Apartment in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, Wales - Central To Just About Everything! Shops, Restaurants, Bars And All 4 Beaches!

We had been looking for a stunning sea view property in Tenby for several years! In 2010 one finally became available. Since we purchased this two floor apartment in 2010 we have spent nearly every spare moment (and penny) refurbishing, redecorating and refreshing it to be what is it today. This apartment is part of the history of Tenby and it appears on every postcard of Tenby Harbour. It is Grade listed as it was a Public House in the 17th century. It is steeped in history and has a heritage plaque above the front door showing that George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans) wrote her first novel in this very building.

Why Grant and Virginia Turner chose Tenby

We had been looking for a stunning sea view property in Tenby for several years as we just love the Pembrokeshire coast! Great to stroll on all of the beaches and walk the coastal path but the views from the front room are the real reason we simply love this apartment.

What makes this apartment unique

Everything is so close - Ocean Italian restaurant is next door and the Hope and Anchor pub is 50 yards one way with the Plantagenet Restaurant 50 yards the other. The shops are just around the corner as is the Laugharne Bread Shop which serves up fresh bread from 9am each morning - try the uncut wholemeal!

Notes on accommodation: Sorry but this apartment is strictly "no smoking". Well behaved dogs (one) with feet cleaned at the front door accepted! Outside: In the communal hallway there are fishing rods and two deckchairs which you are welcome to use! Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Fresh finest quality Egyptian cotton bedding is provided. (quilts on all beds) Tea towels are provided but bath and beach towels are required. Also a bath mat and tea towels for each visit. If longer than a 1 week stay these are replaced on Friday mornings. Other: The apartment has a "FreeSat" system which is pretty much like Sky+. It differs by having a huge hard drive (unlike Sky+) and we have recorded a library of films and programs for those lazy rainy days. It is very easy to use - much like Sky+

Excellent location and amazing views

Throughly enjoyed our stay in a great apartment with everything we needed , location was perfect right by the harbour and hardly drive all week ! Could walk to shops, beaches and boat trips which were all on the doorstop .

Very clean , tidy and spacious apartment and the owners grant and Virginia were very helpful from booking to arrival for our holiday.

Stunning views, lovely apartment

I can’t believe that there’s a property with better views in all of Tenby. The decor in the flat is beautiful and furnishings comfortable and homely. The kitchen is well equipped, although with so many fantastic restaurants and cafes so close to the apartment, we took the opportunity to eat out as much as possible.

The Location and the Space were Delightful

My husband and I stayed at this vrbo for four nights. The location was wonderful with views of the bay outside the living room window. We were able to park four blocks from the vrbo, which was not to far for us as there is no parking right next to the vrbo as it is located in the town center. The unit was mostly clean...some dirty dishes, we cleaned the window, which looked out over the bay, and a musty tea towel left in the washing machine....but this can all be dealt with by talking with the cleaners. I think as Americans we were surprised even though it was written in the owner's notes there are no hand or bath towels. We were able to purchase two bath towels at a thrift store. The other thing as Americans is that we normally don't expect to have to get rid of our own trash. There was one large bag to throw your trash in in the kitchen and no bags in the bathroom trash can. So we took our trash out to the kitchen from the bathroom whenever the need arose to do so. The owners explained they cannot put their trash on the sidewalks (a city ordinance) so you have to get rid of it otherwise the cleaner if she/he takes it out charges 10 pounds to do so (a note saying this posted in the kitchen). So we honored the request. These are all small things but they do color the experience a bit. But overall it was a good experience due to the location, the space it offers and the stunning sea views from the living room.

Happy Stay In Tenby

The apartment was very clean and comfortable but there were just a few things that could make it better:- (1, to make sure that all the lights had bulbs in and all the others were working.(2, a pair of oven gloves would be a great help. (3, the sofa,s and cushions need a good clean, they are stained and dirty.

Great views of a lovely old fashioned seaside town

Lovely apartment with great sea views. A little confusion over safe key code, but was sorted out quickly. Luckily we caught the maintenance man just before he left for the airport for a weeks holiday abroad! Spacious apartment with lovely bedrooms and bathrooms, just need to keep an eye on things like replacing bulbs as we couldn't find any spares. All in all an enjoyable few days.

There are 4 beaches in Tenby: South Beach has 2km of golden sand which spans the shoreline from St. Catherine's Island to Giltar Point.

Castle Beach lies in the cove between Castle Hill and the East Cliff. Harbour beach is a small picturesque beach found right outside your front door and our favorite.

North Beach dominates the view from the flat and is a golden stretch of sandy beach and the prominent Goskar Rock.


Tenby is a 2 hour drive down the M4 from the Severn Bridge Crossing (Bristol), 4 hours from West London, 3 ½ hours from Birmingham and 1 ½ hours from Cardiff.

Tenby has a train station and high speed trains run from London Paddington to Carmarthen (3½ hrs). However once past Carmarthen the trains are pretty pedestrian and the journey to Tenby is as slow (1hr) as it is picturesque.


Saundersfoot - took us an hour to walk using the coastal path and beach (do it at low tide) and we got the bus back after a great coffee!

Narberth is about a 15 minute drive has been named as one of the twenty nominations for “Britain’s Best Shopping Street” in the Google Street View Awards 2011. Oakwood Adventure Park is about 20 minutes away and has some spectacular rides nowadays!

Further Details:

A Tesco Metro supermarket (open from 6am - 10pm) is a 2 minute walk, so no panic if you run out of anything! A larger Sainsbury's supermarket is five mins walk; Braun's the butchers in Tenby Market Hall, Four Seasons local fruit and veg offer good quality fresh produce. This year a fishmonger has opened its doors right outside in the Tenby harbour so if you don’t catch your own you can purchase a bass or some mackerel – just don’t tell the wife!

There is a wide selection of cafes and restaurants to suit all pockets and tastes - from excellent fish and chips, classic pub food, Indian restaurants and one or two high quality restaurants. We supply a fact sheet for our guests before they arrive which not only suggests our favorite restaurants but also which tables are the best to book and gives contact numbers so you can make that booking early. Restaurants in Tenby are booked weeks if not months in advance.

Booking Notes:
Please take a look at the availability calendar as you can see when last updated and we try to update every week. If you ask for a period already shown as booked out then please do not be surprised if you do not receive a response.

Payment terms:
Saturday is our standard changeover day. All booking arrangements can be agreed at the time. We do ask for a 20% refundable deposit to confirm the booking. Full payment to be made six weeks prior to arrival. Payment can be made by bank transfer.

Changeover Day:
You can access the property from 3pm on day of arrival. Please vacate the property by 11am on day of departure. When booking a short break (long weekend) the arrival time and time of departure can sometimes be more flexible.

Notes on prices:
Whilst we are able to offer short breaks during low season, please be aware that the price for shorter breaks is not a straight division as the overhead cost of cleaning, sheet change is the same for 3 days as it is for a week. The minimum stay is 3 nights depending on the time of year.
