Very comfortable,luxurious and cosy cottages surrounded by stunning valley views. The Old Dairy (detached) and The Courtyard (semi detached) both with parking and unoverlooked. Adjacent to each other across a large courtyard they have everything for a relaxing and romantic get away. Snuggle in next to the log burning stove and you just won't want to go outside! The decor and furnishings are beautifully maintained and our guests comfort is a priority. Timble is the perfect base for touring Yorkshire and all it's treasures. Surrounded by Harrogate, Pately Bridge, Ripon, Ilkley and Skipton there is lots to see and do and lots of reasons to return. The general area is very well suited for walkers, cyclists, fishing, golfing or just relaxing. Situated in the village of Timble in Nidderdale it is only a 2 minute walk from the local excellent restaurant and pub. Perfect for 2 couples who wish to holiday together but require seperate accommodation. Evening meals available.

About the Owner

My little 'cottage' industry started 13 years ago when myself and my husband decided to restore a very run down but beautiful Yorkshire stone barn on our property.

The Old Dairy was completed and has been such a success that in 2013 we opened our new cottage 'The Courtyard. Still part of our barn conversion and adjacent to The Old Dairy the cottages are perfect for 2 couples who like to holiday together but prefer their own 'space'.

Our ethos in the new cottage was to create a beautiful space in the former school mistresses house. 'Affordable Luxury' was our focus and we are delighted with the outcome.

Special little cottage

The cottage is very special in decor and comfort and Dawn a most welcoming host. Every comfort is supplied from the dressing gowns to the coffee maker and wine cooler. We didn't use the wood burner but could imagine how special it would be on a cool evening.

Timble is in a wonderful area for touring the Nidderdale area and our camera certainly was well used photographing the unbelievably beautiful area that surrounds the cottage. Fountains Abbey and Bolton Abbey both were so picturesque that our photos could be used for jig-saw puzzles or chocolate box covers.

Dawn gave us many hints on where to dine, what not to miss and where to shop and she and her husband made our stay just that bit more enjoyable by their sheer friendliness.

We will certainly be recommending The Couryard to our family and friends.

A beautiful cottage with every facility in a lovely hamlet. Made very welcome by Dawn and Barry(highly recommend Dawn's catering..fantastic food) a superb holiday , will recommend to friends and will return . Ruth and Ted .

Just Brilliant

A very warm welcome from Dawn and Barry on arriving and they are the most perfect hosts. The cottage is very luxurious in every way, very cosy with the woodburner also the welcome pack and expensive toiletries are a lovely thought.

There are many walks nearby and the courtyard is in a great peaceful setting.

We look forward to returning.

The cottage was perfect. Warm & cosy and beautifully finished.

The wine was a nice touch. We would like to return later in the summer and try some delicacy off your menu.

just gorgeous

the courtyard cottage is absolutley beautiful, a real home away from home, so cosy & comfortable and the deco is gorgeous, in an amazing location. we had a warm welcome and felt at ease right away, we loved our stay & 3 nights just wasn't enough. i can't fault anything, we will deffinatley be back :-)

Yorkshires Hidden Gem

Just stayed at the Courtyard Cottage for 4 nights and it was fantastic so cosy immaculately clean and well maintained. Dawn and Barry were great hosts they made you feel so welcome upon arrival and were always on hand should we have needed anything. The Cottage was furnished to a very high standard and the owners had thought of everything with lovely finishing touches like bathrobes, slippers and luxurious toiletries. The Courtyard is ideally situated for visiting Otley, Ilkley, Harrogate and York to name but a few the only downside to our visit was not staying long enough already been looking at when we can return.

Although we have owned the property since 1997 The Old Dairy Cottage was only converted 13 years ago. Once a former outbuilding and dairy the restoration was needed to preserve the structure. The reason I have chosen to have a holiday cottage in this area is that it is just the perfect environment for relaxing, walking, cycling and to tour around and enjoy the wonderful things The Yorkshire Dales has to offer. Situated in a dedicated area of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty' the views from the cottage take a lot to beat. It's actually so good that I actually live next door! It's like being on holiday for me 365 days of the year. The success of The Old Dairy encouraged us to open 'The Courtyard' in March 2013. We just couldn't supply the demand for luxury accommodation and regularly had to turn enquiries away. 3 months of hard work converting another part of our property produced The Courtyard Cottage but was well worth the effort. We are delighted with the outcome!

Distances:

Nearest town for shopping Otley 5 miles. Places of interest -Harrogate 8 miles. Ilkley 6 miles. Skipton 9 miles. Ripon 15 miles. Pateley Bridge 10 miles.

Further Details:

The local town of Otley is a traditional market town with supermarkets and local shops - 5 miles. Ilkley is 6 miles away and has lovely restaurants and the famous 'moor'. Harrogate is much larger and is 8 miles away. This has many restaurants, good shopping and lots of places of interest.

Leeds is best visited by train from Ilkley or a 40 minute drive by car. A vibrant and busy city with great shops and places to eat. Pateley bridge will take you 25 minutes by car and is well worth a visit. It is in the heart of Nidderdale.

York is less than an hours drive and an excellent park and ride service saves you the hassle of parking. Ripon and it's cathedral are a must and will take you 40 minutes to drive to. Skipton 'The gateway to the Dales' is a wonderful market town with it's own castle.

Perfectly situated for touring around Yorkshire and no more than a few miles from most of the major places of interest. Harrogate, Skipton, Ilkley, Ripon, York, Grassington, Masham etc. etc. the list is endless. The village of Timble has a wonderful local pub/restaurant serving great food. With it being only a 2 minute walk from the cottage there is no need to drive out for a meal. Alternatively, I can serve an evening meal in the cottage. My catering business has the necessary permits to allow me to offer this service. All freshly cooked using local ingredients this is a facility quite unique to holiday cottages.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: 24 hour laundry service available. Evening meal private dining available. All towels, tea towels, bath robes and slippers and linen are included. The property is cleaned and linen changed weekly for stays over 1 week. Towels are replaced and refreshed to suit the guests. The OldDairy is suitable for guests who require accommodation on 1 level. There is only 1 step into the cottage and the remaining floor throughout is all 1 level. Not suitable for wheelchair users. We have a no smoking policy inside the cottages and are unable to accept pets. The Courtyard has an upstairs bedroom and is not suitable for guests who are unable to climb stairs. Outside: The Old Dairy has it's own private garden which is mainly lawned with surrounding flower beds. Yorkshire dry stone walls surround the property and the cottage has 2 sets of patio doors leading out onto the stone terrace. Garden furniture is available both on the terrace and in the garden. A BBQ is available for use. The Courtyard also has it's own private outside seating area. Garden furniture and BBQ are available too. The area is surrounded by Yorkshire dry stone walling and the pretty garden is planted with cottage flowers and shrubs.
