About Eamonn Madden

We live on the East Coast of Ireland with our 2 children. We have another house in SeanMara which we stay in on a regular basis. We bought No. 4 because we fell in love with the area with its views, fantastic walks and many attractions and wanted to share them with our family and friends. Now we would like you to take advantage of this opportunity to holiday in this unique setting.

Eamonn Madden purchased this house in 2009

Why Eamonn Madden chose Clare

We bought this house because of its location, location and location!

It has amazing sea views to the back of the house and the magnificant Burren to the front. It is a short distance to the Kinvara/Ballyvaughan road but there is no interferance from traffic. The village of Ballyvaughan is close by with a great selection of restaurants and little shops. Galway City is less than an hours drive for a change of pace with all that a modern city offers. The sea is literally on the doorstep and the sount of the sea and birdlife is truely relaxing.

What makes this house unique

The house is a really comfortable with an open fire in the living area. There is a lovely patio garden with picnic table to the back overlooking the sea for dining alfresco. Parking is plentiful and the area is quite and peaceful.

Excellent property

The house was fantastic. Great location for touring southwest Ireland. The little town of Ballyvaughan is very close, has nice restaurants and a fine pub. Would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay with a fantastic view

  • 5 of 5

This large property is in a lovely location right on the shore of Galway Bay with a tower ruin next door and great views of the sunset. After 20 hours of delayed travel, a long flight from the US, and driving in from Dublin, the fresh bread, butter, and honey, along with a bottle of wine waiting for us were a welcome sight and very much appreciated.

Amenities are numerous including two showers, a dishwasher, a clothes washer -- and dryer(!), a fireplace, and enough television channels to keep one entertained during downtime.

The closest town, Ballyvaughan, is a short drive down the road although not within a comfortably walkable distance, not to mention the absence of a shoulder/verge/any space between the road and adjacent stone walls for much of the distance. The Spar in town serves well as the only market for groceries and peat briquettes for the fire. There are several pubs and restaurants in town along with a visitors center.

This central location is within easy driving distance to Galway, Aillwee Cave, the Cliffs of Moher, and various sights around the Burren.

We would definitely consider staying here again if visiting the area.

An amazing location!!!

  • 4 of 5

We loved the house, the location and the views.

The only negative is that the bedding was not very comfortable. Pillows and duvets were lumpy and hard. While the linens were clean, and there were extra pillows in the airing cupboard, we could not find extra pillow cases. As well, the mattress liners were torn.

The house is a great size, large kitchen and airy lounge/dinning room. And the bedrooms were comfortable.

We really enjoyed the area, it was quiet, and offered excellent star gazing on cloudless nights. The people and dogs we met were very friendly. Overall, a great space.

Loved the view of Galway Bay which was amazing The cottage was clean but a bit tired.

We particularly enjoyed the turf fire in the evenings. It would have been nice to be greeted with some milk in the fridge after the long journey. Ballyvaughen was lovely with all the amenities you need.
