About Amanda Mehigan

I live in the village so am just a phone call away if there are any problems. We also own Pear Tree Cottage (OwnersDirect UK #8173225) next door and both properties can be used together for larger parties. Please ask about short breaks which are normally available October-March at 2/3 of weekly rate.

Why Amanda Mehigan chose Dorset

The countryside around here is outstandingly beautiful and unspoilt and with the sea nearby and plenty to do and see at all times of the year, it really is the perfect place to live.

What makes this cottage unique

Off road parking for several cars.

Very pretty, well-stocked garden, secluded with views to church.

Many thanks for your hospitality in lovely Myrtle Cottage and Netherbury. We have had the perfect holiday and bless the day we found your advertisement in 'The Spectator'. Dr Paul Kirk, Portland, Oregan USA

Best holiday cottage ever!

Dr E Gowers, Cambridge Summer 2013 and 2014

Had a wonderful time and found your guide really useful. The cottage was beautiful and Dorset lived up to our expectations. We would love to come back again later in the summer. Mrs Jenny Woolcock. Preston

Enjoyed it very much, particularly the lack of fuss and straightforwardness of the arrangements. The kitchen was very spacious - and the garden was an asset. The village is a real treasure, the pub was a throwback and the walk to Beaminster was a delight. Martin Earley. London

We have had a lovely stay in Netherbury – so pretty and quiet. It is a most comfortable cottage – we are all well rested. Netherbury (and all around) is really delightful. We look forward to next time! C. and R.B. Chorleywood, Herts

Beautiful cottage, beautiful place. A.B. Herts.

Picture Perfect...!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had great anticipation of our stay once we saw the photo's and our communications with Amanda, the owner. Once we pulled up outside the Cottage, it all fell into place from the gardens, sun and beauty of the village , let alone the house. Upon entering - we knew this "home" had been made with great care, attention and an eye for the most minute detail. Our stay was just superb, the cottage layout, amenities - down to fresh cider, eggs and other items all laid out or us. We used to love the Cotswolds (and still do) but our new place to stay will be Netherbury - Myrtle Cottage. Amanda - you made our UK trip perfect and we will be back as soon as able. Congratulations on the cottage and your perfect eye and mind for ensuring your guests find a dream away from the real world. 11 out of 10....! Mark

Fabulous Cottage in a pretty village.

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully located in a very pretty village with great restaurants and pubs nearby, this cottage is just perfect for a relaxing break.

With a stylish mix of antique and contemporary furnishings, Myrtle Cottage was immaculately clean, provided a high standard of comfort and all the facilities you might need whilst on holiday.

Relaxing in the garden, exploring the local area and lazing by the inglenook fire was all just heaven. We loved Myrtle Cottage and will be going back!!

Myrtle Cottage A wonderful and well appointed.

  • 5 of 5

We found this cottage on the Owners Direct Site while looking for somewhere to stay within an easy drive of Hive Beach. We were really pleased to find a very clean, well-furnished cottage. The fixtures and fittings are up to date, and comfortable. Being a keen cook I was pleased to find a well-equipped kitchen. We have dogs and it was great to have a utility room for muddy boots and dog feeding. We took a while to get the hang of the fire in the lovely sitting room, but once managed it made this room warm and cosy on the cold evenings. Having chosen to come in January for our stay it was especially good to have a warm house to come back to.

We have stayed in the area before, but this is the best cottage by far. Off street parking, lovely garden for the dogs and great village to walk round. Our attraction to this area was driven by being in easy reach of the Hive Beach Café, Burton Bradstock. The best fresh, well cooked fish dishes ever eaten. So good we ate there every day! The beach is great for walking the dogs with wonderful long views to the east and west. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this cottage to any friends or relatives. So good we have booked to return in the Autumn.

A beautifully presented, fully equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

A lovely cottage which is well presented and maintained. Lovely garden and beautiful surroundings. Set in the heart of Dorset a short walk to Beaminster across the field's. This was our 3rd time staying here and the owners are lovely people as well.

Fantastically equipped and very clean

  • 5 of 5

We spent the weekend away with friends with a one year old and were treated to a some foodie goodies on arrival to well lit cottage on a dark winter night.

We spent a lovely time cosying up by the fire on the first night which was already laid for us.

Enjoyable experience of cooking a meal in a kitchen which is better equipped than my own.
