About Eamonn Madden

We live on the East Coast of Ireland with our 2 children. We have another house in SeanMara which we stay in on a regular basis. We bought No. 4 because we fell in love with the area with its views, fantastic walks and many attractions and wanted to share them with our family and friends. Now we would like you to take advantage of this opportunity to holiday in this unique setting.

Why Eamonn Madden chose County Clare

We bought this house because of its location, location and location!It has amazing sea views to the back of the house and the magnificant Burren to the front. It is a short distance to the Kinvara/Ballyvaughan road but there is no interferance from traffic. The village of Ballyvaughan is close by with a great selection of restaurants and little shops. Galway City is less than an hours drive for a change of pace with all that a modern city offers. The sea is literally on the doorstep and the sount of the sea and birdlife is truely relaxing.

What makes this house unique

The house is a really comfortable with an open fire in the living area. There is a lovely patio garden with picnic table to the back overlooking the sea for dining alfresco. Parking is plentiful and the area is quite and peaceful.

Spacious living area and own back garden overlooking the bay.Spectacular sunsets and bird life as the tide ebbs and flows! Outside: The back garden consists of a Liscannor stone patio area with planted border at the sea wall. A large picnic table ensures dining alfresco is an enjoyable experience. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels are available. There is an extra supplement for linen, towels and end of stay clean. Other: Understairs storage area with ironing board, vacuum cleaner, mop and bucket.

Nice property with lovely views. Beds good, Wifi good, stuf like sugar, salt and dishwasher tablets provided. We enjoyed sun and rain. The children went crab hunting at low tide.

Loved the view of Galway Bay which was amazing The cottage was clean but a bit tired.

We particularly enjoyed the turf fire in the evenings. It would have been nice to be greeted with some milk in the fridge after the long journey. Ballyvaughen was lovely with all the amenities you need.

Great location with stunning scenery

The view is stunning! The pictures don't do it justice, it is almost surreal. We loved coming back in the evenings and building a fire. Our children loved the open space to play soccer and walk around the castle next door. It is such a beautiful area!

We struggled with the front door as the lock needs to be changed out. Even though we were told to wiggle it to get it to work, we were unsuccessful and didn't want to battle a lock as we were excited to leave/come back every day. Most of the time, we left it unlocked because we couldn't get it. Also, the upstairs bedrooms could use a deep vacuum in the corners behind the nightstands which we noticed when plugging in cell phones. But, beautiful place and the views cannot be beat! The sunsets from the property are incredible! We also felt like there was so much to do close to the property and loved the location.

Wonderful stay!

We were a group of 4 adults and a child who stayed here from June 29th to July 2nd. The property is really beautiful. The location on the bay is just perfect! Just sitting in the living room and watching the tide come in was the best part of our stay.

The house itself is as shown in the pictures. It had everything for a short stay. There were enough crockery and cutlery and other items to cook a meal. We cooked breakfast everyday before setting out. There were tea, sugar, salt, pepper, olive oil etc for our use. These are the small things that make a short stay really perfect. The dishwasher was very welcome. There was a washing machine though we did not use it. The wifi was efficient.

All the bedrooms were decent sized. The house was perfect for us in every way. Highly recommended!

Special interest holidays:

Beside the Burren and Galway Bay accessed by private road from the N67 SeanMara is an excellent location for exploring the Burren. Walking tours, painting courses, fishing area all available in the local area. The Alliwee Caves, Doolin Caves and Cliffs of Moher are close by with Galway City less than an hours drive away.

Coast/Beach:

Sean Mara is located by the sea. Bishops Quarter Beach an approved swimming beach is 2 minutes away by car. Fanore Beach which is suitable for swimming and surfing is 20 minutes drive away.

Travel:

Galway Airport is 40 minutes drive with Shannon International Airport 90 minutes drive and Dublin International Airport 3 hours drive. A car is essential to fully enjoy this location.

Distances:

Ballyvaughan Village with shops, pubs and restaurants is 3 km (5 minutes drive). Kinvara town with shopping and restaurants is 20 minutes drive and Galway City is 1 hours drive. Alliwee Caves 10 minutes drive. Cliff of Moher are 40 minutes drive with Doolin and access to the ferry to the Aran Islands 30 minutes drive.

Further Details:

Ballyvaughan village is a beautiful fishing village with a variety of restaurants. Local well stocked shops provide all the essentials. Local pubs provide traditional music nightly. A farmers market provides fresh local products on saturdays in the summer months. Kinvara town has a larger supermarket and is also a pretty harbour town with many pubs and restaurants along with a long tradition of a Friday market during the summer.
