About Christine Barrows

We have tried to create a comfortable house with modern amenities yet retaining some period style. The location was chosen because of the superb views, proximity to the town and its excellent facilities.

Christine Barrows purchased this house in 2006

Why Christine Barrows chose Windermere & Central Lakes

We feel so lucky to have a house in the heart of the lake district. It is just above the town , in a quiet cul de sac with views of the fells, yet only 3 minutes walk from the centre of town (five minutes to walk back!) and offering private parking.

The house is equally suited to families or groups of adults and our family and friends use it as a base for walking, climbing, touring the area or just as a restful retreat.

The town amenties include five cinema screens, multiple restaurants and bars, a park with tennis , bowls etc and a spa.

What makes this house unique

Total relaxation! Mountain walks and town amenities can both be reached without a car. Superb long distance views.

‘…we really enjoyed staying at your property, the location was perfect and really surprising how quiet it is given how close the house is to Ambleside. I think you have done a really good job renovating the house and the bath is fantastic for aching bodies after a big walk! John (Yorks)

‘We loved the house and really enjoyed the garden area with the beautiful fell views from the top seating area’ Rosie (Preston)

‘It’s a lovely place and you have put a lot of love and care in it’ Frank (Netherlands)

First Class rental property, a home from home

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful walking venue, despite persistent rain, we only moved our car once during a 5 day stay, great walks from house and only 5-6 minute walk to village of Ambleside, though only for those able to manage walking a hilly slope or a lot of steps, otherwise, will need to use car to go to village. House is excellent, in particular lovely comfortable beds, good quality linen, warm & cosy, lots of games, very well fitted kitchen with most of what you'll need, great spacious bath & separate shower. Very quiet neighbourhood, nice views from back and front windows.

A stunning location

The house was the perfect location to enjoy Ambleside and the surrounding area. The views from the front were stunning and the path at the back led to quiet walks and climbs.

Commanding views

  • 5 of 5

The house is on a quiet elevated lane and is well located for all the amenities that Ambleside has to offer, just a 5 minute walk into the centre. The house was warm, cosy and meticulously clean and had everything to make our weekend break a memorable one. The distant views over Loughrigg Fell and beyond are spectacular . We will be back.

Absolutely Fab Christmas 2016

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for the Christmas period and it ticked all of the boxes that we wanted it to. There are walks just out the back garden gate and the town centre is a 5-10 mins stroll away. Yes the property is on a hill, but the views are worth it. We had family come and visit for a few days of our stay and they were in their mid 60's and tackled the hills no problems, they just took their time to catch their breath. The log burner in the Kitchen is a lovely touch and this combined with the stand alone bath, really make it a lovely stay. The bedrooms are all well sized and there is plenty of room in the kitchen to cook a Christmas Turkey. We love Ambleside and have stayed there a few times, this is by far the best property we have stayed in and we enjoyed our break immensely. Many thanks for a lovely stay.
