Studio Apartment in East Pennard, Nr. Glastonbury, Somerset, England, UK - Converted Farm Building. Quiet Rural Location Close To Glastonbury And Bath & West Showground

The Byre is a light and airy studio flat converted from a farm building, and forms part of a Grade II listed property. The apartment comprises of a kitchen/dining area with the shower room leading off. The bed can be made up as a double or two singles. outside the property is a seating area which is south facing and gets the sun most of the day and there is ample parking in front of the property. Pets are welcome and we have fields they can be exercised in ( ask on arrival )

About Mick Battye

Your hosts, Mick and Maddy, bought Boxbush Farmhouse in 1995 as a family home. All the children have now left home so we now share it with our cat Smokey, dog George, two horses and some chickens which keep us busy. We enjoy the outdoor lifestyle and never tire of the scenary.

Why Mick Battye chose Mendip (Glastonbury)

We love a challenge and Boxbush Farm was just that. A Grade II listed building, which had not been lived in for 8 years, had no water or electricity and was in a poor state of repair. We did all the renovation ourselves (apart from the thatching) We have solar PV panels on the stable roof which produce electricity for us. One of the reasons for buying it was the view we get over the Somerset Levels, and we enjoyed living in such a peaceful location.

What makes this apartment unique

The network of footpaths and tracks make excellent walking of all standards including The Monarchs Way, the escape route of Charles II.

Such an amazing find

We had stayed here for 4 nights while on our travel's in Somerset, and had found The Cow Shed and oh what a find! We spent 4 nights here and was such a lovely property in a very rural area, not too far from Glastonbury or Shepton Mallet and we would certianly stay here again

Beautiful location, Welcoming Hosts, lovely break.

The Property was very clean and had everything needed, such a beautiful location, we couldn't fault anything. The hosts, Mick and Maddie were very friendly and gave us privacy. There was a bottle of local cider and juices awaiting when we arrived which was very much appreciated after a long car journey. The bed was very comfortable, best few nights sleep we've had in a long time.

Ssssh, it's oh so quiet and beautiful!

The accommodation is wonderfully set out and spotlessly clean, the owners, Maddy and Mike have made a real effort to get everything right. Even down to greeting us with a selection of local beverages, which was much appreciated after a long journey. Our first visit to Somerset, what a delish place, you won't be bored!

Cosy, beautifully situated, lovely owners

Perfectly located on a hill opposite Glastonbury Tor, walk in one direction to see the Tor and the other for stunning long distance views to the Quantocks. I stayed with my dog for a week and found some breathtaking walks, conveniently punctuated by cider farms and farm shops.

The cottage was also ideally located for visiting Glastonbury, Wells and other local attractions - for a dog friendly cafe, the Bishop's Palace in Wells can't be beaten.

Despite the fact The Byre is a studio, it was spacious and well appointed. The walk in shower is surprisingly huge and the kitchen facilities were more than adequate.

The owners were friendly, warm and helpful and offered the use of washing machine and dryer, very welcome on wet days.

The table and chairs on the terrace outside is quite a sun trap and wonderful for coffee in the morning or dinner in the evening - it caught the sun all day.

Most of all, it was restful, peaceful and relaxing - I spent a lot of time on the terrace watching buzzards circling or wrens in the hedge. The ideal getaway for walking or just getting away from it all. I've already recommended it to two friends and intend to come back myself.

Very cosy

A very cosy and comfortable converted barn, with heated floor throughout, clean bathroom and shower, lovely quite area, the owners are friendly and polite, the only negative I can give is that you can easily get lost at night if you are going out, as there are no road lights and even with TomTom can be a struggle, so unlike me, if you have a good sense of direction you will be fine
