Les Carroz is suitable for all levels of ability, from absolute beginners and children to highly experienced skiers and snowboarders. We come skiiing as a family and find it easy to come and go individually around Les Carroz. For anyone not skiing in the winter the village is charming, and in the summer the scenery is stunning.

Fabulous location!

We had such a wonderful holiday in Les Carroz. We had never been to the Alps in the summer before and it far exceeded our expectations. Les Carroz is such a lovely village and there was so much to do with our two boys (age 5 & 7). The appartment is opposite the swimming pools and we went every day! We also got the telecabin to the top of the mountain and did some lovely walks, went horse riding, parachuted off the mountain, enjoyed the high ropes course, played tennis, badminton.... The list goes on!

There was a great choice of restaurants and cafes and the tourist office always had events/ music in the square. We even went to Le Croix de Savoie, a Michelin starred restaurant, and they were so welcoming to the kids.

The surrounding area was beautiful. We particularly enjoyed Lake Passy where the kids could play on the beach and swim.

We would love to return!

Wonderful stay in Les Carroz

This was our third time staying in Les Carroz at summer time . We love it here . Apartment is cosy and welcoming , with everything you need and the balcony view looking out towards the mountain and village is beautiful and many a bottle of wine was drank outside . The apartment is right opposite the swimming pool which is ideal for the kids. Great base also for exploring local areas , Chamonix a must and Annecy , which is one of the most stunning places I have ever been to . Last night of our holiday , it rained but the village centre still had on some entertainment and gave everyone free mulled wine !! Looking forward to our next trip .

Great location, overlooking the village with the ski slopes in the background, peaceful and quiet yet only a ten minute walk to the village centre or just a few minutes on the free bus!

On arrival the apartment was spotless, all the towels and bed linen were in place, a very well equipped kitchen, huge TV, piles of DVDs, and overall a much larger floor area than other similar apartments I have rented!

The property is looked after by an agency in the village, who were very cheerful, and efficient.

Ski lockers are in the neighbouring building and from there it is a 50 metre walk to the bus stop and then on to the main ski lift , this service operates all day!

The new pool complex is just a 5 minute walk.

Les Carroz is a great village with something for everyone.

Summer in the mountains

Our family of two parents and two teenagers enjoyed a week here as a contrast to our usual beach holiday. The location is great - opposite the swimming pool (reduced admission prices from 6pm, ideal for a pre-dinner dip) - and only 10 minutes' easy walk from the shops. A car is essential for exploring the area but do not trust the satnav to find Les Carroz as it will take you up a dead end in a different village!

The apartment was clean, comfortable and well equipped (unlimited hot water) and the vast collection of DVDs was a real bonus as most evenings included a spectacular thunderstorm with torrential rain. The days were warm and sunny and we did several of the walks with maps from the tourist office (warning: "easy" trails for "young" children obviously means sporty children who are already used to mountains ... take proper walking boots).

We found everyone very friendly, especially the local agents, and we had some delicious meals of Savoyard specialities in the village. A holiday treat was choosing ready-made dishes from the traiteur and heating them up in the oven while we had an aperitif on the balcony, gazing at the lovely view. We were slightly surprised at some of the prices in the supermarkets but appreciate that transporting the products round all those hair-pin bends adds to the cost - if a budget meal is required we recommend Crescendo at Carrefour in Cluses but somebody has to drive back up the mountain afterwards.

We did a day trip to Annecy, which is beautiful but too crowded in high season, and didn't manage a trip to Geneva. Our favourite outing was the trip in the telecabine and the walk at the top, where we saw paragliders taking off from the slopes and mountain goats with bells. Watching the mountain bikers was pretty good too. We should definitely have pre-booked the restaurant at the lake as they ran out of food for drop-ins.

We had a really nice time here and would recommend it to people who are happy to relax in tranquil and beautiful surroundings.

Un très bel appartement !

Nous avons séjourné aux Carroz d'Arâches, début août, à l'occasion de la semaine chantante des Chœurs de France, dans ce très bel appartement, qui correspond tout-à-fait à la description sur le site. Il se situe à 5 minutes de la salle multifonctions et de la piscine. Le linge de lits et de toilette est fourni et le ménage compris ! C'est parfait !!

We bought this flat because we had stayed in Les Carroz several times and loved the skiiing and the village. These apartments have all mod cons and are great for easy access to the ski bus and slopes.

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary


Geneva Airport - 50 mins drive.

Chambery Airport - 75 mins drive.

Calais/Dunkirk - 7-8 hrs drive.

Further Details:

Les Carroz is particularly well suited for family holidays, winter sports, walking and mountain biking holidays in the summer. The ski season begins pre-Christmas and runs through to mid April. Throughout July and August the telecabine and a selection of chair lifts are open, providing mountain access for both walkers and bikers. With many waymarked routes, both easy and challenging terrain can be enjoyed. There are also specific downhill courses for mountain biking and competitions during the summer. Directly opposite the apartment is the Les Carroz sport centre, complete with outdoor competition swimming pool, childrens pools, slides and extensive grounds for relaxing/sunbathing. There are also tennis and volleyball facilities. The village has many restaurants, bars and boutique shops, plus a choice of supermarkets, banks, cinema, night club and cinema. There is also an ice rink in the village centre during the winter season. Various weekly entertainment events occur in the village during both the winter and summer seasons, check with the tourist office for further details.
