The Horizon Apartments are situated in ‘Mellieha Heights’, one of Mellieha's soaring ridges, approximately 10 minutes walk from the centre of Mellieha. This allows The Horizon Apartments to give its residents a peaceful environment and wonderful sea views.

The apartments come with their own private balcony,with unique view of Santa Maria's villas and the sea. The East facing apartments have views of the majestic Mediterranean sea and Valley views. The Horizon’s private pool at roof top level with its sun deck terrace allows one to enjoy all the stunning scenery.

The apartments are managed by a team of family members that provide full satisfaction and relaxation for its residents.

Each apartment consists of an open plan fully fitted kitchen with all appliances such as 4 ring hob, oven and grill, toaster, electric kettle. All pots and pans are provided with necessary crockery, cutlery, a variety of serving dishes and glasses. Each unit is equipped with its own washing machine, iron and board and a laundry hanger/drier.

A round dining table and 4 chairs are placed in the kitchen/living area in front of the patio doors which lead to a balcony where there is a table and chairs for spectacular sunrise breakfasts or chilling out with a favourite glass of wine at sunset. A comfortable sofa and coffee table in the living area are a good place to watch TV, catch up on a bit of reading or surf the internet. All apartments have wifi.

Great Apartment with a Great View in quiet residential neighborhood

Mellieha was the perfect spot for a relaxing birthday getaway. David made it even better with his beautiful apartment and rooftop terrace with pool. When we arrived there was a mix up with the booking payment and even though it was never confirmed David found us walking on the street towards the place and met us there anyway. He even took us to the grocery store after we dropped our bags off. The apartment itself was big and open with a full kitchen containing everything you would need for a 10-day stay. He even had Tupperware which we used to pack lunches for the beach. The apartment was 10min walk away from the bus stop that took us to the beach and back to St.Julian's when we wanted to party. The rooftop terrace was the best thing about the apartment. It overlooked Mellieha Bay on one of the highest peaks on that side of the island. We sat up there for hours drinking wine and taking in the view. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a peaceful relaxing stay away from the loud parties of Paceville but close to nice beaches and the ferry to Gozo/Comino Island.

good location and views

Very pleased with the accommodation apart from there only being 1 sheet on the bed which did not fit well and no cover on the mattress, the bed itself was comfortable and king sized

Spent 4 weeks at the apartments. This was our third stay at the Horizon Apartments and as always found them to be excellent. All are fully equipped, clean and very convenient to Mellieha and transportation. David is the most charming and affable host one could wish for. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he makes everyone so welcome. We will continue to stay at the apartments whenever we visit our favourite holiday destination Malta.

Excellent; part 1 of review

There is as I have found a character limit for these reviews. I wrote a long review, pasted it, and found it truncated. I tried to contact Homeaway just to let them know, but it's impractical; their help pages make contacting them onerous.

I am then posting this review in a number of parts.

Part 1

I moved to my apartment in The Horizon Apartments in early January. I stayed for two months in total.

I chose the apartment because the price was good and the interior looked pleasant; decorated by someone with classic tastes who knows who to make a home comfortable to be in.

Mr. Bonanno, the owner, was clear and communicative through email and the booking was easily and effortless.

I will dive ahead a bit here and write of him first; to wit, although I may be wrong, I am of the view that he is an absolutely solid, reliable, trustworthy, honourable and straightforward man. I am fully of the view he will not try to pull one over on you; if he offers you a price, whether or not you know it to be right, he's giving you a proper price, not taking advantage. You can put yourself safely in his hands.

This to me is one the vital factors in making a booking; the other is the quality and pleasentness of the place itself.

I arrived at the airport, with a taxi as arranged waiting for me - Mr. Bonanno in fact has a couple of businesses on the island, and the taxi was driven by one of his uncles. The price was good (I took other taxis during my stay); it wasn't an unwelcome bundled extra.

If you know what you're doing, you can take the bus from the airport to a stop which is abut 800m from the apartment, and although it's 800m, it's downhill all the way. However, you would probably not want to do this, with your luggage, if it was the first time you were ever doing this. The bus would cost about three euro, the taxi is about thirty (for a 45 minute or so journey - it's longer than you'd think).

The apartment building is three (if I recall correctly) stories and a semi-underground carpark for maybe five or six cars. There's also plenty of curb-side parking, although I have no idea if permits are required.

There is a swimming pool on the roof, but it is open only during the summer months, so I never saw it in use. The roof has an excellent view, and I think some deckchairs and so on - but it was the winter months, and cooler, and so I only went up there once or twice, and so I can't really remember now.

Fantastic apartment

Outstanding 1 bedroomed apartment in a residential quiet area day and night with great views over the rest of the Santa Maria estate and Mellieha bay. Everything that was described on the advert was correct, clean property and well maintained (the only issue we had was how to work the touch operated oven hob as English was the only language the instructions didn’t come in but we managed it eventually). David (manager) was brilliant and was always available if needed (we didn't) as he was contactable by phone and email or at the apartment block on nearly a daily basis. Supermarket, other shops and bus stop a 10 minute walk away with the bars and restaurants of Mellieha 15 minutes. Approximately a 15-20 minute walk to the beach in Mellieha bay. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone and would return if coming back to Mellieha.

Mellieha - is truly a destination for all seasons!

Mellieha is one of Malta's most picturesque tourist destinations. The town centre boasts of its splendid hotels, fine restaurants and traditional cute shops. It has a majestic baroque church (built in late 19th century) and various cultural organizations, including band clubs, sports clubs, an orchestra, various religious societies, a parish community centre and an environmental pressure group.

Other than the mentioned sites, Mellieha is also known for its wonderful and golden beaches that make it a unique holiday destination for many. Water Sports are one of the many activities that one can enjoy during their time here, along with Scuba Diving and Fishing. At night, walks on the beach is traditional and festivals organized by the Local Council are sure to be of enjoyment for everyone.

In Malta, feasts are a huge tradition and Mellieha's main festive season occurs in the first two weeks of September.

Other Activities: clubbing and live entertainment, quad bike

Ski: MELLIEHA is surrounded by numerous bays as Mellieha Bay also known as GHADIRA (sounds like aedyrae) is the islands longest sandy beach. there is a numerous water sports outlets operating from the shoreline. They offer a variety of activities and services inwatersports for everyones pleasure. this beach nearly reached a BLUE Flag status and the local council is realy working hard to obtain tis certification. A really family beach with plenty of facilities. Very easily accessable buy bus or on foot going down the hill.; 1.5 kms from the village centre!

ARMIER and LITTLE ARMIER are an other two small beaches situated in the Marfa Ridge facing Comino and Gozo. Less popular but nice and fairly busy in peak season like any other beach specially on week ends. More accessable by car. Save place for children.

PARADISE BAY a small and clean beach not suitable for the elderly or the infirm as a fairly awkward access to reach the beach. Recommended to the young at heart! A natural GEM
