House in New Polzeath, Wadebridge, North Cornwall, England, UK - Near To National Trust Farmland And Coast Path But Also The Busy Shops Cafes Restaurants In Polzeath

Trehane is a spacious five bedroom house situated minutes walk from Polzeath beach with its vast expanse of sand ideal for surfing and swimming or playing about in the waves. The beach is life guarded during the summer months and theres surf lessons and board hire on the beach. The views of the sea are lovely from the balcony upstairs or sit in the large window on the ground floor and take in the sun. The house is located with National trust land and the coast path to one side and the busy beach, shops, cafes, restaurants and bars to the other side. Pentire Point and the small bays are just a short walk or take a longer walk round to Lundy Bay, Epphaven, Port Quin and keep going to Port Isaac and reward yourself with a pint or cream tea. There are inland paths for the return journey which are much quicker or pick up the taxi at Port Isaac for your return trip. If you walk in the other direction across the beach and take the coast path, through Daymer Bay and along the beach to Rock, then take the ferry over to Padstow, there are some lovely beaches over there or follow the coast path.

A ten minute drive is Rock which is a haven for water sports (sailing, water skiing, fishing, rowing), bars, cafes, restaurants and shops. In the other direction is Port Isaac, well known for the Doc Martin series and film Saving Grace. Port Gaverne and Port Quin are both great for coasteering and kayaking which can be booked before you arrive.

There’s a wide choice of restaurants, among many others there’s The Dining Room, Rock, Nathan Outlaw in Port Isaac, Rick Stein at Padstow or Jamie Oliver at Newquay to the many character village pubs serving local produce.

Spacious, well quiped and warm

We booked the Trehane at short notice for half term holiday, as we all needed a break. There were 11 of us, 2 grandparents, 4 parents, 5 youngsters - youngest 9 months. It being winter, we expected and were rewarded with storms, rain etc, but the house was warm and watertight. Well equiped with a washing machine, tumble dryer, it made coping with the weather easy. The location couldn't be better, say five minutes walk to the beach. Well, it could be better, it could have, it could be right on the beach!

The property is reasonably well maintained, but in view of the usuage, probably OK. One of the chairs was a bit ropey, too many people must have leant too far back, the carpets were a bit worn, but we understand they are being replaced shortly.

As a family group, we found that Trehane worked for us. All the children were under 5 years of age, so we did have to keep an eye on the toddlers keen to climb the stairs,

We would return to Trehane again, especially in the summer, if family circumstances permitted.

Great Location

We booked the property for a family Christmas with parties coming from all over the UK and from France. It was easy to get to and in a beautiful location, 5 mins walk from Polzeath beach,

The house is a good size (we filled it to the max occupancy of 11 people) and there is plenty of cutlery and crockery provided to ensure the whole holiday is not spent washing up !!

Bedrooms are a good size and there are three toilets/bathrooms (although strangely, only one shower which can be a little difficult with 11 people wanting to shower each day!) and the utility room is a great bonus meaning the kitchen never got too crowded.

Bad points: Not many really, the house could really do with a second shower and the carpets are tired and really need updating. Great that there are recycling facilities provided but could do with some laminated colour-coded instructions in the utility room - too much to remember meant lots of cross-referencing to the house instruction book every time! Other than that, all is good.

Would we book again? Yes.

AMAZING AND PLEASANT STAY

Property is amazing as shown in the picture, marvellous view of the beach, plenty of space to park upto 4 cars. we went with friends and family and each room has plenty of space and we never ended up with sleeping one over other :-) - sufficient space for 11 people, the only drawback of this property - it got only one shower among 3 bathrooms other than that, it is highly recommended to stay.

Booked every yr for 3 yrs plus next year too

I think that the fact that we have spent a summer holiday at “Trehane” for the last three years and that we have already booked it for summer 2016, speaks for itself.

Our party numbers ten guests, my wife and myself, both retired, our two adult children with their partners and our four young grandchildren. We find that the accommodation gives us all “adequate space” and we are not on top of each other.

The property has a secluded garden- perfect for summer alfresco dining. There is a large double garage which contains a wealth of surfing and beach equipment that guests are welcome to use. The house is located within easy walking access to the main beach and to two quieter coves.

Was the listing description accurate regarding the location, layout, facilities, etc – yes the listing description was accurate.

Was the property clean, was it well-maintained? the property was clean and well maintained.

Did the owner or manager provide good customer service? Linda Craven, the property manager provided an excellent “customer service” she was very pleasant and totally professional.

Would you recommend this property to a friend or relative? Yes certainly, and we have done so already

What activities, attractions and restaurants did you like or dislike? Our main activities were surfing, rock fishing , walking and crazy golf and rock pooling, with the grandchildren. Boat fishing is available from either Rock or Padstow.

We all went to the vibrant “surfers church – Tube Station” on a Sunday morning,if you are not early it is standing room only.

As to restaurants they are a movable feast (no pun intended) a good restaurant one year can be “less than ordinary” the next. One restaurant that we have found to be of consistent good quality (over the 18years that we have be visiting Polzeath) is the White Heron, the menu is varied, and the prices reasonable for both food and drink and it is especially good for family dining.

In conclusion, I can thoroughly recommend this property for a pleasant Polzeath holiday.
