About the Owner

My family are originally from Northumberland and whilst visiting my mother, we came across our delightful house.

With my husband and myself both leading busy lives, we find walking the beaches during the day and then settling in front of our log burner with a glass of wine the perfect way to relax.

Our grown up chidren also enjoy a weekend break at the house with their partners; although they tend to go into Newcastle upon tyne for lively bars, posh restaurants and the theatre, as it is only a 25 minute drive away.

Best holiday home we ever had

The Beaches is a wonderful home and perfect for a stay in Newbiggin. It is bright and wonderfully decorated. The view from the bay window was a special treat, and to wake up in the mornings to blue skies and a wonderful view of the beach was really something. Everything was perfect, Anne and her husband waited up for us because we were delayed upon arrival - thanks again for that. They really went out of their way to make us welcome, as did Patsy, the owner. Everything went as smooth as could be. We will definitely be back again. And again!

This property is stunning. The photographs do not do it justice we found everything we needed in this house from the welcome cake and tea to the fluffy towels in the bathroom. The view is amazing and so relaxing which is a bonus when you have travelled from a busy town to just sit and take in the view. Newbiggin, and i am biased as I was born here, is a great place to use as a base for travelling in Northumberland, it has everything you need from the local co-op to the fish and chip shop, public houses, Italian and Indian restaurants, coffee shop and also the maritime centre to sit and pass time with a view and a coffee. Strolling along the prom is my favourite pastime. Hope to return very soon. Thank you.

Lovely Holiday

No photo's could do the view from the property, justice. I spent many hours, just sitting and watching the beach, tide and boats going by. The house is absolutely lovely and I can't think of anything I needed or wanted that wasn't provided. The promenade and beach are safe and weren't busy at all. The small town has everything you need and we haven't had the car out at all. You could visit the surrounding area's, but we just chose to enjoy the walks and beach we had here. Can't fault it and have already booked to come back.

Good Stay

First let me say the house is in an amazing position directly in front of the sea and a short walk down on to it. Bedrooms all great and the kitchen well equipped. Although and I know this is being picky; they should supply better towels (size wise), probably more than 2 toilet rolls (there was 4 adults and 1 child the toilet roll ended quite quickly) and you have to leave by 1030am - which for me is just too early and makes the end of a break rather rushed - the log burners a nice touch though! Newbiggin itself is a rather dilapidated place, not a picturesque village that I had in mind and had looked at on the Internet. Alnwick and Warkworth are beautiful and only 30-40mins away but Holy Island is an hours drive.

All in all nice house just in the wrong part of Northumberland for us.

Wonderful break

The house was fantastic for our family (2 adults, 4 yr old and 18mth old) - the views were lovely and my son really enjoyed the promenade, as did we, with him being able to cycle safely up and down. Although we explored the sights around we also found Newbiggin rather charming. All in all an excellent stay and we really hope to stay again. Communication with the owner was also very good.

Xmas at 'Beaches'

We spent five nights at Beaches last Xmas and have booked to go again for Xmas 2015. We knew the area before we arrived as we have relatives who live close by - however having the sea view from the lounge and two of the bedrooms was fantastic, we were just happy to sit and admire the view for hours on end. The property was clean and well maintained and provided everything that we needed including a well decorated Xmas tree which was lovely. The owners were friendly and helpful, all arrangements were simple and convenient. We are looking forward to our return in a few months!

We bought the house because of its perfect seafront position. It has direct access to the beach. It offers wonderful coastal walks.

Activity and Interests


Direct access to sandy beach, boat launch 600 yards with local fishing boats.


Newcastle airport 15 mins. Train station 10 mins by local taxi.


Newbiggin heritage centre is 800yds. Warkworth castle is 12 miles . Morpeth town and gardens 8 miles. Woodhorn colliery and church 2 miles.

Further Details:

A car is essential for enjoying the Northumberland coastal route and its many lovely restaurants which tend to be located near your chosen destination for the day. Local spa shop, cash point and village shop within 5 minute walk. ASDA hypermarket 2 mile.

    All bookings are confirmed by payments made through bank transfer. 20% non refundable deposit. Full payment 12 weeks prior to arrival.

    Changeover Day:
    Saturday for peak school holidays but Fridays for weekend breaks at low season, but please call and ask.

    10% discount given if only 2 persons staying.

The large farmhouse table is ideal for dinner parties with room enough for friends and family; whilst enjoying a sea breeze and stunning views on a summer night. Sea fishing from the beach is an early morning treat and the dogs are allowed on the beach from Sept until April but children can go any time !
