The Old Bakery living room has French doors to a small patio area and a short flight of steps leading up to the cottage garden. There is a large kitchen/dining room. Still on the ground floor we have a twin-bedded room with French doors leading to the small patio area and garden and a shower room with enclosed cubicle and loo. On the first floor there is a very large double bedroom with a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with an iron roll-top bath with a shower attachment, a basin and loo. The property has full CH and a log burner – we supply a basket of logs for the start of your holiday.

Awarded the prestigious EnjoyEngland 4 Star Gold Award 2011-2016 for quality accommodation and customer service, Town End Farm and its adjoining cottages are situated on the edge of the ancient village of Crowcombe in the heart of the Quantock Hills, the first area in Britain designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is a footpath directly opposite the farm entrance which leads right up to the top of the hills and across the surrounding countryside which has changed very little from the days when it inspired the romantic poets Coleridge and Wordsworth. Just a few minutes walk will take you into the heart of the village, where you will find the village church, shop with Post Office and also the excellent pub, The Carew Arms. The cottages are tastefully decorated throughout. Each has a separate garden and guests also have access to the owners large gardens and paddocks. We have tame miniature ponies and sheep grazing in our paddocks.

About Bruce Thompson

I have lived at Town End Farm since January 2008 and in that time have made many changes to both the original farmhouse, the cottages and gardens. We have two miniature Fallabella horses and 15 friendly hens. We welcome all hands at feeding time!.

My wish is that guests will leave here feeling relaxed and refreshed with some wonderful memories of beautiful countryside.

I first visited the area approx. 6 years ago and immediately fell in love with it.

It totally lives up to its designation as an 'Area of Outstanding Beauty'.

Most people drive past West Somerset on their way to Cornwall -if only they knew what they were missing.

I have walked for miles through valleys with sparkling streams and on hills with magnificent views and yet hardly seen anyone.

The Quantocks have it all - pretty villages with old quaint pubs ,steam railway trains puffing in the distance,red deer,sheep and ponies grazing and a beautiful backdrop.

Why wouldn't I want to live here ?

We accept 25% of the total cost by way of deposit, with the balance due one month prior to the holiday date.

We take all major credit cards, personal cheques and payment by bank transfer.


Changeover Day:
During the peak summer months, the changeover day is Saturday. Between October and May we offer short breaks which have flexible start days.

Notes on prices:
Prices for short breaks and whole weeks during 2015 range from £266 to £810.

Transportation for the setting down and collection of guests and their bikes can be arranged. Outside: Guests staying in Town End Farm cottages can enjoy use of a separate garden and large games barn with pool table, table tennis, darts and table football. We keep a small selection of outdoor play equipment for young children. Both properties have a separate garden with furniture and barbecue. The children love to help us feed and groom the animals and collect the eggs. They are 4 acres of land for the children to explore. The properties have adjacent paddocks and stabling for anyone who wants to bring horses.
