Twelve years ago Dalyan was a small fishing village, and came to prominence when an international campaign was launched to protect the endangered Caretta Caretta Turtles which lay their eggs on Iztuzu Beach. Set along a beautiful river, Dalyan is established in an environmentally protected area, which is a region of outstanding natural beauty. Villa Samimi is a lovely 3 bed villa 10 minutes walk from Migros supermarket. The villa has its own beautiful garden area with shaded "cardak". Two of the bedrooms have their own balcony while the other room is a large attic room. Peaceful location with views towards the mountains at the rear of the property and over the cotton fields and pool area to the front of the property. Samimi shares a fantastic 50 metre pool and has its own "pod" with steps leading into the pool. Great for cooling off in the summer months. The pool is open from May to October. Dondu looks after the villa for us and can arrange any trips you may wish to do.
We live in Edinburgh and while Dot works as a PA in the centre of town, Iain runs a 5 bed guesthouse opposite Edinburgh Zoo - which is also our home.
Dot Scott or Iain Macnab purchased this villa in 2002
We visited Dalyan for the first time in 2002 and after looking at a variety of different houses we bought Villa Samimi off-plan. Our villa was completed in 2003. Even though it was our first time visiting Dalyan, we knew straight away that this was ideal for our "place in the sun". There is something about Dalyan that draws people back time and time again. Part of that is the people. Most of our guests have stayed at the villa on numerous occasions and treat the place like home.
Dalyan has changed over the years but still has a feel of the real Turkey rather than a large tourist resort. You are made to feel extremely welcome. Food is good, people are great - what more could you want!
Villa Samimi is perfect for those not wishing to stay right in the centre of town. It's within easy walking distance of the centre, with access to all the amenities e.g. river boats, Dolmus, shops, restaurants. Even though we share the area with 3 other villas, you are never overlooked and sometimes don't even realise there are people next door.
We are very lucky to have a fantastic 50 metre swimming pool which is great for the keen swimmers in the family as it has a two lane swim area with each villa having its own private pod with steps leading into the pool.
We are not overlooked by anyone and there is no through road beside us. A great location for those requiring a little tranquility but still walking distance to the centre of town.
Our nearest large supermarket is Migros.

“We’ve had a very relaxing holiday. Loved the villa and the surrounding scenery. On arrival at the villa, Dondu was here to welcome us and she called regularly to make sure everything was ok. She is extremely pleasant and helpful. All in all this has been one of our best holidays. We love Dalyan and although this is our first trip, it certainly won’t be our last.

“We have had the most fantastic holiday and will definitely be revisiting Dalyan in the future. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Dondu was an excellent help to us and was always there when needed. We are back to the real world now. Unfortunately!! Thanks again.”
– The Toner Family
“We all enjoyed ourselves and I will definitely recommend the villa to all my friends, Paul said it was the first time for ages he could have stayed on holiday another couple of weeks quite happily. So thank you.”

We visited in early April so it's fair to say we had a different experience to those of you who'll go in the Summer. Villa Samimi is located about 10-12 minutes walk from the centre of Dalyan. That was perfect for us - close enough for an easy stroll but remote enough that we didn't have any noise from the town (not that there's much anyway). Being so early in the year, we said that there was no point cleaning the pool as we weren't going to be using it anyway - it does look good though!
Inside, you've got everything you'll need for a vacation: Bear in mind that the second bedroom with twin beds is very small - just about enough room to get between the beds, The loft access is very steep as well - it would be fine for teenagers or younger adults but not young children. The kitchen, showers and living room are all fine though. Dining table and chairs are outside which is fine if the weather is warm but we had a couple of cold days and ended up eating on our laps indoors. The downstairs was chilly in the evening but I suspect the cool will be a blessing in the summer. Again, these are things that we found in April and won't be a problem later in the season.
The owners are very helpful and responsive to questions and there's a lovely lady who lives 2 minutes away from the Villa who does her best to ensure you have a perfect stay.
We'd stay again later in the year but would look for somewhere with some heating if we were going in the Spring.
Villa Samimi is a lovely place with a fantastic pool and beautiful gardens. Sun or shade throughout the day whichever you prefer. The pool is right outside the door so perfect for a quick dip or a lengthy swim. We found it to be peaceful and relaxing. A leisurely (and level)15 minute stroll into Dalyan brings you to plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. So the villa is perfectly situated!! A fantastic local Turkish lady who speaks perfect English is on hand to give help and advice should you need it.
Coast/Beach:
Our nearest beach is Iztuzu Beach, which is 10km from Dalyan. Iztuzu also has a Turtle Rescue Centre which is definitely worth a visit. We usually get the local Dolmus down to the beach, walk along the 7km stretch and catch Dalyan river boat back to the Centre. Morning is the best time, as it can get quite windy in the afternoon. There is a small cafe at both ends and changing facilities/toilets.
Travel:
Dalaman airport is approximately 25 minutes by taxi from Villa Samimi. We can arrange taxi pick-ups to and from the airport if required. Car hire is available throughout Dalyan and if you want to explore other areas such as Kalkan, Kas then this can be done. First timers in Dalyan will find plenty to do and no car is required. Bicycles can be hired in town - great way to get around as Dalyan is very flat.
UK flights take around 4 hrs 30. Easyjet/FlyThomasCook from regional airports.

Further Details:
There are many family-friendly restaurants in a wide variety of beautiful settings with a range of different cuisines. This is a unique destination full of culture, charm, history and contrasting beauty. Once you have experienced the warm hospitality of the area, you’ll want to go back again and again. One of the biggest supermarkets is 10 minutes walk from the property. Lots of ATM machines around the centre of Dalyan for withdrawing cash. There is also a Post Office (PTT) which normally has the best rate of exchange. The local Saturday Market is a fun for a wander round and a chance to haggle with the locals for the best prices. You can buy fake designer goods including shoes, watches, handbags etc. There is also a great selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, local spices and traditional Turkish goods such as tea and, of course, a numerous selection of Turkish Delights. There are many things to do and see in the area surrounding Dalyan. Take a small boat over to the ancient city of Caunos with its amphitheatre and watch the sunset; visit the mud baths and thermal springs reputed to cure all ills and go home looking 10 years younger! Nearby you can also find Tlos, an ancient roman site with Lycian rock caves; Saklikent Gorge, a natural marvel to walk through; the beautiful bays of Asi and Ekincik bay, which are perfect for snorkelling. Excursions can be organised from the villas: boat trips, snorkelling, bird-watching, horse riding, overnight trips to the world famous archaeological site at Ephesus and the petrified water cascades at Pamukkale. Our favourite trip is to Yuverlak Cay. There is now a daily bus service which takes you there. Even better to visit if you are holidaying in July or August. Cool mountain water to swim in, perfect setting for lunch of fresh fish cooked in a claypot or Lamb Tandir which melts in your mouth.
