About the Owner

The house is very old, but it has been refurbished in 2009.

I grew up here and so all the family from my mum's side. I teach english in the local school and in the summer I also organise workshops for children, to help them feel back the good of being around nature...keep them away from computers for a while! I love walking, swimming, hiking and eating! Animals are my best friends, I have three dogs and few cats, all very very friendly! And of course...the donkeys, three goats, three gold fish, two ducks and rabbits. The house is visited by deers, owls, hedgehogs, budgers, foxes, and many species of birds. Bees and bumble bees, crickets and butterflies. Unfortunatly...some mosquitos, spiders and some hornets likes to visit too... Anyway, everyone is welcome here, as they are all useful somehow! My parents lives nearby, and they are very friendly. My dad loves to welcome guests with his homemade wine and fresh veggies and fruits. My mother likes to give a taste of her jams. We make very tasty farinata (chickpea pizza). And I like to be around when it is needed!

We have all loved staying in your beautiful house and enjoying this beautiful part of Italy... Sarah, Alex, Harvey and Iris from Edinburgh.

Can't thank you enough for making our stay here an absolute delight. The place is splendid and the surroundings wonderful...Nick and Suzanne (London/France).

We needed a quiet sanctuary and that is what we got. You have been the perfect host. You have shown us corners of Italy that we could never have found and experienced..... Debby and Guy (Surrey, England).

Lovely rustic but comfortable and homely cottage

  • 5 of 5

The house is very well equipped and in the most beautiful and peaceful setting. If you want any sort of night life or local amenities this is not for you. But as haven of peace it is perfect. There is a pizza place a couple of miles away but we never used it. We only ate out twice as we were more than happy to cook at home and eat sitting on the terrace watching the sun go down over the hills.

The local town is great and only 20 minutes away with shops, restaurants and bars and regular markets. We also took the train from there for a day trip to Turin.

Geraldina speaks very good English having worked in London for many years. Her parents live next door don't speak any but some how that isn't an issue. We managed to get by. They are the most welcoming of hosts and we have fond memories of eating with them, exploring their property, drinking their wine and walking their donkeys.

All in all we loved our stay with Geraldina and often talk about it. We will definitely return.

Superb

  • 5 of 5

We spent 12 wonderful days in Grognardo. Geraldina and her family did everything possible to make us feel at home. We were welcomed with a basket full of vegetables from the family garden and with housemade wine (thanks Franco), and whenever needed they were always at our disposal to give us tips or advice.

We really enjoyed every minute of our stay in Galletto: the peace and quietness, the friendliness (try the Pro Loco in Ciglione in the weekend), the food, the walks, the beauty (from dusk till dawn astounding views and skies from the terrace) while the history is all around you. The cottage itself is neat and very well equipped. You can do the groceries in Ciglione (on foot) or Ponzone. In fact, the spot is so marvellous that one should never have to leave it. And when we did (e.g. to visit Genova by train from Visone, or to go to Acqui Terme), we were always glad we could return to our 'casa' in Galletto.

Very Warm Welcome In The Hills

  • 5 of 5

This proved to be a truly memorable week for us, one that will stay with us for some time (hopefully until we can return). The property is accurately described, clean, had all the necessaries, and is charming inside as well as out (the sunsets, changing views of the mountains, and then the stars are wonderful). But what the descriptions cannot get across is the warmth of the hospitality shown by the owner and her family. They were never intrusive, but we had a great time with them going to the boar festival in a nearby village and having a stab at making the pizzas, as well as eating the fresh vegetables they sometimes would leave for us.

We hadn't been to Piedmont before and were entranced, especially by the hills and towns/villages a little to the west in the Barolo area (which of course has other attractions). We really needed more than a week to do more than scratch the surface. The spas in Acqui Terme were also enjoyable (and if you like shopping Serravalle is for you). We didn't sample many of the local restaurants (just a couple of lunches), preferring to enjoy the terrace at night.

I'd heartily recommend the place as an ideal location for the surroundings, the area, and most of all for the people you will meet. Many thanks and hope to see you again soon.

This place is where a part of my ancestor come from. They worked hard as farmers. I like to try to keep some of their traditions going, I like a simple way of living. Here I can live healthier and in peace with myself. I hope guests can feel the same!

Facilities

From the Owner

Looking at the Alps when the sky is clear, listen to birds and feel the fresh breeze in the morning... Even the fog that stay just below the hills and it looks like a big lake...I think is great. No close neighbours (a part from my family), everything around gives me a sense of freedom and peace. Great place for people who wants to relax, meditate, and at the same time receiving a sincere smile and a warm welcome.
