Luxury Ground Floor Apartment On Golf Course

Updated: 01-Sep-2016
Apartment in Watton, Nr. Norwich, Norfolk, England - Wonderful Location In The Heart Of Norfolk with Great Views Overlooking The 18th Fairway

Fairview is a spacious, well equipped 2 bedroom apartment, with superb views overlooking the 18th fairway, at Richmond Park golf club and is perfect for a luxury self catering holiday and with gas central heating it makes it a very comfortable and cosy holiday destination whatever the time of year. You do not have to be a golfer to stay at Fairview, the Apartment is in an ideal location in the Heart of Norfolk with easy access to Norwich, Cambridge, Newmarket, the Norfolk coast and the Norfolk Broads. It is ideal for walkers and cyclists and as a base for exploring by car with the many nature reserves close by including Titchwell, Minsmere, Lackford Lakes and Lakenheath Fen (with the Golden Orioles). We are so fortunate to have the vast Thetford Forest very close by with its' cycle and walking trails including the Green, Blue & Red cycle tracks and the demanding Black mountain bike track at High Lodge Forest Centre, which is also home to the Go Ape Tree Top Adventure with Tarzan swings, zipwires and rope bridges.

About the Owner

We love this house and the fantastic views and we are so happy to have guests sharing in the experience when they stay in the separate, self contained ground floor apartment we have named Fairview. The apartment on the first floor is only used by ourselves but when there are guests staying in Fairview we leave them to it so they can have absolute peace and quiet and enjoy the ambiance.

Great Place to Stay in Norfolk

  • 5 of 5

I booked this property (1 week get away for my family including 10 and 13 year olds) for its central Norfolk location and the property description. The property did not disappoint, located as described on a golf course with views over the greens (we often saw deer in the evening as we relaxed sitting on the back patio). It was also very quiet. The property itself is spacious, well equipped, very clean, well decorated and has been well maintained. The kitchen equipment including oven, hob, fridge/ freezer, dishwasher etc were very clean as were all the pots/ pans, cutlery, crockery and glasses. The children were very happy with the TV, DVD and WiFi. The owners have obviously made a real effort to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible such as night light in the twin bed room, fresh towels, welcome tray (tea, coffee, biscuits) and milk in the fridge. Kay, the owner was great, communicated with any queires before our stay promptly and has produced a guide (left in the property) to local pubs, restaurants, attractions, places to visit etc which really helped. Highlights for us were Thetford Forest (excellent bike trails and Go Ape), Holkham, Lunch at the 'The Orange Tree' Pub in Thornham (Dining Pub of the Year in the Good Pub Guide 2013). We loved staying here and have no hesitation in recommending to anyone.

Owner's Response: Many thanks Bryn for such a complimentary review. Over the years when our family were growing up we stayed at many self catering cottages and I can remember well the dashes to the nearest shops (some not so near!) to buy tea towels, washing up liquid, baking trays, saucepans etc because some of the accommodation was so poorly equipped. This made me determined to try and think of everything I would like to find in a holiday home so my guests would not have to go through the same experience which eats into precious holiday time. I am so glad you and your family enjoyed the central location of Fairview. So many holiday makers want to be by the Norfolk Coast not realising how much this area of Norfolk has to offer and how quick it is to get to the coast if wanted. We are virtually on the doorstep of Thetford Forest which is a superb area for outdoor activities like walking, biking, bird watching and as you mentioned High Lodge (owned and managed by the forestry commission) with it's bike trails and Go Ape located in the middle of the forest. We are also not far from the beautiful university city of Cambridge and a bus ride or half hour car journey to the lovely city of Norwich, great for shopping and sightseeing. I do so love it when guests get out of their holiday what they want whether it's lots of activities or just rest and relaxation away from the daily grind and routine. We do look forward to hopefully welcoming you back for another holiday at Fairview.
