House in Malborough, South Hams, England, UK - A Haven Of Peace And Tranquility With Easy Access To Shops And 15' Walk To The Beach

West Cliff House has a south west facing position and a unique location with views looking out to a rugged headland, rolling landscapes and the open sea. It sleeps 8 comfortably but we are happy to price on a per person basis for smaller parties. The large Kitchen Dining room with open fireplace is the heart of the house. The well stocked garden is enclosed and we welcome dogs. The South Devon coast path is on the doorstep offering superb coastal walks. The beach at Soar Mill cove lies immediately below the house, accessed by a footpath from the garden gate. A 15' walk takes you to the lively village of Malborough whilst the major sailing resort of Salcombe is 3 miles away and the larger town of Kingsbridge is only 5 miles.

As well as lawned areas, there are paved terraces and decking that make attractive and secluded sitting out spaces. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Hand towels and bed linen are supplied but not bath or beach towels.

Relaxing stay

We had a fantastic relaxing stay. Plenty of room, lovely garden, quiet location, easy access to footpaths and a quick journey to Kingsbridge for provisions. The best equipped kitchen we've every used, plenty of big pots and lots of plates etc for a large group, and a bread maker too. We made a last minute booking and everything ran smoothly. Would stay again with family or friends.

My wife and I bought West Cliff House in 2008. We have 3 children and a dog. We knew it would become a home that we and the dog would enjoy for many years. It now has all that we wanted, yet so rarely found, in the many houses that we have rented for family holidays over the years.

Why Ian Stockley chose Kingsbridge

We had been taking holidays in the South Hams for a number of years, due to its unspoilt beauty and numerous activities for all the family. However, it was the unique position of the house that was the determining factor for our purchase.

West Cliff has a unique south west facing position with windows that allow the sun to flood into the house. It sits above the beautiful beach of Soar Mill Cove with a track leading down to the beach from the garden gate. It is a haven of peace and tranquility yet within easy access of shops and civilisation.

What makes this unique

Total peace and relaxation as required but with numerous activities within easy reach of the house for those that want them. An endless variety of walks; the choice of many stunning local beaches; the sheltered waters of the Salcome estuary on which to improve our sailing; golf and tennis courts very close by; shops and restaurants aplenty in Salcombe and Kingsbridge and for the occasional wet day the cinema and leisure centre is only 10' by car. However,we do find that South Hams does have its own micro climate!



There are numerous beaches in the area, some walkable and others a short car journey. Soar Mill and Hope Cove are both walkable. Other nearby beaches include Bantham, Bigbury, North and South Sands, Sunny Cove and Mill Bay.


The house is 18 miles from Totnes station.


The market town of Kingsbridge is capital of the South Hams It continues to develop whilst maintaining an old world charm. It has a leisure centre with swimming pool, squash, badminton and bowls as well as a cinema. Marlborough village offers provisions and a choice of good pub food whilst Salcombe is 3 miles away.

Booking Notes:
We require a deposit of 25% of the total rental payable at the time of the booking and the balance of the rent no later than 6 weeks before the start of the tenancy. A damages and breakages deposit of £250 is required with the balance of the rental

Changeover Day:
Preferred changeover date is Saturday with arrival time after 4pm and departure time 10am. We can be flexible on this.

Notes on prices:
We are always happy to consider price per person for smaller parties. This will be subject to a minimum price, dependent on the season and the proximity of the booking to the requested rental period. We also offer short breaks out of the high season.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
