This is the second time we have stayed at basia and John's apartment for 28 days it is first class accomodation with wonderful views from the balcony over the marina old town and out to sea
It is ideal for couples and families nice swimming pool with a good play area for children
The apartment itself has two bedrooms and bathrooms with a well equipped kitchen
The Owners are always on hand if you have any problems

We have been to this building already twice before but in the smaller apartments. Now we came first time with our 3 year old son to our first "sea" holiday. Everything was set up in a way we would not even expect. Apartment is big enough for family with 2-3 children or two couples.
We liked especially the terrace and big kitchen. However the beds were also very comfortable. Location is something what we value a lot and this one is great. No problem with parking around the building, couple minutes to the centre of town, 10-15 minutes walk to the Meia Praia. Altough we usually took a car and tried many different beaches in the area.

Booked this apartment based on the photographs and reviews but I am afraid the reality is quite different. The views from the balcony to the marina and the sea are lovely but everything else leaves a lot to be desired.
This was originally one large apartment and the owners have split the apartment by means of a flimsy wooden partition which has a concealed door which can be opened from the owners side only and we had no way of securing it at our side. This flimsy partition separates their apartment from your tiny living room. The wooden partition is no thicker than laminate and moves when touched. Because this is not a solid wall you can hear every noise coming from their apartment eg running water, conversations, washing machine, tv. meals etc.
Because this was originally one large apartment the balcony has also been separated by means of a wooden partition which does not reach the full height of the balcony and also has a glass door which can only be opened from the owners side, so again no privacy. It felt as if we were living with the owners.
Another major concern is that the front door of the apartment is accessed regularly by the owners and their business partners as they had an office and private toilet within the confines of our apartment front door, again no privacy as when you are in the living room you can clearly hear conversations from within their office. The only thing separating our apartment from the office and toilet is an internal door which can be opened with the same key that opens the apartment front door. You can hear the front door of your apartment being opened and closed on a regular basis which is very disconcerting. Quite honestly we did not feel safe in this apartment. None of these arrangements were explained to us when we booked this apartment. The whole set up of this apartment is to say the least bizarre and clients booking should be aware of the situation which we were not.
This apartment comes highly recommended. Easily located from the airport and upon arrival, we received much needed basics in the fridge plus a bottle of wine! The accommodation itself is just home from home with everything you need and completely comfortable and spacious. Very central to the beaches, supermarket and centre. The owners are extremely helpful and will most definitely be returning, thank you!
We had a 3 year boy with us and the top flat was full of toys/books/videos to keep him entertained and the pool was never crowded. The accommodation had a lovely large balcony, good kitchen facilities with all the oil, butter, dust bin liners etc thrown in and the best part was when we arrived at 11.30pm we were greeted and we had bread, butter, cheese, fruit, coffee, tea, milk and a bottle of wine provided. The location was central to the harbour and walking distance to the main centre, shopping food halls, cafes and restaurants and fishing pickup points. The beach was within walking distance but we preferred to drive. The owners Basia and John lived close by and gave all the help we needed. I fully recommend the flat the car parking was easy excellent bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, internet, UK TV channels, lift and a lot of space, fully air conditioned.

WALK: and really get to know the Algarve. The undulating landscape leads to unspoilt countryside to explore. Hike in the countryside in the early spring and you will find an abundance of flowers in bloom.
MOTOR SPORTS: the splendid new Autódromo is 10 minutes drive. It hosts a number of important events and is one of Europe's largest go cart tracks.
CYCLING: cyclists are now discovering warm sunny winters in the Algarve make it an ideal location and low winter accommodation costs make it a bargain.
BIRD WATCHING: The Sagres peninsular, 25 minutes by car, is a haven for some very exciting species breeding in the cliffs. A bird watchers paradise! As winter approaches the great migration begins over Sagres as Northern birds fly off to the warmer African climate. The Alvor Estuary, 15 minutes drive, is a major staging point for migrating waterbirds and is a RAMSAR site (Internationally recognised b
ird sanctuary)

There super sandy beaches, many within easy walking distance. MEIA PRAIA beach is the largest in the Algarve, with numerous beach bars and and activities. You go over the 'draw bridge' to the marina with its bustling activities. Fun filled bars, restaurants, cafes and coffee shops. There is a newsagent, perfumery and cash machine. Here and on the esplanade you have the opportunity to book a variety of boating activities.
There are 8 beaches within a few minutes drive and many with BLUE FLAGs.

There is a bus service in the village of Burgau to outlying villages and the town of Lagos.
