennis table and five sun loungers by the pool. Large Weber barbecue also provided. Utility Room: Large utility room with shelving and storage for food and utensils. There is an airer for drying clothes. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen/sheets are provided as well as towels for bathrooms. Beach/pool towels not provided. The property is cleaned weekly. A Beautiful and Relaxing retreat.

  • 5 of 5

Bel Cortile is a beautiful traditional home set in it's own private Olive grove. Following an easy drive from the airport the house is found up a private driveway away from the road. You enter a shady court yard with a table under vines which is where we had most of our meals.

The house is nicely arranged with two sleeping areas separated by the kitchen and living room which is perfect for being there with two families or away from your teenagers. We went with my two boys who put their iPads down and spent the entire holiday swimming and diving into the extensive pool. If you want a little privacy there are stairs up to a pleasant flat roof above the house. In the evenings we played table tennis in the courtyard and board games around the outside table.

Its a very easy place to stay, there is a good supermarket nearby and a small shop even closer for bread and milk etc. The beach is just 20 mins drive and some really gorgeous Italian towns are also a short journey, close enough for evening aperitifs before coming home to eat.

We enjoyed our time so much we have already arranged to return.

Perfect for family and friends to relax

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at Bel Cortile with our teenage daughters and it was a big hit for all of us. The house is well designed so two families can stay very comfortably and we enjoyed sharing the house with friends for part of the holiday; there was more than enough space for 4 adults and 4 teenagers. Our teenage girls loved the huge pool set in the olive groves and had fun playing table tennis with their friends in the shady courtyard. We all enjoyed long, leisurely lunches under the vines. This is certainly a place to relax. The old farmhouse style building is full of character and has been stylishly furnished.

Bel cortile is a short drive from the beautiful town of Ostuni where there are plenty of places to eat and drink well. There are lovely beaches about 20 minutes away, although it was always difficult to drag ourselves away from the house and pool! We would certainly like to return.

So relaxing but close to the towns

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely week relaxing at the house. The children aged 9,14,16, spent hours in the pool and playing table tennis (which is in the shade). I even managed to read an entire book! The house is set amongst orchards and is very private. I love the fact that the house still retains so many traditional features and has been decorated stylishly with some quirky little details. Just down the road is a very handy shop attached to the petrol station. They sell fresh food every day including homemade lasagne and fresh bread. The best bit about the house is that you are so close to the towns. Ostuni is a very short drive and so is Ceglie and Cisternino. We have stayed at a few villas in Puglia and this is by far the best located. The sea is only 20 minutes away and we found a couple of very cool places for the teenagers to hang out by the beach! The kids were so pleased the house had wifi too! Thank you for a great trip!

Beautiful Bel Cortile, Ostuni

  • 5 of 5

This was definitely one of our favourite holidays! The Bel Cortile farm house is spacious and cosy with its original features giving us a glimpse of the traditional Puglian home. It is very well equipped and functional (and the kids were delighted with the wi-fi). We enjoyed meals under the canopy of grapevines in the forecourt, tasting the delicious local produce in the surrounds of olive and almond groves with views of the fascinating Trullis. Our teen children chilled happily by the good-sized swimming pool and we treated ourselves to twilight swims in the night-lit pool. The historic hillside towns of Ostuni and Cisternino are stunning and the sandy beaches of Torre Guaceto are fun and worthwhile visiting. We look forward to returning to Bel Cortile to continue our exploration of the beautiful South, what a fabulous and enjoyable experience, thank you!

Our holiday in Puglia

  • 5 of 5

We had the most fantastic weeks holiday in Bel Cortile- it was wonderful! It's a lovely old house, full of character, surrounded by olive trees and set in the pretty Puglian countryside. We had an amazing pool which is always great fun and big enough to exercise in! And we spent many happy hours around the table in the courtyard-so no real reason to leave the property except that there is more! The beach at Bosco Verde was our favourite with it's funky beach bar and there are 3 or 4 little towns, all within a short drive away- we managed to find a huge antiques market that rambled through the streets of Martin Franca which was a real treat if a little expensive! Altogether it was really the best holiday we've had in ages- Thank you!
