About the property

House in Newport, Pembrokeshire, Wales - Peaceful Location, 2 Minutes Walk To The Beach

There are five bedrooms. Three double bedrooms, two with en-suite facilities. One further bedroom with a partition divider and two single beds with trundles in either section. Finally a kids bunk bed room with trundle. The well appointed kitchen has an adjoining dining area, with the conservatory also being used for entertaining. Although centrally heated there is a wonderful Aga to add to the warmth, as well as a wood burning stove for the winter. For the summer, French doors lead from the conservatory to a large private garden with an eating/barbecue area. Additional amenities include TV, WiFi as well as a couple of Kayaks for use by the guests. Ideally set up for 6 adults and 6 children, it is the perfect family holiday home at any time of the year.

About Jeni Paul

My name is Jeni and this is our family holiday home where we have spent many a happy time! We have been visiting family in the Newport area for many years and even got married in St Mary's church in 2000! We now have our dream home and we hope you love it too.

Jeni Paul purchased this house in 2011

Why Jeni Paul chose Fishguard, Newport, The Preseli Hills & Bluestone

The area has many happy memories for us and is so unspoilt and away from the crowds. For family holidays you would be hard pushed to find better!

What makes this house unique

Our house is often described as a 'home away from home' and we have strived to make it as welcoming and relaxing as possible.

We have views to Carningli Mountain on one side and on the other the coastal path through the gate at the end of the garden and then the sea, not sure it could get any better!

Breathe in the fresh sea air and take in the views, all good for the soul!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time in your beautiful house - what a lovely setting. This was a rather special holiday for us as we had all the family together to celebrate my birthday.

We forgot to write in the visitors book, but will happily write a testimonial for the website if you would like one. The house is very well equipped and the furniture is comfortable, especially the memory foam mattresses. We hope to return one day.

Fantastic Holiday House for all the family

  • 5 of 5

This was a fabulous house in a superb location. The large garden backs on to the Coastal Path which is right by the beach. The house was well appointed with clean superb bedrooms. There was plenty of room downstairs but we spent most of the evenings in the conservatory with the wonderful views.

We were six adults with four children ranging from 14 months to 12 years. The older children were very keen on the table tennis and the table football and so were the adults!

We had the use of the sea kayaks which was a great bonus and some of the boys made an expedition across the bay to the sandy beach whilst the rest of us travelled by car.

Newport is a very attractive village and some of the views are exceptional.

I think we may want to come again!

Something for all the family

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a week in Maes y Brenin. The description on the owners' website did not disappoint - I can see why they describe it as their dream holiday home. It would be mine too.

The house is light and spacious enough for an extended family group or a large group of friends. There are plenty of seating areas and we never felt we were on top of one another. There is something to suit all age groups - we had 3 children aged 3 and under with us, so stayed fairly close to our base. The large enclosed garden is great for little ones to run about in and wear themselves out. There are 2 ponds but these were not a problem to us as the children were too young to be left unsupervised at any time. With slightly older children one would have to be perhaps more vigilant than usual.

The coastal path is the other side of the garden gate and the beach is quite literally just yards from the path. Great fun to be had with inflatable craft and with the two kayaks belonging to the property. Great scope for rock pooling and just generally messing about.

We found the owners very straightforward and helpful regarding any queries we had and have no hesitation at all in recommending Maes y Brenin as a place for a holiday that can be as active or as relaxing as you choose. The view from the house out over Cardigan Bay and the Nevern estuary is superb.

Some of our favourite things in the area:- the coastal path walk around Dinas Head, lunch at the Old Sailors in Pwllgwaelod and at the Golden Lion in Newport, dinner at Cnapan in Newport.

A few minutes walk, across the water at high tide to Newport Sands beach.

Airport: Cardiff 150km. Railway: Haverfordwest 25km. Ferry: Fishguard 15km.

Newport Town 1km, St David's 30km.

Further Details:

The small town of Newport has a wide variety of pubs, restaurants (the locally caught seafood is a must) and shops, all within walking distance from the property. There are numerous art galleries, craft shops, book shops and an antique shop. There are many sports facilities including an excellent golf course, tennis courts, sports field, bicycle rental, horse stables and tours, and a boat club. Historic sites are all around us, but we would highly recommend touring the local standing stones, churches, castles and the Iron Age fort.
