About Christine Barrows

We have tried to create a comfortable house with modern amenities yet retaining some period style. The location was chosen because of the superb views, proximity to the town and its excellent facilities.

Why Christine Barrows chose Windermere & Central Lakes

We feel so lucky to have a house in the heart of the lake district. It is just above the town , in a quiet cul de sac with views of the fells, yet only 3 minutes walk from the centre of town (five minutes to walk back!) and offering private parking.

The house is equally suited to families or groups of adults and our family and friends use it as a base for walking, climbing, touring the area or just as a restful retreat.

The town amenties include five cinema screens, multiple restaurants and bars, a park with tennis , bowls etc and a spa.

What makes this house unique

Total relaxation! Mountain walks and town amenities can both be reached without a car. Superb long distance views.

Outside: Access via steps to terraced rear garden with two patio areas, garden furniture and barbeque. Small front garden. Parking for one car in front of the house. Utility Room: Spacious heated Drying Room with washer/dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen Towels and linen included. Weekly cleaning.

Wonderful property in a great location

This is an excellent property to stay in Ambleside and Christine was a pleasure to deal with. We had an issue with having to change our dates soon after booking and she couldn’t have been more accommodating about it. Communication regarding directions and key collection could not have been clearer and our security deposit was refunded extremely quickly after we left.

The house itself was wonderful, the photos actually don’t do it justice! The lounge is cosy and comfortable with lovely views and the kitchen is large and well equipped. There is a huge basement with washer and drier which is handy for coat and dirty boot storage also. The bedrooms are comfortable and very quiet, the two doubles have stunning views over the town towards Loughrigg. The whole house is spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom is absolutely huge with a large tub and separate shower. The only small suggestion I would have is that some hanging space in the second double bedroom would be nice! Even a hook on the door to hang a dressing gown!

There is a designated car parking space out the front, which is a bit tight for a large car, but you only have one or two neighbours who might need to get past, so it is not a big issue. We personally found the walk down to Ambleside to be a bit too difficult (a mixture of elderly, toddler in buggy and 7 month pregnant lady in our party!) But for anyone of reasonable fitness, it is less than 5 mins down a little pathway and you’re right in the centre of town. We drove down and up and we had no issue in finding on street parking.

This is a wonderful property in a lovely location, we were only sorry we were staying for such a short visit. We will definitely be back again.

First Class rental property, a home from home

Wonderful walking venue, despite persistent rain, we only moved our car once during a 5 day stay, great walks from house and only 5-6 minute walk to village of Ambleside, though only for those able to manage walking a hilly slope or a lot of steps, otherwise, will need to use car to go to village. House is excellent, in particular lovely comfortable beds, good quality linen, warm & cosy, lots of games, very well fitted kitchen with most of what you'll need, great spacious bath & separate shower. Very quiet neighbourhood, nice views from back and front windows.

A stunning location

Commanding views

The house is on a quiet elevated lane and is well located for all the amenities that Ambleside has to offer, just a 5 minute walk into the centre. The house was warm, cosy and meticulously clean and had everything to make our weekend break a memorable one. The distant views over Loughrigg Fell and beyond are spectacular . We will be back.
