Sailors Haunt is ideally positioned alongside the quay of the inner harbour in Brixham, a fishing port with rich maritime history. Nestling at the harbour's edge and surrounded by other colourful fisherman's cottages, which spill down the hills to the quayside, Sailors' Haunt is ideally positioned for a holiday at any time of the year. It has been tastefully decorated and equipped to offer couples and families everything necessary for the perfect self catering holiday destination. The cottage is just a few metres away from the harbour wall yet only a few minutes walk from shops and restaurants. A private parking bay is included in the rental charge, guaranteeing you a parking space after a long day out.

The cottage has a sunny galleried balcony providing the perfect spot to enjoy the afternoon sunshine with a cup of tea or glass of wine, while taking in the sights and sounds of the harbour.

Rental also includes our own bed linen & towels (not beach towels), free wi-fi, gas central heating and a private parking bay just a few minutes walk away and within view from the cottage. Bookings run from Friday each week for 7 days or multiples thereof. Short flexible breaks of 3 or 4 days are available from November to Easter. Keys are posted 7 days prior to your holiday commencing allowing you to arrive at your convenience any time after 3pm.

About Mr R Haycock

Sailors Haunt has been privately owned and managed for over 15 years and is well equipped to accommodate up to four people. It is ideal for couples or families but not suitable for children under of 2 years due to the open plan layout with stairs. Sleeps maximum of four. In the interests of all our guests, we do not allow pets or smoking in the cottage.

Why Mr R Haycock chose Torbay

Sailors Haunt is one of three cottages. In the 1800's the cottages and the shop beneath formed one building that was used for boat repairs and the vast ceiling height allowed for the dyeing and drying of the red coloured sails that were typical of Brixham fishing fleet. In the mid 1900's the whole building was split into the 4 separate properties that still exist today.

Brixham is full of charm and packed with attractions and activities for people of all ages. The replica of the Golden Hind is moored just across the harbour and there are several safe beaches, a seawater swimming pool and rock pools to explore and all within walking distance from the cottage. You can book boat trips that leave the harbour daily to go fishing or to visit other coastal destinations. For those who want to explore the wider Devon area by car there is Dartmouth, Salcombe, Torquay, Paignton, Babbacombe and Totnes, all within easy driving distance; you can also venture further afield to visit many National Trust Properties or the Eden Project.

What makes this cottage unique

Sailors' Haunt has a sunny galleried balcony, with patio doors opening onto the sights and sounds of the harbour and offering views of the marina, Torbay and beyond.

The private parking bay within view from the cottage allows you to safely leave your car and offers the advantage of a guaranteed parking space when you return from a day out.

Cleaning is included so all you need to do at the end of your stay is to pack your bags and remove you rubbish from the waste bins. Bed linen and towels (not for use outside of the cottage) are also included.

There is a large walk-in shower in the main bathroom. There is a second toilet adjacent to the bedrooms and the main bedroom has a washbasin, heated towel rail and hairdryer. There are also tea making facilities in the main bedroom.

Ideally located cottage

Clean,well equipped comfy cottage with lovely harbour views. Binoculars a nice touch, harbour parking a real bonus, had no problems parking a ford focus estate there. Owners easy to contact and deal with(especially when we left our key inside) on the whole we really enjoyed our stay there.

Wonderful base to explore Brixham.

We spent a brilliant week in Brixham. Only used the car once as so much to do within walking distance or boat ride.

The cottage is ideal, clean, nicely decorated, the owners have thought of everything. The view from the lounge window is wonderful. We will be back.

Superb!

We had a fantastic weeks holiday staying in this cottage. It was spotless and everything seemed new. It was lovely sitting in the window watching the boats or just reading. The view couldn't have been better. The parking bay was a big bonus too. Lovely comfortable bed and lots of homely touches like pictures and ornaments. I would highly recommend this cottage. We will definitely stay there again.

Delightful cottage in the heart of Brixham's harbour area. Quirky but clean and well-maintained; the owners really have thought of everything you might need. The only downside is the allocated parking - unless you are a very confident parker, or have a very small car, beware!

Owner's Response: Re: parking comment - Brixham is a small harbour town and parking is at a premium. Most properties in the town have no parking at all. We pay Torbay Council for the harbour side parking bay, which is exclusively for the use and convenience of guests; it is also within view from the cottage. We have a large car and can park it with care in the bay even when both adjacent bays are in use.

Enjoyable Stay

Cottage ideally located in Brixham Harbour as a good base. Recently refurbished to a high standard. Views from the lounge across the harbour are stunning. We enjoyed our stay very much. We found the holiday venue relaxing and would not hesitate to recommend Saior's Haunt or Brixham as a holiday destination.

Location

Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

Easy walking distance to the shops, restaurants and inns.

Local beaches, rock pools and a seawater swimming pool are all just a few minutes walk away. Other beaches are close at hand at Paignton, Torquay and Goodrington.

Brixham has a large marina within easy walking distance where you will also find the breakwater and the Lifeboat station.

The harbour walkway is landscaped by the Brixham Volunteers and add to the overall beauty of the area.

Travel:

Paignton train station 15 minutes by taxi to the cottage.

Coach/bus services into Brixham centre approximately 5 minutes walk to the cottage.

Further Details:

Brixham has a quaint main shopping street where you will find supermarkets, banks, a post office and many independent shops. There are also lots of shops around the harbour where holiday makers can find gifts and keepsakes to take home. There is a regular market held on the harbour side at the old fish market where local artists sell their crafts and paintings.

Brixham is becoming a gastronomic destination with many restaurants opening up. There are also a number of pubs offering good meals.

All of these are in easy walking distance from Sailors Haunt.

Bookings require a 30% deposit plus a £100 refundable security deposit which will be refunded at the end of your holiday, see terms & conditions. Full payment 9 weeks before the start of your holiday. Late booking require full payment. We have included an on-line banking transfer facility or if you can pay by credit card through PayPal (this will incur a small extra charge). Bank direct transfer is also available free of charge (except international transactions which incur a small fee).

Changeover Day:
Changeover day during the summer season is on a Friday. Arrival time after 3pm and departure day by 10.30am.
The cottage pack including the door keys is sent out before your holiday start date, so you can arrive at any time after 3pm.

Notes on prices:
Short breaks: Short breaks are only available from November to March (excluding Christmas, New Year & Bank Holidays). 3 nights: £255 (only out of season as above). 4 nights: £275 (out of season as above). We are open all year round. We do not charge a booking fee.

Manager's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
