We have been visiting Frigiliana for many years and absolutely love the village. We have been searching for a house in the village to which we can eventually retire and found this exceptional lovely property in March 2011. Until such time as we retire we are willing to share it with others by providing very comfortable holiday lettings. We strive to provide exceptional comfort in a rental property. A spacious, spotless, sympathetically restored village house with superb views over the village to Nerja. We had a fantasic 2 week holiday even though the weather was not brilliant and will return. Many thanks.

Linda and John, April 2013

It is quite an exceptional property and a wonderful location. - James, Feb 2013.

Our thanks for letting us rent your lovely house over Christmas and the New

Year. Everything was quite perfect, and we very much enjoyed everything.

The weather was very co-operative, and we spent many long hours enjoying the marvellous view from the upper terrace.

Sheila, Bob and family. January 2013

We had such a lovely holiday in Frigiliana - it truly is a special place, and a really unique and beautiful house. Thank you for allowing us to stay there - it felt like a real privilege to be right in the centre of the old town! Carolyn, Chris, Amber age 5 and Baxter age 4. November 2012

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderfull time.

Accommodation was excellent.

Two teenagers were happy to have WiFi although we never turned on TV as when in house we found ourselves drawn to terraces.

Frigiliana is a beautiful village and we'll worth a visit.

Regards

Deborah

Fantastic, relaxing spot!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Frigiliana for a week, with our two children and my mother-in-law. The villa was absolutely fantastic, and had everything we needed. We cooked quite a bit when we were there, including using the Barbeque on the upper terrace and we always managed to find what we were looking for. There was plenty of space for all of us to spread out and we did spend the majority of time relaxing on either the middle or upper terrace depending on the time of day. You could not beat the views and my favourite spot was having a cup of coffee on the middle terrace first thing in the morning with a view of the Spanish coast to the left and mountains to the right. My children felt comfortable very quickly in the property and loved the nearby community pool. There were also several nice family restaurants very close walking distance in the village. David and Dorrie were extremely helpful and responsive getting us information and answering any questions. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

A beautiful house in a beautiful village

  • 5 of 5

David and Dorrie's house is fantastic: it's very spacious, decorated with taste and has everything you could possibly need. It is full of character while still having all you expect from a modern house. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are very well fitted, and the terraces are simply amazing, with incredible views to the sea.

David and Dorrie made sure that all essential items were available when we arrived, down to beach towels! There is a folder with information on the house and the village, which was very useful. David and Dorrie had also sent us information ahead of time, so our arrival was made very easy.

The position of the house in the village is ideal and very central. Quite a few steps to climb, but you can take your time! We booked the car park which was very useful.

The village is amazing! Plenty of restaurants and bars, quirky shops, but it retains a very Spanish charm, which is missing on the coast. We are already planning our next stay!

We definitely recommend this great property.

Caroline and Kevin, Geneva.

Fantastic village house

  • 5 of 5

We spent two very pleasant weeks in David and Dorrie's delightful house this February, and found it to be ideal for us and our extended family. The house is spacious, full of character and very tastefully decorated.

The bedrooms are warm and comfortable. All en suite and with plenty of hot water.

The sitting room is spacious yet cosy with a very efficient wood burning stove and plenty of seating.

The kitchen is very well equipped making self catering a manageable option, and there are plenty of small local shops and restaurants nearby.

David and Dorrie are most attentive hosts even phoning us to make sure we had all that we needed. The house and local area information that they provide is the most comprehensive and useful that we have ever come across. This made it very easy to settle in quickly without the frustration we sometimes encounter in getting things to work!

The pièce de resistance however is the spectacular upper terrace overlooking the Frigiliana valley. Here we were able to sunbathe - in February - and enjoy relaxing family meals overlooking the panorama.

We were glad we took the option of the reserved parking space as parking is at a premium in the village even out of season. The only thing that some might find awkward is the five minute walk, which is quite steep, up to the house. But it really is worth it on arrival, and it is a lovely house which we can highly recommend.

lovely house, high level of service from owners.

I almost cannot think of anything that would have liked to be better.

Perhaps a softer bed and pillows, but apart from this, the house and it sorroundings is absolutely superb.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your excellent review. We are sorry that you felt that your bed and pillows could have been a little softer. We appreciate that each person has their own preferences when it comes to the firmness of the beds and pillows. For that reason we opted for medium firmness of both in order to attempt to suit all of our guests and several guests have commented on how comfortable the beds are. We will bear your comment in mind when we are buying replacement pillows. Thanks again for your constructive comment which is much appreciated. David & Dorrie Lodge

Beautiful home from home!

  • 4 of 5

We have stayed in the village for the last 12 years and this is really a gem of a house. We took all age groups this time from 11 to 75 and everyone enjoyed the space and outstanding views especially from the top terrace. The house is very well equipped we cooked quite alot and we really didn't want for anything - bbq produces an excellent steak! Feel very privileged to have shared your house for a short period and would definitely visit again

Location

From the Owner

The house is in a stunning location in the heart of a beautiful, peaceful but friendly 'white village' within very easy reach of the town of Nerja and many lovely beaches. If you just want to relax, there is no need to leave the village as it has everything you need including numerous good restaurants. The village is steeped in history and retains it's Spanish character with many colourful festivals and is very welcoming to English speakers, especially if you are willing to try a little Spanish. Lying on the edge of a mountainous national park it is a great base for lovely walks of varying degrees of difficulty in stunning scenery. It is also conveniently close to some fabulous beaches.

Travel:

Other coastal resorts within easy reach are Almunecar, La Herradura and Salobrena. The beach at La Heradura is particularly nice.

Distances:

The beautiful coastal resort town of Nerja is only 3 miles away by bus or car. The town has several beautiful beaches including the famous Burriana beach but there are many other fine beaches close by along this stretch of the coast with cafes, bars or restaurants on the beach. Further east along the spectacular rocky coast you may find secluded sandy beaches at the end of a dusty track.

Further Details:

Frigiliana is a charming old Moorish village dating back some 5000 years. It is still very much a living, working village and was recently named the prettiest village in Andalucia.

In the village there is a wide selection of very good Spanish restaurants and bars plus a variety of other restaurants including English, German, Italian, Indian and Polish! For an even wider choice, Nerja is just ten minutes away by taxi.

There are shops in the village for almost everything you could want, although they are not always easy to find. There are two banks (cash machines outside), post office, pharmacy, health shop, paper shop, butchers, bakery, fishmongers, several greengrocers, egg shop, flower shop, electrical shop, ironmongers, and several small general stores / supermarkets as well as several artisanal tourist shops on the main street. There is a market in the village on Thursdays and in nearby Nerja on Tuesdays.

Nerja has several large supermarkets and every other type of shop, and Malaga is within easy reach by bus or car for serious shopping.

Opening hours are generally from 10am until 2pm, then from 5pm until 9pm.

A few of the small stores open on Sunday. There is a 24 hour shop at the petrol station on the motorway junction for emergencies.

We have recently bought a parking space in the secure private car park beneath the market place in Frigiliana. I have to admit it is nice to not have to search for a space and also not having to get into a car like an oven! At present we have decided that parking is charged extra at £2 per day for the length of your stay for those that wish to use it. If you wish to use this facility, please let us know and add the appropriate amount to your final payment.
