A pretty cottage overlooking a carp lake, situated in grounds of approx 2 acres. The grounds are extremlely beautiful with very well established with trees and plants. The cottage is the only property in the grounds so total privacy is guaranteed. Chill out, sunbathe, go boating, fish, the list is endless. This property is unique - the cottage is finished and furnished to a high standard so you can enjoy the outdoor life in luxury. The Lakeside is fantastic for a family holiday, holidaywith friends, or a honeymoon. Ladies can chill out if the boys want to fish, or just get in the boat and float around the lake sunbathing. Enjoy lazy evenings on the veranda, a large BBQ is provided.
We are a family business, Simon, Julie Tom and Ellie
own Gite Holidays Normandy. Simon and Tom renovate the properties and Ellie and Julie do all the interior design and bookings. We love living in France
and have lived here now for nearly seven years.
Julie Williams purchased this cottage in 2010
We purchased this property in 2010, but had to wait quite a while to complete it as it was a new build, it was finished in 2012, however we have really enjoyed camping up there during the build as it is such a beautiful place.
It is one of our most favourate places and we often stay there ourselves for weekends when it is not booked, it is so private and tranquil and of course the boys love to fish, we also use it for get togethers and BBQs with our friends and family. Simon and Tom also organise Fishing Competitions which are held there. Ellie loves to row around the lake with our dog Max. I just like to use the pool and sunbathe. It is our little piece of heaven.
When we stay at the property we feel totally chilled out and relaxed. You feel cut off from the world whilst you are there, but then when you realise you have forgotten something you are only 5 minutes drive from Sourdeval which is great. So if you fancy heading off for a meal in the evening you are only a few minutes away.
The cottage also has a Karaoke machine so everyone can sing their hearts out without anyone else hearing,
its a great place for evenings and little parties, which we do a lot of.
We are still adding things to Lakeside and it will evolve as time goes on, we would love to organise small Weddings and Wedding Anniversary Parties as it would be perfect for this, so people could have a holiday and celebrate a special occasion at the same time.
Thankyou Julie and Simon for letting us stay in your wonderful cottage. We had the most amazing time and enjoyed all the BBQs, fishing and using the boat. the surroundings are beautiful and we have totally relaxed.
The cottage was so lovely and comfy we just did not want to leave. We are going to tell everyone about it when we get back home. Hope to see you again.

Dear Simon and Tom,
Thankyou very much for helping me and Sadie to catch our first fish, we had a great time, especially when Tom showed us how to smoke it in the biscuit
tin, we are going to tell all our friends at school. We want Mum to book it again for next year. Hope to see you again.

I came to Lakeside Lodge with my husband for a romantic stay to welcome in the New Year. It was a welcomed break in idyllic settings. We were welcomed by a bottle of champagne and chocolates which was a lovely surprise from Julie. It was a relaxing way to start 2017 and we hope to be back later in the year to make the most of the fishing lake and the pool as it was much too cold to do so this time!
We had a great holiday at the cottage - the boat and the fishing being the highlights. It is convenient for sightseeing and the beaches around Granville. We also spent several days relaxing at the property. The only downside was the size and temperature of the pool.
Julie, Simon and Tom couldn't have been more helpful - we had some difficulties with a puncture and mobile phones not working, where they went out of their way to assist us.
A peaceful location and great people to rent from resulted in a really relaxing holiday.
Lakeside Cottage is a lovely little cottage in Normandy, it is well decorated and has all the conveniences and essentials you need on holiday. We stayed with our three children aged between 10 and 15 and they all loved the lake and the boats, they spent a lot of time jumping in or rowing around it, it was a really lovely feature! The pool, as the previous reviewer mentioned, isn't really a pool more of a plunge pool and was a little too cold to use when we stayed but I would imagine it is lovely in the hotter weather. There were plenty of indoor and outdoor games for us to use during our stay and the BBQ was great.
The area is lovely but very secluded. Vire is the biggest town about 10km away and has some lovely restaurants, several supermarkets, a great chocolate shop and a fab market on Fridays. The bigger attractions of Bayeux, the Normandy Beaches, Caen and Mont St. Michel are all accessible, about 50 mins to an hour away. If you are looking to get away, relax and enjoy the slow pace of French life, this is definitely a lovely place to stay.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The location is lovely and the lake provides swimming and boating. It is, however, small and six people would be a squeeze if you could not spend most time outside. The pool is also really just a plunge pool which surprised us as there were no pictures which we could find. Having said that, we were made welcome and the cottage has comfortable furniture, British television, a reasonable kitchen and good water pressure for comfort. Vire has several restaurants and Sourdeval has the essentials.
If it's peace and quiet you require, Lakeside Cottage is for you. The cottage is surrounded by mature trees and faces onto it's own lake. A substantial patio/decking area is just perfect for alfresco dining and entertaining. The cottage interior has been cleverly designed to maximise space and is furnished to a very high standard. All amenities and facilities were as promised with a few extra nice touches to make our stay more enjoyable. The location of Lakeside makes it easy to tour places of interest in the lovely Normandy countryside. Cannot wait for our next visit!
Stayed here for a week with our four girls aged between 15 & 21.
Could't have asked for anything better. It so relaxing and my husband loved the fishing and he taught all of us to fish although some of us didn't catch anything. It is so peaceful and relaxing. We didn't venture out much just sunbathed on the sun beds and in the fishing boats.
Would thoroughly recommend this cottage.
Lovely little villages in the surrounding areas and plenty to do if you want to venture out further.
