About the property

Brixham Holiday Cottage Devon harbourside location, near shops and restaurants

Sailors Haunt is ideally positioned alongside the quay of the inner harbour in Brixham a fishing port with rich maritime history. This quaint fisherman's cottage, with easy access over three floors, dates from the early 1800s. Nestling at the harbour's edge and surrounded by other colourful fisherman's cottages, which spill down the hills to the quayside. It has been tastefully decorated and equipped to offer couples and small families everything necessary for the perfect self catering holiday retreat. Sleeping 4 the cottage is just a few metres away from the quayside yet only two minutes walk from the main shops, restaurants and bars. Owned and managed for over 15 years by the same owner, so no extra agents fees to pay for on top.

Brixham is full of charm and packed with attractions and activities for people of all ages. The replica of the Golden Hind is moored just across the harbour and there are several safe beaches, a seawater swimming pool and rock pools to explore and all within walking distance from the cottage. You can book boat trips that leave the harbour daily to go fishing or to visit other coastal destinations. For those who want to explore the wider Devon area by car there is Dartmouth, Salcombe, Torquay, Paignton, Babbacombe and Totnes, all within easy driving distance; you can also venture further afield to visit many National Trust Properties or the Eden Project.

The cottage has a sunny galleried balcony providing the perfect spot to enjoy the afternoon or evening sun for a cup of tea or glass of wine after your day out. It is the perfect place to sit and take in the sights and sounds next to the harbour.

Rental includes our own bed linen & towels (not beach towels), Wi-fi, gas central heating and your own private parking bay just a few minutes walk away from the cottage. Short breaks of 3 or 4 days are only available from November to March.

About Mr R Haycock

Sailors Haunt is privately owned and managed for over 15 years, is well equipped to accommodate up to four people. It is ideal for couples or small families though unfortunately not suitable for pets or children under four.

Why Mr R Haycock chose South Hams

Sailors Haunt is one of three cottages and was converted to accommodation around the late 1800s cc built above an old ship stores in use until the mid 1900's. which was used as part of the fishing net and sail repair/dyeing workshop with a high roof loft space to dry the sails once dyed.

The building was divided into three cottages with entrances from King Street.

What makes this cottage unique

The sunny galleried balcony, with patio doors opening onto the sights and sounds over looking the harbour and views of the marina, Torbay and beyond.

Your own private parking bay allows you to safely leave your car in the harbour carpark which can be seen from the cottage. A 10% discount has been applied already to our advertised prices.

Short breaks are only available between November to the end of March

Everything necessary for the perfect self catering holiday retreat.

The cottage was more than I expected.

Mr & Mrs Smith, Chester.

Just a note to say how much we enjoyed Sailors Haunt. It was so comfortable and the view was something else. Hope to visit again in the near future.

Mr Hunt, Derbyshire.

What a lovely clean cottage, it is so nice to be able to sit in the chairs by the window and watch the boats and people go by.

Mrs Hiles, Oxford.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay again and found everything very nice and welcoming, we’ll certainly book again.

Mrs Booth - Bulwell.

Ideally located cottage

Clean, well equipped comfy cottage with lovely harbour views. Binoculars a nice touch, harbour parking a real bonus, had no problems parking a ford focus estate there. Owners easy to contact and deal with(especially when we left our key inside) on the whole we really enjoyed our stay there.

Wonderful base to explore Brixham.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a brilliant week in Brixham. Only used the car once as so much to do within walking distance or boat ride.

The cottage is ideal, clean, nicely decorated, the owners have thought of everything. The view from the lounge window is wonderful. We will be back.

Superb!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic weeks holiday staying in this cottage. It was spotless and everything seemed new. It was lovely sitting in the window watching the boats or just reading. The view couldn't have been better. The parking bay was a big bonus too. Lovely comfortable bed and lots of homely touches like pictures and ornaments. I would highly recommend this cottage. We will definitely stay there again.

Lovely Hideaway

  • 4 of 5

Delightful cottage in the heart of Brixham's harbour area. Quirky but clean and well-maintained; the owners really have thought of everything you might need. The only downside is the allocated parking - unless you are a very confident parker, or have a very small car, beware!

Owner's Response: Re: parking comment - Brixham is a small harbour town and parking is at a premium. Most properties in the town have no parking at all. We pay Torbay Council for the harbour side parking bay, which is exclusively for the use and convenience of guests; it is also within view from the cottage. We have a large car and can park it with care in the bay even when both adjacent bays are in use.

Enjoyable Stay

  • 5 of 5

Cottage ideally located in Brixham Harbour as a good base. Recently refurbished to a high standard. Views from the lounge across the harbour are stunning. We enjoyed our stay very much. We found the holiday venue relaxing and would not hesitate to recommend Saior's Haunt or Brixham as a holiday destination.
