The Ultimate Salento Experience

  • 5 of 5

It was an outstanding experience in an unusual and fascinating accomodation. The listing description was accurate with location and facilities. The property was clean and both well preserved and maintained. The manager provided good customer service. I would definitely recommend this property. The two activities I would recommend are the visit to the ancient olive trees on the way to Torre Guaceto, and Torre Guaceto Natural Reserve itself, with the beautiful sandy beach and cristall water sea.

Serena vacanza in Puglia

  • 5 of 5

Not in a good location and with no guidance to the area

  • 2 of 5

The property had been very well restored - the main problem with it is it's location - it was down a couple of lanes with lots of potholes - it felt very cut off there because the phone connection was not good and although we were given a password we could not connect to the internet - it would have helped if the property had provided some local information eg if there were any good local restaurants nearby - San Vito de Normanni was quite a confusing town - we drove through quite a few times but never really saw any main centre - most of the buildings all had their shutters down - we went to the supermarket one day to find it was closed half day and then it was hard to find any shops open -we had a problem with the shower - the water did not drain away very well as the drainage pipe was too small and full of leaves from outside - we tried to mop it up but found the only bucket had a hole in - we did find a nice beach to go to but this was by chance - would not recommend this to anyone because it was too difficult to go out in the evening which is usually the fun part of a holiday - the lady who let us in on the first day was very friendly and as helpful as she could be with very limited English - the property was very clean

Owner's Response: The property is located in the countryside, with all the advantages and disadvantages that countryside involves. Maybe on the litlle street you can find some " potholes" but also an incredible nature, with fruits trees, magnificient olives trees, flowers, birds, and silence.... Internet it works well, just need to put the correct password given at the check in by the staff. Inside the "Trullo della Pace" there is a drower full of infos, like pharmacies, supermarket, restaurants and also places of tourist interest. San Vito has an incredible historic centre with the magnificient Middle Ages Castello di Dentice di Frasso. All around there are plenty of little bar, coffe shop, wine bar and little clubs and all this is well illustrated in the brochures inside the " Trullo della Pace" In South Italy, half day a week, most of the time the afternoon, is considered for rest, but some of the supermarket are open on Sunday, and this is also illustrated on the brochures inside the Trullo For what concerning the house, any occasional problem has usually a quick resolution by the persons of the staff. They are always ready to give support as soon as they are informed about it, and there is not need of any actions by the customers for this purpose. There are 2 showers ( one in the bathroom, one outside) and they work perfectly. In that part of Salento are plenty of incredible beaches, the most beautifull in Puglia and maybe in all Italy. One of them, Torre Guaceto (the closest) is a WWF natural reserve with white sand and rocks as well, and all this is well shown also in the website. Going out at night is one of the best moment in Valle d'Itria, where the Trullo is situated. There are plenty of little town and village with lots of activitys, good restaurant, local clubs and perfect weather: Just reed the brochures, so simple....

Peace in Puglia

  • 4 of 5

Called Trullo della Pace this place is ideal for a couple wanting some peace and relaxation surrounded by olive trees. It is small but beautiful and one of thousands of trulli in this part of Puglia. It gets the morning sun at the front and has a south facing patio at the side. We were there the first week of April but didn't eat one meal indoors!

The double bed is very comfortable and the bedroom and bathroom are in the extension at the back. The living room has a comfy sofa, armchair and a large dining table and chairs. Sitting inside and looking up at the cone shaped ceiling is an unusual but amazing experience. The decor is low key but tasteful. The kitchen is in a separate building a few yards from the front door. Once you get used to it it all makes sense as it is closer to the patio. It's small (two's a crowd!) but the outside space makes up for that. The location is good. About 5 minutes from the main road to San Vito and 30 minutes to Brindisi and the airport, it is also not far from some amazing towns, countryside and beaches. Alessandro is very helpful but we were met by Patrizia and her husband who live nearby and look after things. They were so friendly and gave us the benefit of their local knowledge. Trullo della Pace was our home for a week. It just wasn't long enough!

Bonita vacacion en Puglia

  • 5 of 5

Peace & quiet amongst the olive groves

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I spent 6 days at Trullo della Pace amongst the olive groves and had a fabulous time, we visited nearby towns such as Villafranca, Ceglie Mesapica and Martina Franca and marvelled at their history, the beautiful churches, castles etc. The people were very friendly and went out of their way to help. We once asked for directions to a restaurant and the woman, who was just leaving work said I will show you, expecting her to give us directions, she took us to her car and not only drove us to the restaurant but went in and told the owner that we were English etc. How kind is that? We also loved San Vito dei Normanii which also had beautiful churches, a castle and a lovely square for a coffee and to watch the world go by. I recommend Restaurant Nona Mena in Via Edison.
