About Eamonn Madden

We live on the East Coast of Ireland with our 2 children. We have another house in SeanMara which we stay in on a regular basis. We bought No. 4 because we fell in love with the area with its views, fantastic walks and many attractions and wanted to share them with our family and friends. Now we would like you to take advantage of this opportunity to holiday in this unique setting.

Eamonn Madden purchased this house in 2009

Why Eamonn Madden chose County Clare

We bought this house because of its location, location and location! It has amazing sea views to the back of the house and the magnificant Burren to the front. It is a short distance to the Kinvara/Ballyvaughan road but there is no interferance from traffic. The village of Ballyvaughan is close by with a great selection of restaurants and little shops. Galway City is less than an hours drive for a change of pace with all that a modern city offers. The sea is literally on the doorstep and the sount of the sea and birdlife is truely relaxing.

What makes this house unique

The house is a really comfortable with an open fire in the living area. There is a lovely patio garden with picnic table to the back overlooking the sea for dining alfresco. Parking is plentiful and the area is quite and peaceful.

SENSATIONAL! Beautiful home on the Bay of Galway. Excellent for families. Breathtaking backdrop!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! My son captured it best: "it's hard not to fall in love with this place when you have the Bay of Galway in your backyard and the ruins of a castle just outside your door." The backdrop of the Burren was extraordinary!

My husband and I stayed here with our 4 children (2 adult children, 2 teens) and there was plenty of room for our family. The photos do not do this home justice, we were surprised by the actual size of the home not to mention how well it was maintained. There are 3 good sized bedrooms and 2 large bathrooms. The home is very comfortable and well equipped. So peaceful to be situated right there on the bay. Loved winding down at the end of a full day with a fire roaring the fireplace....it was heavenly!

Loved that the home was only 35-40 minutes away from the Cliffs of Moher and less than an hour away from Galway. The convenient drive to the Cliffs was a great advantage — the first time we drove to the cliffs the fog was so heavy that we couldn't see 20 feet in front of us, by the time we got to the pay station, the attendant advised that we turn around, and try again on a different day. The heavy fog hung around for a few more days but thankfully, on our last day, the fog lifted and we were able to rush back to the cliffs and experience this breathtaking site! Had we not been so close to the cliffs we likely would have missed this incredible opportunity. TIP: call the Cliffs of Moher before you make the drive, the visitor center is very helpful and will tell you about weather conditions before you head down.

Another fun place to visit, about 10 minutes from the house are the Ailwee Caves, be sure to pay the extra money for the guided tour, it was fascinating. Our visit to the caves was almost as delightful as our regular visits to the pubs in the charming town of Ballyvaughan.

The reservation process itself for this home was VERY, VERY easy! It was a pleasantly painless process.

Net-net: We had an absolutely delightful stay! Beautiful home for so many reasons! STAY HERE! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

A million thanks Hillary!

Wonderful stay with beautiful sunsets!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful spot right on the bay. Very comfortable home with your very own castle right next door. Loved exploring the Burren and spent 3 days on the Cliffs of Moher. One from the ferry and two days on the top. Thousands of birds nesting. Takes your breath away so beautiful. Went out to the Aran Islands and enjoyed taking the horse and buggy around to all the highlights. Wi-fi came in great. All the comforts of home. Would definitely come back again!

Oh Wow!!

  • 5 of 5

"Oh wow!", "And..., relax!" - those were our first thoughts as we walked out to that View! We have just arrived back from a much needed rest and this holiday home far exceeded our expectations. After a week there we didn't want to leave and I actually felt a little emotional when we did leave. We were a group of three adults and two children and the house and its environs were perfect for us. The kids had the freedom to explore, to beachcomb and to fish in a safe and tranquil setting.. There are lots of things to do in the Burren to interest all ages. We visited Ailwee Cave and Bird of Prey Centre, Poulnabrone Dolmen, we explored the Flaggy Shore, we saw dolphins on the trip from Kilrush Marina and we booked tea at Father Ted's. But most of all we just enjoyed the house, its views and sunsets and exploring our little coastline. Thank you Hilary and Eamonn, your house was just what the doctor ordered.

Perfect to relax and explore

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a week end of may. We are family from Germany with two young children 10 and 8 years.

He house is in a wonderful location on the Galway bay in front and the burden right behind. All the trips to the Burren sightseeing locations are no long drive.

Ballyvaughan is a 2min drive and has great pubs we liked.

The house has a exceptional view over the bay. We liked to stroll along the bay at low tide and collect shells. You could start right below the terrace.

There is a lovely fireplace witch is nice in the evening sitting by an watching over the water.

For a family traveling by plane the kitchen is missing a view things. (towels, soap, spices etc) everything has to be bought. (and left there or thrown away cause it isn't easy take it back with you). if you travel by car this should be no issue.

Also we missed wifi (we gladly could use the neighbors), for planing the next days trips it is quite helpful. But the owner reported that she is working on it.

There was no personal contact to the owner. For us this is ok. For people who like to have a short chat and personal contact it is worth to mention. The booking process and the service with bed linen and towels was really good.

Assuming that the wifi is done next year, i and especially the kids really like to come back.

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a short break (3 nights) and wished we'd been able to stay longer. The house itself is very comfortable, well-equipped and well maintained. The views are absolutely amazing, it was fantastic being able to sit on the patio watching the sun set over the water while listening to the various types of water fowl.

Seanmara is situated in a great area too, within the magical landscape of the Burren and the West coast. Kinvara is worth a visit and so too are attractions such as Doolin Cave and the Perfumery. This whole area is so beautiful, and Seanmara is an excellent place to stay to see it all.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your review. We keep a close eye on the house to ensure it is maintained to a high standard. It is a very special location with the views constantly changing with the tide. It is a great base for touring the west coast and the "Wild Atlantic Way". Please keep us in mind if you are back in the area again. Hilary and Eamonn
