About the Owner

our names are sue and peter we are English and have lived in France for seven years we are semi retired and we have renovated our fermette to what we think is a very comfortable holiday home, we spent our first few summers working on camp sites in France looking after mobile homes for an English holiday company, we think this helped us gain invaluable experience looking after our customers and making sure they have a lovely holiday.we are very keen gardeners and have planted our garden in the English cottage garden style with many flower beds and pots of flowers. We have a great deal of knowledge of the area so we are able to guide our customers so they can make the best of their holiday, and are only to pleased to be on hand with advice.

Wonderful in every way

We had the most wonderfully relaxing time at your fabulous fermette. Fully equipped with everything we needed and more! Spotlessly clean too.

Would recommend this house to anyone who needs some peace and quiet as it really is the most restful place I think I've ever visited.

Wonderful Peaceful Location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Sue & Pete's gite. It is very cosy, spacious and superbly equipped. The pool is an excellent addition and in it's nature very safe for young children. The photos do not do the property justice at all. The town of Bort Les Orgues is 10 minute drive away and offers many amenities, supermarket etc. We enjoyed a couple of visits to Chateau De Val set on the large lake with water based activities, about 15 minutes drive. Sue & Pete are lovely accommodating hosts and very informative on the local area. We would have no hesitation recommending this holiday and hope to return ourselves one day. Many thanks!

A wonderful retreat

  • 5 of 5

We feel so fortunate to have stayed in this accommodation for our summer holiday. Sue and Peter offer a spectacular house with an idyllic garden which was such a get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The house is beautiful and has absolutely everything you could ask for. We have, in the past, avoided rentals which are attached to the owners but we are so glad we made an exception this year. Despite being next door, Sue and Peter are unobtrusive and you really feel like you have a lot of privacy. Having said this, they are also incredibly helpful if you need recommendations or local knowledge. We stayed in the property with our two young children who also had a brilliant holiday. They loved exploring the garden and playing at neuvic lake. If you love beautiful scenery, peace and quiet and top notch accommodation then you'll love this place!

Lovely Holiday Home!

  • 5 of 5

This is a truly stunning holiday home set in beautiful gardens with a great sized pool which our children absolutely loved. The owners (who are extremely friendly and knowledgeable) have thought of everything and it really is a home from home. Whilst a car is a necessity, there is so much to see and do in the area. We loved visiting Turenne, Collonges la Rouge, Meymac and Salers. The dam at Bort les Orgues is also a sight to see. There are some amazing views which are a must - one at Bort les Orgues and also at Saint Nazaire which is nearby. A lovely beach and lake at Chateau de Val and a great outdoor swimming pool at Les Aubazines. Equally if you just want to relax, the gardens are extremely peaceful with great outdoor dining areas. Also loved looking at the sky at night as no light pollution whatsoever. We had an absolutely fantastic family holiday and would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful holiday home.

What a Find!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to this property - a wonderful fermette in a beautiful & very peaceful location. The property is spacious & is beautifully decorated and very well equipped. The garden (with pool) is very pretty & a great place to relax, following a hard day's sightseeing! There is no shortage of things to do & see in the vicinity - volcanoes, lakes (with/without water activities), chateaux, des plus beaux villages, markets, walks ....... a car is essential. The property owners are friendly & helpful and are knowledgeable about the area. We highly recommend it!

Delightful property!

  • 5 of 5

This property in Bessoles is an absolute delight! The description on the website, while accurate, didn't do it justice. The property and the garden are beautiful and immaculately kept by the owners. Everything you could wish for. Our teenage sons made good use of the garden's splash pool when the weather was at its best.

Sue and Peter are very helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. You have the advantage of them being close by, should you need them.

There are many stunning attractions to visit in the surrounding area. We particularly enjoyed our visit to Chateau du Val, Meymac and Neuvic.

A good restaurant/bar 5 minutes drive from the house but other than that all we can offer is peace and quiet. Bort Les Orgues is situated on a lovely site in the Dordogne Valley, is known for its huge dam and for the cliffs looming above it. On the shores of the lake is the Chateau De Val which has year round exhibitions and open air concerts in the summer. Nearby is a treetop adventure playground graded for all ages,a sandy beach area with water sports inflatables canoes and swimming. There is a very good local product and flower market on Saturday mornings.

The village of Neuvic boasts a large beautiful lake which, during the summer, is home to a variety of water-sports including sailing, water-skiing and fishing. The town offers a small supermarket and a variety of shops as well as two nine hole golf courses, horse-riding facilities and three excellent restaurants, two which are located on the edge of the lake. There is adequate shopping in Neuvic and Ussel is twenty minutes by car for larger shops and several supermarkets. Local Produce and delicacies
