About Judy Bromley-Davenport

I live in Cheshire with my husband and we have 3 children and 2 dogs a pug and a labrador. My husband works at home and in Manchester on legal cases and I work from home on various projects and do alot of charity work.

Judy Bromley-Davenport purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Judy Bromley-Davenport chose Malpas

We used to live in North-East Cheshire, but have always wanted to live in South Cheshire as it is nearer to Wales and we like being near to the Sandstone Trail for walking, also good golf courses like Portal and Delamere are nearby.

Our house is on the Cholmondeley Castle Estate which we love and we often go into Cholmondeley Park to walk in the beautiful gardens and see the rare breeds of animals.

We are also very keen racegoers and frequently go the Chester racecourse.

There are a number of very good pubs nearby.

We are only 25 minutes from Crewe station and yet in the most beautiful quiet spot.

What makes this cottage unique

A lovely location. Very quiet and well away from the roads and traffic.

Use of a astro turf tennis court.

Access to many sporting activities: Riding, Golf, tennis, polo, racing at Chester and Bangor throughout the year, motor-racing (Oulton Park) Delamere Forest for cycling and Go-Ape.

The picturesque small towns of Tarporley and Malpas are nearby and are well worth a visit.

Manchester and Airport 50 minutes

Liverpool Airport 40 minutes

Courtyard cottage was the perfect venue to enjoy a country Christmas .We had a super time

  • 5 of 5

Courtyard cottage is set in gently rolling Cheshire countryside in the delightful grounds of a farm on the edge of the Cholmondeley estate .It is very well appointed with good quality linens and comfortable furniture .The kitchen is well equipped so that we were able to host festive meals for our family who came to visit .

Judy is very considerate of her guests needs and does her best to ensure that they have everything that they might require .We had a generous welcome pack on our arrival which included eggs from the chickens in the garden and champagne to help us celebrate .We were provided with a barrow load of well seasoned logs so that we could enjoy roaring fires in the wood burning stove and make the cottage really cosy and warm .

Our spaniel Otto enjoyed his morning walks around the paddock and exploring the local paths and bridleways .

We thoroughly enjoyed our deep mid winter stay and hope to go back in the spring or summer when we imagine the countryside is lush and full of wildlife .

Owner's Response: It is always rewarding to have lovely reviews. Courtyard Cottage is cosy and tucked away in a quiet and beautiful location but easily accessible to all the local attractions. Many of our guests come back each year for different events or just for a long weekend. We look forward to welcoming you to this glorious part of Cheshire.

Cosy cottage in an idyllic location

  • 5 of 5

We booked for a week and were lucky enough to be able to extend to 12 days. What a find this cosy cottage was. All the amenities one could wish for. Comfortable beds. The linens were changed twice while we were there so always crisp and fresh. Plenty of hot water for bathing and an airing cupboard filled with warm fluffy towels. Judy, the owner, is delightful and was there to welcome us on arrival. A thoughtful hamper of breakfast items surprised us especially as it included croissants and fresh ground coffee. Even marmalade and jam were provided in pretty serving containers. The patio table and chairs are perfectly located for relaxing evening glass of wine while enjoying the beautiful scenery. We definitely want to return. Thank you, Judy for sharing your lovely corner of Cheshire!

Beautiful, peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

Owner meet us when we arrived. There was a generous, unexpected, welcome pack. The accommodation was very clean and no shortage of hot water. Dish washer, washing machine and dryer, microwave, fridge, cooker all insitu along with a great log burning fire. The owners also provided TV DVD and a selection of DVDs. I don't think this accommodation could be improved, with seating outside as well for a glass of wine as the sun set. Just perfect!! Cholmondeley Castle gardens make a great visit as does the Cholmondeley Arms pub, both nearby.

What a beautiful corner of England.

Fantastic location - wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely beautiful place to stay. Full of cosy character and lovely and peaceful. Judy was just lovely - gave our daughter some insect repellent as she was scared of wasps and hunted for some spare tennis rackets so we could play tennis on her tennis court. She even had a breakfast pack waiting for us in the cottage on our arrival. Nothing was too much trouble! We will definitely return again and hopefully stay longer next time.

The cottage was cosy, comfortable and had every amenity we could have wished for. Judy had left provisions for generous breakfasts and the surroundings were gorgeous and peaceful. We were in the area for an equestrian competition so only sampled the Cholmondely Arms for dinner. Highly recommended!

Would certainly recommend the property.
