Perfect cozy barn in our ideal location

  • 5 of 5

The barn was ideally situated for our stay. It was very clean and very cozy as the weather was as on the chilly side. Anne was very helpful in the lead up to our stay, any questions or queries were answered straightaway. The local pub The Red Lion served delicious food and only a short walk from the barn. We visited the National Memorial Arboretum which was amazing and well worth a visit as was Gladstone Pottery. We had a perfect stay.

Splendid

  • 5 of 5

This charming little cottage has all the modern commodities expected in a larger property while clearly a lot of time has been spent on the decor of the place - with plenty of attention to detail. The owners are lovely and made our family feel very welcome. The kids fell in love with the neighbours - a cow and her calf, who they christened Betty and Michelle.

Charming cottage in beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is perfect, we stayed a week but wished it was longer. The location enabled us to explore several villages and small country towns in the region, and we got a bit of walking in too.

There was no highlight because it was all brilliant.

Lovely cottage but a couple of things lacking.

  • 3 of 5

This is a really nice little cottage in a beautiful area but there were a couple of small niggles. We were met at the cottage by Ann but there was no real customer service shown as rather than asking how our journey had been or saying she hoped we had a lovely stay the only thing she really said was that we would need to leave by 10am on the Sunday. When we got inside the cottage it was very nicely decorated and had clearly been done to a very good standard. The kitchen is a little lacking in utensils and cutlery as there were no wooden spoons or fish slices and only four knives, forks and spoons plus 2 teaspoons which considering the cottage sleeps 4 is really only just adequate. The bedrooms are lovely and the bed comfortable. The biggest issue was the heating as it was quite cold when we went but the heating only seemed to come on for a very short period of time in the evening and rather than information on how to put the heating on override there was a slightly stern note on the heating control telling you how to change the temperature but that you must NOT press the other buttons (which I presume are the override buttons). Overall we did enjoy our stay and these issues are quite minor but would have made a big difference.

Owner's Response: Sorry there was a heating problem David, but when i went to prepare the cottage for our next guest on the day of your departure i could see there clearly was a problem with the heating which meant we needed a plumber to look at the boiler, a simple phone call to us would have meant this could have been done while you were there, we only live 2 minutes away and always do our our best if any problems arise for our guests. Anne.
