About Christine Pert

Christine Pert. Architect.

Lives across the courtyard in the steading, with husband and two girls age 18 and 14. We have lived at the steading for eleven years and keep improving the buildings and courtyard garden. Hugo the family Springer spaniel , loves nothing more than a walk on any beach, which we often have to ourselves!

We have stayed in lots of holiday cottages in the past and have tried to incorporate all the best bits into Brankies Cottage.

Why Christine Pert chose Moray

Lovely location surrounded by fields and within walking distance of the sea.

What makes this barn unique

Within five minutes drive of Cullen on one side and Portsoy in the other. The area has lots to offer but lies off most tourist routes so visitors can enjoy piece and quite if they wish it or you can head off to Elgin, Inverness or Aberdeen and still visit castles and distilleries.

Fabulous cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Cottage was perfect - very clean and had everything and more than we expected. It was very well laid out and spacious and felt like a real home from home. The patio was bathed in sunshine most evenings and one evening when the weather was no so nice, the log burner was a real treat. We had good communication with the owner who was very helpful and we knew if we needed anything, we only had to ask. We would definitely recommend this cottage to friends. We visited the beach at Sandend on a daily basis and were lucky enough to spot dolphins on two occasions. I enjoyed walking to Sandend and along the coastal path to Findlater Castle and also down to the lovely Sunnyside beach - all within easy reach of the cottage. We had a good afternoon at the Gordon Castle walled garden, enjoyed watching seals on the west beach at Lossiemouth and visited the Spey Bay dolphin centre. We drove round quite a bit of the stunning coast in the area and visited lots of the little villages with pretty harbours. We had very tasty fish and chips from 'Hook Line & Sinker' in Portsoy, a nice lunch at 'Bijou' in Buckie which boasts lovely views and bought fabulous fish for dinner from the fish merchant in Sandend who are open in the mornings. We really did have a great holiday.

We had a great time at the cottage. It is just beautiful and Chris is a real good host. She supplied us with fresh milk, water, some cookies, fresh flowers and a lot of toys for the kids. Thank u very much for our great time me in Scotland.

You will want to come back!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of three had a marvellous time staying in this beautifully decorated and spacious cottage. The views from the cottage – and especially from the livingroom – is absolutely serene. Sandend Beach is minutes away and wonderfully peaceful. All our favourite places are within very easy drive: the Grampians, Inverness, Ballater. And then there are wonderful nearby attractions: Huntly Castle, Duff House and Delgatie Castle – which have now become favourites.

The cottage itself is not only beautiful but the wonderful attention to detail (from the boot room to Chris’ hints on where to buy ice cream to the gorgeous dolls house for our little one to play with) makes it delightfully comfortable. The open-plan kitchen and living room make for cosy evenings with lots of cooking and conversation. We love the wood burner and wet room.

Really – we can’t praise this cottage enough. We love it so much that we’ve just booked our next holiday there. I doubt we’ll stay elsewhere during our annual visits to Scotland.

Beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

A beautifully renovated conversion with stunning views and great access to lots of things to do. We were pleasantly surprised on our arrival at the space the cottage has to offer. I feared we might feel a little cooped up, but we were more than happy whiling away the mornings, relaxing in the spacious living area and taking our time to get ready to leave for the days adventures. Beautuiful sandy beach very close by, lovely owner and thoughtful touches such as children's toys and age appropriate bedding.

Lovely, cosy cottage in a great spot. Short walk to Sandend beach & a little longer to Sunnyside but well worth it. Kept 2 Labradors very happy for a week. The cottage is very well equipped & provides a lovely relaxing ambience when you return for a days walking. Couldn't recommend this cottage enough. Thank you to Chris for making our stay the relaxing break we needed.

A warm and spacious retreat

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for a long weekend in December and had a wonderful time. The weather was cold but the cottage lovely and warm with underfloor heating that made the entire place feel cosy, despite the fact that the very spacious rooms are light and airy.

The owner is very helpful and made sure that our stay went without a hitch.

The house is surrounded by great walks along the coast and there is a lovely beach nearby that had a few surfers braving the december waves. Next time - we might give that a try.
