A wonderful peaceful location with a great pool in a beautiful area. Ideal for a family break.

  • 5 of 5

We as a family have holidayed for the last 20 years in the south of France and visited the Carcassonne area before but this is the first time we stayed there. Our daughter appears to be part fish so a pool was essential and the pool at Ynys Dawel did not disappoint. The views from the private gardens were stunning and the whole area was very tranquil yet not isolated.

The Carcassonne area has so much to visit, particular highlights for us were the Medieval jousting display at the Cite, Las Tours and a boat trip on the Canal Du Midi.

Brian, the owner, was extremely helpful through the whole booking and payment process and at the Gite we found everything we could need. Would we stay at Ynys Dawel again? Yes!

Beautiful gite in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

From the beginning, Brian the gites owner was very helpful and provided us with all the information we needed. We were on our honeymoon and wanted a quiet and private location and it certainly provided us with that. While being in a village, it is situated on a quiet road and is not overlooked by any neighbours.

The gite was larger than expected. The bedrooms were big, the kitchen very well equipped, with a lovely living room and a good bathroom with a great shower.

Outside, the gite sits in large gardens full of fruit treas. The terrace is huge and is partly covered so there is plenty of room to sit in the sun or shade and there is also a large six seater dining table. The swimming pool and area around it was our highlight, big enough to swim in and plenty of room to sunbathe. However the views from the pool were just amazing.

Carcassonne and the medieval city is 10 minutes away, with many of the main sites and attractions within an hour.

Finally, it was a wonderful place to spend a very special time in our lives and we will certainly look forward to staying again.

What a fantastic place to stay

  • 5 of 5

From the very beginning I was so impressed with how helpful the owner of this property was. Lots of information helped us plan this holiday. The accommodation is fantastic and much better than it appears on these photos. The house is a decent size, bedrooms are really big for a holiday home, excellent kitchen and a lovely living room. The bathroom has the best shower i have ever used.

Now for the outside. The long terrace is just briliant for sitting and eating in. It is fully covered, athough we did have some storms which were entertaining! The terrace is huge with a lovely big dining table and chairs. At the far end, which is uncovered is another table and a bbq.

The gardens are also huge, its a big plot of land. Lots of fresh fruit tress. Now for the best bit.....The pool with a view. Never have i swam anywhere with such an amazing view from the pool. It is so well designed and a very sunny spot. Sadly we didnt have the kind of weather you would expect for the south of France in August, but we still were in the pool every day and it was still comfortable at around 24 degrees. The pool although unheated was a very pleasant temperature. The area is lovely, its in a small town just 10 minutes drive from Carcassonne.

This place is really fabulous and we are so glad we came here. Thank you.
